the words and actions of the mentees.

A leader should strive to learn from the team; in the same way, a team is expected to learn from aleader. One of the most fundamental roles of a leader is to strike a balance between action andawareness. Adaptive leadership is the capacity of a leader to effectively understand when to getinvolved in an action and when to step back.

To summarise, an adaptive leader:

1. Relates organisational change to the primary values, abilities and dreams of the stakeholdersinvolved

2. Embraces diversity of views3. Foresees and proactively responds to any reluctant behaviour from teammates4. Deals with the organisational pressure5. Acknowledges their mistakes6. Takes calculated risks and likes to experiment7. Likes and encourages innovation
