• The sin of Judah: Despised YHWH’s Law and not kept his commandments.

– They have sold the upright for silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals…(2:6-8)

They forgot their history…

his secret to his servants the prophets (3:7)

• He will “visit” his chosen people (3:2; 14) – The visit of God is seen as his intervention

among men to bless or to punish.

• The punishment of the Lord is a famine not hunger for food, nor thirst for water,but famine for hearing YHWH’s word (8:11)

• The way to survive is to “seek out” for the Lord (5:4;6;14-15)

pity on the remnant of Joseph (5:15) and will rebuild the hut of David (9:11)
