1. Welcome and appointment of note-taker Actions/InformationLynn thanked all for coming and explained that the low turnout was due to the OFSTED inspection and Parent Carers event.Lynn agreed to take notes.2. Introductions and update from membersLynn, Sefton CVS – CYP Mental Health Services Co-ordinator and Chair of the Network, represents VCF Sector on CYP Emotional Health and Wellbeing Steering Group, chaired by Dwayne Johnson. Also leads on SEAS (Sefton Emotional Achievement Service), a consortium of 6 local organisations delivering emotional health and wellbeing services in schools.Rachel, PSS Young Carers – they work with young carers and their families across Sefton, one-to-one and in groups. Sefton Young Carers have produced a short film, “Our Journey,” following a successful youth-led funding bid last year, which is due to be launched on 28th November at SPACE.Abbey, Sefton CAMHS – CAMHS has a Single Point of Access and primary and specialist mental health teams. Abbey is new in post (started this week).Catherine – Specialist School Nurse, Emotional Health and Wellbeing – Catherine supports school nurses to deliver emotional health and wellbeing support and is currently delivering STORM training in Suicide Mitigation and Self-harm to the team.Bob, Southport Samaritans – Samaritans has a central office and 201 branches across the country. The Southport branch has strong links with local further education colleges and attends Fresher’s Fairs and mental health events. They are working hard to develop links with the local VCF sector and schools. They don’t ask callers to their helpline for their age so can’t be certain but Bob believes they are getting increasing numbers of young people calling for support. This may be partly due to lack of capacity of Childline,

who they work in partnership with, but also due to Samaritans’ Confidentiality Policy. They offer free emotional health sessions for schools and have a variety of free resources available for teachers, including lesson plans, and will also give talks to teachers. Their Confidentiality Policy does not apply when working in schools as they work in line with the school’s Safeguarding Policy. They have a free resource, DEAL (Developing Emotional Awareness and Listening) which is aimed at Year 9s upwards. Their Step-by-Step programme supports schools after a suicide or suicide attempt. They also have a presentation for staff on self-harm.Suzanne, HALO/SENDIASS – SENDIASS support parents and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in education. HALO is a support service for families, offering programmes around resilience building, ADHD and autism. They deliver training in schools and work jointly with CAMHS. They are able to offer accredited autism training through Lottery funding. Professional can make a referral via www.halocic.co.uk. SENDIASS/HALO have 3 staff and they are dealing with a lot of crisis cases as Sefton children not in school have increased 40% on last year. They have some training courses planned and Suzanne will send the details to Lynn for circulation.3. Notes of last meetingNotes of previous meetings are available on the Network webpage at https://seftoncvs.org.uk/areas-of-work/cypf/children-young-peoples-emotional-health-wellbeing-network/The last two meetings’ notes were reviewed as July’s notes were not available at the September meeting. At the July meeting, the lack of funding for ADHD parenting interventions was raised. Suzanne informed the group that HALO could apply for some funding to run sessions at their centre in Formby as they already have programmes written, ready to run. They are setting up some focus groups to assess need as they have had enquires about running programmes for siblings and for Polish parents.4. The pilot will be conducted in a primary school to year 5/6s in the New Year and Abbey asked the group for suggestions and contact details. The school should be in the Maghull or Southport area, have a room with computers and a TA available.
