CHANNEL CENTERSouth Boston, Massachusetts

Set in the gritty Fort Point Channel area of South Boston, over 1.5 million square feet of new construction and reno-vation created a new residential and commercial district. The environmental graphics borrow motifs and materials from the historic area’s distinctive industrial warehous-es. Neighborhood identities and street signs featuring stencil-cut aluminum graphics, I-beams and channels punctuate the urban landscape with color and brightness.

THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIAAlexandria, Virginia As a feature of an overall Tourism and Economic Development plan, this city-wide system is a comprehensive approach to visitor and resident orientation. Working closely with the Planning and Zoning group and a wide range of stakeholders, a hierarchy of vehicular directionals, city gateways, pedestrian kiosks and parking identification has been developed, with seamless visitor navigation and memorable brand identity as primary goals. The first phase of installation is slated for Fall 2011.

DOWNTOWNBATON ROUGE Baton Rouge, Louisiana Outstanding Achievement Award 2008 International Downtown Association The new wayfinding system is an integral part of a coordinated Downtown Visitor Amenities masterplan, and represents one the first installed components of the plan. Imbued with a rich heritage stemming from a succession of French, English and Spanish rule and Native American culture, the city offered imagery in many forms for design inspiration. Directional signs, neighborhood markers, kiosks, street names, and interpretive graphics offer fresh, contemporary inter-pretations of the city’s history and culture.

TJX FAMILY MEMORIAL GARDENFramingham, Massachusetts

In cooperation with the families, a memorial garden was designed and dedicated to the seven TJX female associates who were lost on September 11, 2001. This contemplative garden features trellis screens and a canopy of river birch trees around a curved, softly-glowing glass sculpture. Seven etched-glass panels contain images and words contributed by the families that reinforce the unique identities of the individuals.

On an 18-acre parcel of land near Walden Pond, way-finding and interpretive path exhibits were created for Brister’s Hill.
