Application Notes:• American Illumination strongly recommends power supplies with short circuit, over load, over voltage, and over temperature protections. Soft Start recommended.• 12V Constant Voltage SMPS: Provides stable output to the circuit and therefore Light Puckz will operate with the highest brightness and efficiency with the least susceptibility to in-rush current or voltage spikes. Recommended.• 12V Electronic Transformers: Light Puckz may not be compatible with certain electronic transformers such as those used to light up halogen lamps due to high frequency switching, minimum load requirements, and potential voltage spikes. As a result of high frequency switching, in-rush current may damage sensitive solid state components. Only electronic transformers rated for LED loads and in-rush protection, soft start, and surge protection should be used. Thorough testing use is recommended.• 12V Magnetic Transformer: Light Puckz are typically compatible with magnetic trasnformers, but some models may allow in-rush current to pass through and affect the reliability of the Plugz components. Using a surge protector in conjunction with a magnetic transformer is recommended.• LED DC Constant current driver: Light Puckz already has an internal constant current driver, so an external constant current driver is NOT compatible.* Symptoms of incompatibility include no light output, flickering, strobing, random shutdowns and premature LED failure.

Thermal Regulation:• The bi-pin Light Puckz should be mounted onto a heat sink surface for proper thermal dissipation. Standalone Light Puckz have an integrated heat sink.• For indoor (dry) installations, a well-ventilated fixture or housing is recommended. Sealed installations require sufficient contact with a heat sink.• After prolonged operation, the housing surface should be hot but not scalding. If scalding or cold, it is not working properly. Safety Guidelines:• Wire circuit path must be free of obstructions or sharp points• Only UL approved power supply units should be used with the following protective measures: • Short-circuit protection • Overload Protection • Overheating Protection• Do not pull on, rupture, twist, damage or pinch the wires. • Light Puckz should not be subject to sitting water or consistent and heavy moisture. Outdoor (wet) installations should be protected.• Turn transformer off before connecting Puckz• Do not exceed the maximum input of the power supply.• Do not cut, tamper with, or otherwise modify the Light Puckz. Modification will affect the integrity of the design and void warranty.
