> A t ru ly revo lut ionary bat ten screening system

Concept Click is a system of track mounted spring steel fixing clips which

grasp specially profiled timber battens in a simple push on “click” action.

flexibility: select the species and sizing and set your own sequence and spacing.

benefits

> a clean, contemporary look is achieved with

concealed fixing.

> The simple square profiles provide a sharp aesthetic.

> by being able to select: from 15 available sizes in

3 species, any sequence of sizes and whatever

spacing is required, concept click is an amazingly

flexible design tool which can be used to create the

most dramatic special effects.

> specification is simple with known outcomes

assured by utilizing the modular system, standard

specification format and cad drawings supplied.

> installation is a very quick process with limited skill

requirements and minimal onsite labour.

> damaged battens are easily replaced by simply

cutting them out and snapping in a new one.

> can be configured to meet council privacy

requirements.

> it is excellent for curved wall facades when used

vertically.

> also available in premade prefinished panels.

standard of Quality

Concept Click batten profiles are precision machined

to a furniture grade machined finish, requiring virtually

no further sanding prior to applying surface finishes.

All timber is visually graded to our Natural Select grade

which comprises min. 2/3 select and max. 1/3 standard

according to AS 2796.2. All timber is equalized in our

kiln-drying process to a moisture content of 9-13% for

maximum stability.

All aspects of the track system are produced on

technically advanced production systems ensuring

accuracy of within 1mm.

Timber species

Concept Click is manufactured in 3 species: Pacific

Teak, Burnt Ash and Spotted Gum. Refer to page 8 for

images. Pacific Teak and Burnt Ash are outstanding as

low shrinkage timbers, a key requirement for external

screening battens.

fire resistance

Spotted Gum satisfies the definition of fire-retardant

treated timber as specified in AS3959. Pacific Teak

and Burnt Ash can be treated with most paint-on fire

resistance treatments currently available.

durability

All three timbers are Durability Class 1 for exterior

above ground use. Refer to the table of available sizes

(page 7) which indicates the sizes in each species

that are suitable for exterior use. For exterior horizontal

screens a raked top is recommended (refer to page 7).

The clips and rivets are manufactured from hardened

spring steel and mechanically galvinised to class 4

(AS3566) which are suitable for use within 50m of the

coastline.

The standard track sizes are manufactured from

3.0mm aluminium. Tophat and c-section for special

applications can also be produced in 1.2mm Duragal.R

environmental sustainability

Woodform Architectural is committed to sustainable

building practices to ensure the long term survival

of our planet with minimal environmental impact.

Responsibly harvested timber from carefully managed

resources is one of the most sustainable building

products known to man. We at Woodform Architectural

undertake to source timber from reliable resources

to uphold our policy. Refer to our species guide for

specific information.

> The Key concepts:

click-on profile mechanism

A key element of the Concept Click system is

the way the spring steel clip grasps the specially

shaped wooden profile. The rolled spring jaws

are like a shark bite in that their shape makes

it easy to enter their grip, but once in, it is

impossible to remove. This click- on connection

is the essence of what makes the Concept Click

system a huge labour saving while at the same

time providing concealed fixing.

clip to track connection

The mechanically

galvinised clip is fastened

on to the aluminium track

using self-piercing rivet

technology, notable for

its use in the production

of aluminium sports

cars. This type of fastener is unique in that it is

a high strength connection for joining corrosion

resistant materials together.

Ontrax

Ontrax is the provision of Concept Click clips prefixed

and pre-indexed to a mounting track in an unlimited

range of sequences and spacing using a range of

15 batten sizes. This is a quantum leap in the scope

of what can be achieved with batten screening. The

tracks are simply screwed to a substrate, lined up

from a datum line, and the battens cut to length and

clicked into place. Results have never been so easy.

standard profile

The standard profile is designed to

look like a square batten with a slimline

groove on each side while providing

concealed fixing. From the back it

looks like a chamfered edge batten.

This is the best option for all vertical,

internal and external horizontal in

sheltered locations only.

splayed top profile

The splayed top profile is designed to

provide full drainage along the top edge

where the open topped groove of the

standard profile may collect moisture

affecting long term durability. This does

mean that the top jaw of the clip is

visible but against a black background

it is not very noticeable. It is used mainly

for privacy screens, fences and gates.

sizing

The diagram below shows graphically the range

of batten sizes available, range of suitability for

exterior use and recommended fixing centres.

Lengths

Concept Click battens are available in either random

lengths or set lengths.

Random lengths: used mainly for larger areas where an

express joint is undesirable. A wastage factor of 10-20%

should be allowed for cutting back to join over a track. A

full clip should be allowed for on either side of a join. Note

the track detail to allow for random joins in track selection.

Number of extra clips required for joins is: total linear

metres ÷ average length (2.4m+-).

Set lengths: used for panel type applications or where an

express joint is being used. Available in 3.6m, 3.0m, 2.4m,

1.8m, 1.5m, 1.2m, 0.9m. A surcharge of 25% applies.

Burnt Ash Spotted Gum Pacific Teak

aluminium c-section 25x12x3mm

black powdercoated

Code: almotx25123

A light, low profile section particularly

useful for piggy backing on top of

other existing elements like: steel

frames, furring channels, fencing posts

etc. It is also useful for curved walls

and mid rails. Fixing point centres no

greater than 400mm.

aluminium c-section 25x25x3mm

black powdercoated

Code: almotx25253

This is a deeper profile which has

greater strength along its length

making it suitable for heavier screening

battens and larger fixing centres.

Often used for wall facades or fixing

to masonry. Fixing point centres no

greater than 600mm depending on

weight of battens.

aluminium c-section 50x25x3mm

black powdercoated

Code: almotx50253

The purpose of this profile is to allow

for double clips to mounted on the

joins of random joint panels. The row

of clips is riveted to one side allowing

a further clip to be screwed on the

open side at the joins as needed.

Fixing point centres no greater than

600mm.

fixing clips

Manufactured from hardened

spring steel, mechanically

galvinised and painted black

to reduce visibility. Concept

Click fixing clips are available

in the four sizes shown

corresponding to the

four standard widths

of batten.

pre-oiling

Concept Click battens can be provided

with a factory applied envelope coat

of Cutek timber preservative oil which

penetrates deeply into the timber

improving stability and providing on-site protection. The final

coat which is normally applied prior to installation can have

a color tint added to it for UV-protection or left clear allowing

the timber to grey naturally. Other options are available for

prefinishing to specific project requirements.

Timber Types

Concept Click battens are produced in Pacific Teak,

Burnt Ash and Spotted Gum. Please refer to page 2 or

the Woodform species selection data sheet for further

information. The images at right are indicative only as the

colour and grain of the timber may vary. The size selection

diagram below indicates maximum recommended size for

a given species in outside use. Pacific Teak and Burnt Ash

are preferred for their stability whereas Spotted Gum offers

natural fire resistance.
