Festive Fun at the FTS FairFestive fun was had by all last Friday at the Friends of Truro School (FTS) Prep Christmas Fair.

This year, the new venue of the Assembly Hall meant that there was lots more space for exciting stalls and perennial favourites such as the Tombola and Face Painting set up alongside some seasonally themed game stalls such as Hook a Cracker, Guess the Name of the Reindeer and gingerbread man decorating. FTS Class reps. and various parents did a fantastic job of organising, decorating and manning their stalls along with some very helpful and enthusiastic Year 6 Pupils (overseen of course by our brilliant Deputy Head, Mr. Frewer!).

Around the corner, in the Music room, Santa decided to pay us a visit and he made lots of little children very happy, aided skilfully, of course, by Mrs. Santa and her team of helpers.

Whilst the children enjoyed the fun and games, the school catering staff served up a delicious fayre of hot dogs, mince pies and mulled apple juice and many thanks go to Year 6 parent, Charlotte Jay, for her wonderful crepe stall.

Thank you to everyone who attended and we wish you all a very merry Christmas!

Nursery and Reception performed their ‘very wriggly nativity’ play where the children did an excellent job of remembering their lines, the songs, and dance moves. An enjoyable end to the Christmas plays!

Early Years Nativity

A day in the life of a Victorian

Year 1 spent a day experiencing the life of Victorian children. They came dressed up as fine young Victrorian children, or the classic Oliver Twist costume complete with dirt smudges on their faces.

With the children and teachers looking the part, they enjoyed an afternoon tea party with sandwiches they made washed down with red and white wine (juice and water!) from their dressed up servants on hand.

Pre-Prep ElectionAs the adults wake up to the results of the General Election, the Pre-Prep parties have also spent the last few weeks battling for their peers’ votes and campaigning their policies. The winning party was the yellow Pre-Prep party who won their classmates over with their ideas for a swing in the playground, a tree house, blazers for uniform, wearing home clothes every Friday, and a class guinea pig. Leading the party is Jenny with her loyal group of Amelia, Shiloh, Megan, Raif, and Poppy.

Well done to Harriet, Bou and Felicity who took party in Santa’s 2K Fun Run at Eden in aid of Children’s Hospice South West, a fantastic achievement!

The cubs had a blast at their Christmas party this year with games, snacks, Christmas jumpers and outfits.

The Year 5 Band treated Assembly to a private performance. We think we’ll be seeing more of this band over the years!
