The Levine Scholars Program is UNC Charlotte’s most prestigious merit scholarship program that was established in 2009 by benefactors Sandra and Leon Levine. The inaugural class of Levine Scholars entered in the fall semester of 2010 and a new cohort of approximately 15 students is selected to join the program each year. Levine Scholarships are awarded to extraordinary high school seniors based on scholarship, ethical leadership, and civic engagement. This award honors an outstanding senior who demonstrates qualities of good citizenship. There are two parts to this application. Peachtree Road Farmers Market

Peachtree Road Farmers Market Reusable Bag Design Contest. The competition presents an opportunity for students to showcase their talent on reusable shopping bags that will be distributed at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market throughout the season.

Theme is “Live, Love, Be Green.” Students are asked to include imagery inspired by the spring/ summer season and the corresponding regional market goods, such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, etc. We also ask participants to illustrate the spirit of the city. Designs must include the words “2015 Peachtree Road Farmers Market.”

The student who submits the winning design will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the opportunity to have his/her artwork displayed on reusable shopping bags distributed throughout the city. Additionally, two runners-up will each receive a

Furman Scholar

The Furman Scholars program seeks to honor high school juniors who exhibit strong academic potential, demonstrate leadership potential, and show significant involvement in extracurricular activities and community service. High school guidance counselors nominate current juniors to participate in the program.

Students selected as Furman Scholars are eligible to receive at least $7,500 in scholarships upon acceptance into Furman University.

High school counselors may nominate current juniors for the Furman Scholars program who meet all of the following criteria:

The David Skinner/Georgia Development Authority 2015 Scholarship

Award: Scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00 will be awarded annually to students enrolled in the study of Agriculture or an Agriculture related field.

Georgia Military Scholarships - University of North Georgia

The scholarship pays for your room, meals, tuition, books, uniforms, and fees. In addition, you receive National Guard weekend drill pay, GI Bill, pay for attending Army basic and advanced training, and Army ROTC contract pay (starting beginning of sophomore year). GMS Scholarship recipients are non-deployable as long as they are enrolled and remain in good standing with the University of North Georgia and the Georgia Army National Guard. Requirements:1. Be a resident of Georgia.2. Receive a nomination from a state assemblyman.3. Meet the academic requirements for, and gain regular admission, to UNG.4. Meet Army National Guard medical and physical standards.5. Agree to serve as an enlisted member in the Georgia Army National Guard while a Cadet at UNG.6. Agree to accept a commission upon graduation from UNG and serve four years as a commissioned officer in the Georgia Army National Guard. The U.S. Department of State Announces Scholarships for American High School Students to Study Abroad

The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) offers merit-based scholarships to study one of seven critical foreign languages: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Korean, Persian (Tajiki), Russian and Turkish. The NSLI-Y program is designed to immerse participants in the cultural life of the host country, provide formal and informal language practice, and spark a lifetime interest in foreign languages and cultures. The application deadline for summer 2015 and academic year 2015-2016 programs is October 30, 2014. Visit www.nsliforyouth.org for more information.

The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Abroad Program offers merit-based scholarships to spend an academic year in countries that may include Bosnia & Herzegovina, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mali, Morocco, Oman, Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, and Turkey. This program increases understanding between people in the United States and people in countries with significant Muslim populations. Students live with host families, attend local high schools, do community service, and complete a capstone project. Applications for academic year 2015-16 programs are due January 7, 2015. The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) offers merit-based scholarships to spend an academic year in Germany. The program was established in 1983 to celebrate German-American friendship based on common values of democracy. Students live with host families, attend local schools, and participate in community life in Germany. For
