When Eric Liddell was a little boy, he was fast. He loved to run and he loved to run fast. He ran so fast that he was able to go to the Olympics! It was a dream come true!

Eric believed that he should not run races on Sundays. He took that day to worship and pray, as he had learned from the Bible: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8).

One of his Olympic races was on Sunday, and Eric chose not to compete. Then he found out that he could run in a different race and still be a part of the Olympics.

Eric won the gold medal! God made Eric fast for a reason, and Eric chose to honor God in all things. People all over the world heard about Jesus because Eric said, “Not on Sunday.”

Eric Liddell was born in 1942 in China. He was the son of missionaries. Clap two times for Eric’s two parents.

Eric went to school in London with his brother and then went to a university in Scotland. Pretend to hold and read a book.

Eric won a gold medal and a bronze medal at the 1924 Olympics in Paris, France. Run in place.

After the Olympics, Eric became a missionary to China. He taught school there and told people about Jesus. Fold your hands like you are praying.
