Our mission “To Share the love of Christ” is being lived out in our faith community. We have a vibrant food pantry, great hospitality, spiritual worship, youth and children’s ministries, Lifeline Groups, etc. Yet, some might wonder how they may also get involved in other ways to live out our mission. On Saturday, September 21, we have an opportunity to share with our local community the love of Christ. We will gather at the church at 8:30 a.m. and do ministry in various ways, and the incredible thing is that no matter your physical abilities, there is an area of ministry designed for you. There is a sign-up sheet in the Lobby with the various options available to go out in teams and show our community that we love them. We will also feed you breakfast to give you the energy to “Go!” Everyone is welcome to be a part of this ministry, whether you are a first time guest or a long time member of Church Hill UMC. support group for both men and women resumes on Thursday, September 12, 6:00 p.m. The sessions run weekly on Thursdays for 13 weeks at a time and are held in our church Parlor, Room 202 (upstairs). Study on Take the Flag by Rob Fuquay

THE SPIRITUAL LIFE is often compared to a race. Pastor Rob Fuquay sees a parallel between the flags used in auto racing and the signals God sends us in our fast-paced lives.

IN THIS BIBLE BASED 7-WEEK STUDY Pastor Fuquay uses the flags from auto racing as a way to discuss different aspects of our life of faith. The seven flags used are Green (start), Yellow (caution), Red (delay), Blue (yield), Black (disqualification), White (final), and Checkered (VICTORY!).

    Emmaus Walk

    A Journey with Christ

If you are seeking spiritual renewal and the opportunity to grow with a group of others in your understanding of God’s grace and love, consider participating in the Walk to Emmaus. The Western Reserve Community offers a Walk to Emmaus retreat at Camp Asbury in the fall of each year. The Women’s Walk is October 3-6, and the Men’s Walk is October 24-27. You will need a Sponsor to travel with you to the Walk and journey with you through prayer and love. Church Hill UMC has Sponsors ready to take you on this Walk and support you through your journey in faith.

Pick up a BROCHURE in our church Lobby to find out more. Contact Pastor Ken Kelley, Sharon Wathen, or Jan Ferry if you are interested in the Walk to Emmaus in October of 2019.

CORRESPONDENCE To the Members of Church Hill United Methodist Church, Thank you so much for your Get Well cards and your prayers. They certainly helped me get better. It’s wonderful to have such caring friends.

    “Sharing the Love of Christ”

    Liberty Community

    Pantry News

Our partnership with the Liberty Community and beyond to provide a monthly food pantry continues to feed hungry people and make a difference for many in our area. In July we welcomed a record number of families to the Pantry — 78 that represented 250 individuals. We had an outside tent area for hospitality and served hot sandwiches and other lunch time sides. Pantry Families and Volunteers enjoyed the fellowship and delicious food.

Second Harvest Food Bank reported that our Pantry received a $1,600 grant from the Trumbull County Emergency Food grant program. That is amazing! The money will provide food for our Pantry for about 5 months. We are grateful for this support as well as the gifts of money, paper products, and food that we receive from our congregation and community members.

We look forward to welcoming students from Liberty Schools to our volunteer ranks again this coming year. During the summer we had great volunteers join us from the Holiday Inn Boardman, Girard First United Methodist Church, Girard area Girl Scouts, our friends from the Jewish Community, and the loyal Church Hill United Methodist Church youth and adults. We cannot do this without such a great group of workers!

    S C H O O L S U P P L Y D R I V E

MANY THANKS to the families from our June Vacation Bible School, the Liberty Branch of the Warren Trumbull County Public Library, and our CHUM congregation for your support of the School Supply Drive to benefit the children from Liberty Schools. 8

WE WILL DELIVER the bags of school supplies on August 27 for their Open House. Additionally, we have gift bags for each of the homeroom teachers so that they know we care about them and wish them a great school year.

WE HAD A GREAT GROUP gather on August 04 to pack the bags of school supplies. Together we share the love of Christ is so many ways!

    GIFTS FOR

Below are pictures of the painted rocks and gift bag for Liberty teachers. Sayings on the colorful rocks include “You Rock”, “Inspire”, “Peace and Love”, “Have a Nice Day”, “Be Positive”, “Just Do It”, and “Hope”. The other rocks are designed with flowers, trees, scenescapes, ladybugs, and footballs. Each Teacher gift bag included a rock, a red pen, and a Handel’s gift coin. (Zoom your newsletter to a bigger font to see the rocks better.)
