9.5.16

[ Allah ] said, "And what made you hasten from your people, O

Musa?"20:83

When the Bani Israeel crossed the Red Sea, they saw a nation worshipping idols. So they asked Musa عليه السالم to make them an idol too. This makes us so angry, but Allah was

so patient with them, as was Musa. They had just been saved from the slavery of Firawn, and they wanted another slavery. After all the signs that Allah showed them, their feet were still wet from the sea, and they wanted another tangible idol. Firawn was also an idol, which his people worshipped. Musa عليه السالم called them an ignorant nation.

Allah made an appointment with Musa عليه to collect السالمthe Tawrah. These meetings were to be held at night. The first meeting that Allah and with Musa was also in the night. The beginning of the revelation for the Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلم was also at night, in the cave of Hira. The night is quiet and isolated, making it easier to concentrate.

Some scholars say that the 30 days were the month of Dhul Qa'adah, and the 10 days were the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, while the day that Allah met Musa was the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, يوم النهر, the day of Eid.

Musa had to prepare for this meeting. The first time Musa met Allah, it was an unplanned meeting, but even then Allah told Musa ▶ ▶ فاخلع نعليك remove your shoes (20:12). This time, the the purpose of the meeting was much higher, to receive the Divine Book, so the preparation was 40 days of fasting, as internal purification. Musa عليه السالم was longing to meet Allah again, and came with so much happiness.

A group of Bani Israeel were also supposed to come with Musa, but he was so excited, and didn't want to be late, so he hastened to go, and left his people to follow him.

Allah asked Musa why he hastened to come. Musa had tasted the sweetness of being close to Allah, and now had another chance. He didn't want others with him when he met Allah again, so he left early. But Allah was not pleased that he came early, showing impatience, and leaving his people behind. This shows that we must

follow the rules of Allah. Musa left hurriedly, and didn't advice his people enough, or prepare them. All of us are slaves of Allah, and we must follow His instructions.

He said, "They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Rabb, that You be

pleased."20:84

Musa told Allah that his people were following his tracks, were nearby, and that Musa hastened so that Allah would be pleased with him.

Haste,or عجلة, is dispraised in the Qura'an. But you should not delay good deeds either. عجلة is praised in matters of worship, but not in a way that you pray earlier than the time, but that you don't delay. Haste for matters of dunya is

dispraised. You can be hasty in doing voluntary deeds.

There are so many opportunities to be close to Allah. If you want to talk to Allah, pray. If you want Allah to talk to you, read the Qura'an. Make dua, and you will connect with Allah. The pleasure of Allah is better than Jannah. This is a beautiful relationship between the slave and his Master.

Musa wanted more than to talk to Allah, he wanted to see him too. He wasn't doubting Allah, he was longing to see Allah.

The words of Allah make you fly, imagine seeing Allah. Allah told Musa he couldn't see him in dunya. Allah wanted to show Musa his mistake, he had asked for something he shouldn't have.

Ibraheem عليه السالم asked something similar, when he asked Allah to show him how Allah brought the dead back to life. Allah asked him whether he didn't believe, to which he said it was not that he had any doubts, but to make his heart at rest.

With Musa, Allah was very gentle. To appease

for the righteous سورة آل عمران

The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل : said عليه و سلم

Lord spoke to him, he said, "My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You." [ Allah ] said, "You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in place, then

you will see Me." But when his Lord appeared to the mountain, He rendered it level, and Musa fell unconscious.

And when he awoke, he said, "Exalted are You! I have repented to You, and I am the first of the believers."

him, Allah told him to look at the mountain of Tur, if it could withstand the sight of Allah, and stood firm, then Musa could also see Allah. So Allah made an experiment with the mountain.

The roots of the mountains are deep in the earth, one third of the height of the mountain above the ground, they are a very stable and rooted creation. When Allah revealed a glimpse of Himself to the mountain, it exploded and crumbled at the sight, and Musa fell down unconscious. The mountain couldn't stand a slight glimpse of the majesty of Allah. Musa was looking at the mountain, but he didn't see Allah, whereas the mountain did. This is the

ability of Allah, that He makes one creation see Him, while the other cannot.

The veil of Allah is a barrier covering the light and beauty of Allah. The creation cannot withstand even a glimpse of the intense beauty and nur and majesty of Allah, and would burn.

Musa fell unconscious by صاعقة الطور, the shock of the mountain exploding. When he recovered, he realized his mistake. Allah reformed him, so he said ,سبحانكnegating all imperfections from Allah. Musa repented for his mistake, and renewed his faith.

Allah gave Musa the Tawrah, which was in the form of stone tablets, with everything already written on them. The Qura'an came in the form of rebellions, written later. But the Tawrah was already etched in the stone, the admonitions, advice, and details of the religion.

And [mention] when Ibraheem said, "My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead." [ Allah ] said, "Have you

not believed?" He said, "Yes, but [I ask] only that my heart may be

satisfied." [ Allah ] said, "Take four birds and commit them to yourself.

Then [after slaughtering them] put on each hill a portion of them; then call

them - they will come [flying] to you in haste. And know that Allah is Exalted

in Might and Wise."سورة البقرة

The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل : said عليه و سلم

And the Trumpet will be blown, and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth will swoon away, except him whom Allah wills. Then it will blown another

time and behold, they will be standing, looking on (39:68). So I shall be the first to raise his head and there

will be Musa holding on to one of the pillars of the Throne. So I will not know if he raised his head before me, or if he was one of those whom Allah made the

exception for.

chosen you over the people with My messages and My words [to you]. So take what I have given you and be among the grateful." وكتبنا له في األلواح من كل شيء موعظة وتفصيال لكل شيء فخذها بقوة وأمر قومك يأخذوا بأحسنها
