August 26 is the final installment in our Summer Speaker Series, with Ray Hetchka, founder of Kayak Amelia, self-proclaimed 'barefoot tree hugger' and Coastal & Uplands Florida Mas-ter Naturalist on how to appreciate and preserve our wet-lands and marsh. Come for coffee at 9:30 and stay for the presentation.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir will resume regular rehearsals Wednes-

day Aug. the 29th at 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm.

Fall Meet & Eat!!

This Fall, the Hospitality Committee will be organizing an-

other way to meet others in the church while enjoying a

meal together. Similar to Groups of 8 in the past, we are

calling it "Meet & Eat". If you would like to be a part of this

fun fellowship gathering, fill out the form in the bulletin

and drop in the offering plate or at the Info desk in Jim

Thomas Hall. A “Reveal” Pizza Party will take place on Mon-

day, September 10 at 6pm to introduce everyone to their

dinner group for September - December dinners. After

meeting each other, the group can determine who will host

each month. Pizza, iced tea/lemonade and cookies will be

served. Please RSVP to churchoffice@1stpres-fb.com or

call 261-3837 for the total number of pizza eaters Septem-

ber 9. Folks will see that it is “Easy as (pizza) Pie” to set up a

dinner!!!

Grandparenting with Purpose

Catherine Jacobs is a grandmother who has developed

“Seven Keys” for becoming a life-changing grandparent in

the 21st century. Join us in September as Catherine Jacobs

leads a workshop on grandparenting with purpose. The

workshop begins with a Candlelight Ceremony and Dinner

at 5:30 pm for $5 per person, Tuesday, September 11th, at

St. Peters Episcopal Parish. Then, September the 12th, the

workshop continues with a ninety-minute program at 10 am

in Burns Hall. This ministry event is hosted by St. Peter’s

Episcopal Parish and First Presbyterian Church of Fernandi-

na Beach. Please contact the church office to register for

The life, death, resurrection, and promised coming of Jesus Christ has set the pattern for the church’s mis-

sion. His life as man involves the church in the common life of people. His service to humankind commits

the church to work for every form of human well-being. His suffering makes the church sensitive to all the

sufferings of humankind so that it sees the face of Christ in the faces of people in every kind of need. His

crucifixion discloses to the church God’s judgment on man’s inhumanity to humankind and the awful con-

sequences of its own complicity in injustice. In the power of the risen Christ and the hope of his coming,

the church sees the promise of God’s renewal of man’s life in society and of God’s victory over all wrong.

The church follows this pattern in the form of its life and in the method of its action. So to live and serve is

to confess Christ as Lord.
