Expanded Beam Technology
The expanded beam technology uses an optical system consisting of lenses. The X-BEAM physically expands and collimates the transmission signal into an optical beam, which will then be reflected back onto the core of the receiving fiber.
– This concept provides an easy alignment and makes the transmission less sensitive to particles of dirt on the lens surface

Features of the SM version
Better IL values thanks to Diamond Technologies– Thanks to the patented Diamond ferrule technology and
the core alignment with the crimping tools, the position of the light bundle is optimized, in order to obtain the best Insertion loss value.

Features of the SM version
As a first step the ferrules are inserted into the metal holder and the positions of the light bundles are located, measuring eccentricity and angle (e ; Θ )

Features of the SM version
Thanks to the 2nd crimping tool, the eccentricity parameters, which allow to improve the position of the luminous bundle and therefore decrease attenuation, are optimized In the second step .

Example of application and references
Diamond SA homologated a special version of the X-BEAM OLC/OLB connector with the Swiss army
– 1-Channel SM connector with mechanical coding (guide post)
– The coding operates via a coding-pin and coding-hole with 4 possible codes
– The coding system enables a
conformant connection system
