The “Olivos” is a bay of fine sands, protectedby 2 waterbreakers, which makes this a veryquiet and familiar beach, and well conditionedfor its complete enjoyment. The beach is loca-ted between “Cap Blanc” beach and “Isla delos Pensamientos”, near the lighthouse.

abalisades.

✺ Els banyistes i usuaris d’embarcacions d’esplai hauran de respectar les

indicacions dels socorristes i les banderes de senyalització. A més, els

usuaris de les embarcacions hauran d’usar jupetí salvavides.

✺ The presence on the beaches during cleaning hours from 5 AM till 8 AM

✺ Swimming while red flag is hoisted, and or ignoring instructions from the

lifeguard.

✺ The use of sound reproduction apparatus which can disturb the tranqui-

lity of others.

✺ The presence of domestic animals at any hour, except on authorized

beaches .

✺ The practise of games and sports that could bother or be dangerous to

others, except in designated areas.

✺ Illegal selling and dissemination of advertisements.

✺ The use of jetski’s in bathing areas.

✺ The use of any vehicle such as quad’s, 4x4 or mountain bikes, only with

the exception by the police or lifeguard services.

✺ Sail within bathing areas nor within 50 meters of other crafts and at least

200 meters from the bathing zone.

✺ Swimmers and recreational boat users must comply with the instruc-

tions of the lifeguards and signal flags. In addition, boat users must wear li-

fejackets.

El Castell és el monument més emblemàtic dela població, declarat Bé d’Interés Cultural. Lafortalesa, tal com la coneixem, és una cons-trucció d’època califal (segle X). En 1238, el reiJaume I es va apoderar de València, peròabans va intentar sense èxit prendre el castellde Cullera, que li va ser entregat en 1239, des-prés de la caiguda de València. Com a alcàsserreial va ser residència de tots els monarquesaragonesos en les seues visites a Cullera. En lacapella gòtica alberga el Museu Arqueològic.

The Castle is the main monument, statedas Cultural Interest Entity, The Fort, asknown, is a califal period building of the Xcentury. In 1238, King Jaume I conqueredValencia, but time before in a failed attemptto gain the Castle, was finally given to himin 1239, after Valencia’s fall. As a royalplace, has been used as residence for all ofAragon crown monarchy. Inside, the Ar-chaeological Museum is located in the got-hic chapel.

One of the most typical and picturesque cor-ners in Cullera is the Pou District, knownthroughout history as “Santa Ana” or “Ravaletde la Mar”. Originally, it would set the ancientIslamic settlement of “Qulayra”, as the re-mains of the islamic wall wittnesses, foundunderneath of Del Mar street. L’església parroquial dels SantsJoans s’erigix en el Pati de l’Es-glésia, en ple centre històric de laciutat. Es tracta de la primigènia iúnica parròquia de Cullera des de1248 fins a 1953, i la seua titulari-tat va ser imposada pels cava-llers-frares de l’Ordre de SantJoan de Jerusalem. Antigamentel temple era gòtic dels seglesXIII i XIV, però l’actual temple ésd’estil neoclàssic, datat en elsegle XVIII. El seu altar està presi-dit pells dos patrons de la ciutat,Sant Joan Baptista i Sant JoanEvangelista. Uns altres templesd’interés són l’Església de la Sangi la capella de Santa Anna.

Itwas the first and only church inCullera since 1248 until 1953,and its ownership was imposedby the friars of Saint John of Je-rusalem. El Santuari del Castell, adossata la fortalesa del segle X, es vaconstruir entre 1891 i 1897 ambdonatius, fins a arribar a les110.356,77 pessetes del seucost real. La residència de la pa-trona de Cullera, la Mare de Déudel Castell, és un edifici d’estilneoromànic obra de l’arquitectevalencià Joaquín María BeldaIbáñez. La totalitat dels seus or-naments i imatges, a excepcióde la verge medieval i del seutemplet-cambril, van desaparéi-xer durant la Guerra Civil.

El far de Cullera, un dels dos que queden a laprovíncia de València, es va encendre per pri-mera vegada l’1 d’agost de 1858. La seua apa-rença actual és deguda a reformes dutes aterme els anys seixanta, encara que conserval’aspecte del projecte original. Per raons de se-guretat, no és visitable.

Cullera’s lighthouse, one of the two that stillremain in Valencia County, was turned on forthe first time on the 1st of August in 1858. El Museu d’Història i Arqueologiade Cullera està situat en la capellagòtica del Castell des de la seuarehabilitació recent. El museumostra una valuosa col·lecció derestes històriques i arqueològi-ques, entre les quals podem tro-bar ceràmiques, monedes iàmfores de les cultures grega, ro-mana i altres. Les vitrines delmuseu recullen així mateix una re-producció del bastó de comanda-ment, trobat en la Cova del Volcà,pertanyent al paleolític superior.Oferix un servici d’audioguia.

The History and Archaeology Mu-seums is located in the gothicchapel of the Castle since its re-cent building renovation. The mu-seum shows a valuablecollection of archaeological andhistorical remains, the main onesbeing ceramics, coins and Greekamphoras, Roman and other cul-tures amphoras. The Museumcabinets also contain a replica ofthe Command baton, found inthe cave of the volcano, from thepalaeolithic period. An audio-guide visit is available.

La Torre de la Reina Mora era la porta fortifi-cada de l’Albacar del Castell de Cullera. Laseua construcció data de finals del segle XII odels primers anys del segle XIII, període en elqual la pressió conquistadora dels feudals, elscristians, es fa patent en el litoral mediterrani.Actualment alberga un museu amb una mos-tra expositiva sobre la història de la torre i elSegon Albacar del Castell.

The Reina Mora Tower was the preservedgate of the “Albacar” or fortress in the Castle.It was built at the end of the XII century or thebeginning of the XIII, when the conquest pres-sure worked out by feudal lords, christians,takes place in the Mediterranean coastline.Nowadays you can visit an exhibition show-room about the tower’s history and the “alba-car” of the Castle.

The Marenyet Tower was builtin the XVI century, during Fe-lipe II kingdom, to warn off pi-rate attacks from theharbours entrance. A floodingmodified the rivers mouth in1864 and left the tower faraway from its initial positionby the riverside.

The assault onthe city by the turkish pirate Dragut is themain plot of a visitor’s itinerary that starts witha diorama where the real village os Cullera in1550 is shown, and allows visitors in theCave-Museum of Pirate Dragut, located in thelighthouse district.
