Technology Strategy Board themes

People• To establish trusted relationships between consumers and providers of digital content

the Open Platform will rank the content listed in search results according to the compound influence of peer feedback and transparent assessment against quality criteria. This allows high quality content to differentiate, and ensure relevance of the content to users.

Content & Services • The Open Platform creates a sustainable marketplace for exchange and licensed usage

of digital intellectual property from industry, government, academia and individuals, including weather and climate forecasts, environmental observations, exposure data, risk models and more. Users [will be] engaged through the provision of open-source, mainstream programming tools and highly accessible visual mashups.

Networks• The marketplace supported by the Open Platform will require very large-scale storage

and powerful scientific compute infrastructure delivered through the cloud with a high-level of service quality required to support business operations. As the market evolves, the demand for business-focused cloud-offerings will drive commercially viable investment in networks and infrastructure as part of the open platform's overall value chain.
