I. What Is Feng Shui?

A Brief History

Developed 3,000 years ago in China, Feng Shui literally means “wind and water.”

Feng Shui was used originally in China to orient buildings so they would be placed in

the most auspicious position. It is the practice of creating harmony and balance within

your environment. This ancient Chinese tradition focuses on balancing the energies

in a particular space. Unfortunately, Feng Shui was stifled in China during their

cultural revolution. It has grown in popularity in the West since President Richard

Nixon's famous visit to China in 1972.

A number of different methods of Feng Shui have developed over the years, but they

all have the same basic principles, rules, and concepts. One of the main concepts of

Feng Shui is that everything contains energy—people, animals, thoughts, objects,

places, etc. They call this energy “chi.” The type of chi and its ability to gently flow

through a space determine how the particular energy of a space will affect you. You

can either be nourished or depleted by the chi of a space or environment.

Because of this, Feng Shui's goal is to produce harmonious energy in rooms, houses,

buildings, and outdoor spaces. Feng Shui seeks to maximize the ability of energy in a

space to flow freely in balance and with a positive appeal. If the flow of energy in a

space is in any way restricted, this can deeply affect you, your life, and your attitude

over time. By the same token, by improving the spaces where you spend the most

time, you can positively transform your life and outlook.

You and all people are products of their environments. Your living and working

environments have long-lasting yet subtle effects on your attitude, emotions, love life,

and general well-being. This means that anything in the room or space will affect you

from the colors and lighting to the placement of furniture, doors, and windows. Again,

everything has an energy, according to the Feng Shui philosophy.

Considering this, Feng Shui's goal is to rectify the energy flow and quality of energy

within spaces. Feng Shui fosters harmony, joy, and abundance by optimizing the chi

in your space. The results can range from helping a infertile couple conceive, getting

a job promotion, improving your health, or simply being happier, more productive, and

feeling that life is easy and effortless.

Everything is Energy

Absolutely everything is composed of energy. All of this energy is flowing and

resonating at different levels—like different “flavors” of energy. This means that each

total space (an entire room, an entire house, an entire building, an entire

neighborhood) has a unique fingerprint of energy. Because these energies are

constantly feeding off of each other and interacting, all of these different chi forces

are connected. When you are happy and healthy, your space generally reflects this.

Likewise, when your space is harmonious and balanced, your health and attitude will

reflect this.

While these chi forces cannot be physically seen, quantum physics is an entire well-

respected genre of science dedicated just to studying these “invisible” energy fields.

Quantum physicists have shown that energy can be transformed and controlled with

outside forces such as furniture placement, thoughts, and intentions. Considering the

subtle nature of energy, even the simplest, smallest changes can make real

differences. You might really be surprised how easy it can be to fine-tune the energy

in your living space, office, or garden.

Items of particular interest in Feng Shui for these reasons can include clutter, dying

Page 6: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

6

plants, broken items, or things associated with negative memories. These items

negatively affect the chi of a space. Furthermore, a lack of good lighting, poorly-

placed furniture, or an oddly shaped room can also bring down the quality of energy

in a space. With some basic Feng Shui knowledge, you can identify unbalanced and

unhealthy energies and quickly and easily correct them.

Why Feng Shui Works

Feng Shui works by identifying problem energies in a space and providing a variety of

solutions. Feng Shui is both an art and a science in the sense that there are set

solutions for any particular problem. However, Feng Shui allows for creative

applications of these solutions, making it very much an art form.

More importantly though is that Feng Shui works using the simple principle that all

energies effect other energies. The world is a criss-crossed web of millions of

energies weaving together. When we re-paint a room, move the couch, display a

cherished childhood keepsake, and hang the full-length mirror in an ideal spot, we

have completely changed how the energy fields in this room interact. A whole new

energy web is born. The room's energy signature fingerprint is completely made over

in this way.

II. What Is the Bagua?

The Nine Areas of Life

As seen in the diagram to the left, the bagua

is like a treasure map that will help you to

identify where to boost the Feng Shui energy

in your space to achieve the results you

desire. The bagua is one of the principle tools

used in Feng Shui to determine how to

maximize the beneficial flow of energy

throughout spaces.

It may seem silly at first to align certain parts

of your apartment with a “treasure map,” but

you will come to see the benefits in using this method. Remember it doesn't cost you

anything to re-arrange—you have nothing to lose. Soon you will understand at a

deeper level just how much your environment has an impact on your life. The bagua

has nine different sections that correlate to nine different aspects of life: wealth, fame,

relationship, family, health, creativity, wisdom, career, and helpful people.

Wealth Keywords: Prosperity, good fortune, appreciation, gratitude

Location: The back, left corner of your space

The wealth area has an impact on your finances, abundance, and ability to

accumulate wealth. It is linked to good fortune and the universal flow of abundance.

How this corner's energy flows directly relates to your personal power and your ability

to attract prosperity to your life. This area of the bagua is associated with joy,

optimism, and satisfaction with life, your sense of gratitude, and your appreciation for

life's many gifts.

Aligning the Bagua with a Floor Plan

To use the bagua, you’ll lay the bagua map over a layout of your space to help you

determine which area you would like to work with. You can customize this space to

positively reflect its theme, thus enhancing the energy. In other words, laying the

bagua over a floor plan gives you the information you need to start making the

changes that will promote harmony in your life.

If you do not already have a floor plan, a simple self-made sketch will do. Sketch your

basic floor plan with proportions as accurate as you can make them. This can be

Page 14: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

done for the floor plan of an entire building or just one room—in other words, you can

“bagua” any space, even the surface of your desk. Below is an example floor plan.

To properly place the bagua, first align the bottom of the bagua (the wisdom, career,

and helpful people areas) with the main entrance of your building or room.

Using our example from the previous page, this will locate the relationship area in the

bedroom, the fame area in part of the bedroom and part of the living room, the wealth

area in the living room, the family area in the living room near the kitchen, the health

area in the center, the creativity area in part of the bedroom, the closet and part of the

office, the helpful people area in the office, the career area in the bathroom, the main

entrance area, and part of the kitchen, and the wisdom area in the kitchen.

III. Elemental Magic

What Are the Five Elements?

Another important part of Feng Shui and using it to balance energy are the five

elements. It has long been observed the energy within the natural environment

consists of five different energy components or “elements.” Each element has unique

energy patterns and behaviors.

These elemental energy patterns (water, wood, fire, earth, and metal) must be

balanced within your space for optimum energy flow. The Chinese believed that

everything in the universe interacted with the five elements. Within the Chinese

culture, this philosophy has been applied to every area of life from medicine to

furniture placement for thousands of years.

Now we'll explore each individual element. As you read, take a look around your

current surrounding and analyze how that element is represented. Does it feel

balanced? You may need to make some adjustments.

Water

The water element can be seen in all forms from condensation,

rain, liquid, steam, and ice to streams, pools, fountains, ponds,

lakes, and so on. The water element is also symbolically

represented by reflective surfaces like mirrors, glass, cut crystals,

anything free-flowing or asymmetrical in shape, as well as things that are black,

charcoal gray, dark blue, or any other highly-saturated, dark color.

The element of water is considered to be gentle in nature as it follows the path of

least resistance. While it can be destructive en mass, it is considered to conserve

energy and to represent fluidity, thoughtfulness, and tranquility.

17

Wood

The wood element can be found in any form of vegetation: trees,

branches, twigs, leaves, bark, roots, timber, flowers, and plants.

This element is also symbolically represented by anything made of

wood like furniture, paneling, decks, plant-based textiles (i.e.

cotton), anything in the shape of a column, and by the color green.

The wood element is considered to have a productive energy as it

grows upward and outward in all directions.

Fire

The fire element is seen in everything from sunbeams, heat, lava,

lightening, ash, tar, cinders, and, of course, fire itself. It is also

symbolically represented by lights, candles, oil lamps, fireplaces,

barbeque grills, fire pits, things triangular in shape (pyramids, cones),

zigzag, angular or pointy shapes and patterns as well as things that are

red or orange in color. The energy of the fire element is considered to

.....................be expansive as it actively radiates upward with intensity.

Earth

The earth element can be seen in soil, clay, mud, rock, mountains,

sand, the desert, and coal. It is also symbolically represented by

anything made of materials from the earth like adobe, bricks, tiles,

ceramics, porcelain, or earthenware. Things square in shape or in

earthen colors like yellow, brown, or beige are also manifestations

of the earth element. This element's energy is considered to be

............................supportive as it gathers and settles creating firmness.

Page 18: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

© 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved

18

Metal

The metal element can be seen in gold, silver, steel, stainless steel,

copper, brass, iron, bronze, aluminum, titanium, and platinum. The

metal element is also symbolically represented by anything circular,

oval, or arched in shape and items that are white, gray, or pastel.

The energy of this element is considered to be contractive as it

.........................moves inward to create its solidified form.

The Interaction of the Five Elements

The five elements can also be looked at as five phases in a cycle of transformation.

Of the five elements Aristotle said, “The elements can mix with each other and can

even transform into one another.” Observing the interaction between the five

elements reveals that nothing is permanent. Furthermore, modern science has

proven that everything is made up of energy, including these elements. Plus, all

energy is in a continual state of change.

You can clearly see the energy around you transforming by watching the seasons

change and by experiencing the cycle of life—conception, birth, growth, deterioration,

and physical death.

For thousands of years, the Chinese observed the continual energetic changes taking

place around them and identified a cyclical nature to the changes. Some of the

changes appeared to be flowing and harmonious, like the change of season, while

others seemed to take place in a more destructive, abrupt manner.

By gaining insight into the workings of the elements, the ancient Chinese developed

the Five Element Theory, a system that outlines how the energy around us interacts.

Page 19: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

19

This theory has many names: Wu Xing, Five Phases, the Five Agents, Five

Movements, or the Five Steps/Stages.

In the western world, these five transformational phases are commonly referred to as

the Five Element Cycle. In short, there are three primary ways in which the five

elements interact with one another: nourishing, weakening, or controlling.

In the diagram on the above, the green arrows represent the nourishing phase, the

blue lines represent the weakening phase, and the red lines represent the controlling

phase. As you can see, the five elements interact with each other in a variety of ways.

The elements not only affect each other but everything around them.

Page 20: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

20

The Nourishing Phase

In the nourishing phase, each element has the ability to nourish and strengthen the

element that follows it in the cycle. Also known as the productive cycle, its energy

supports balance and creation.

Water nourishes wood (or plants) so they can grow

Wood fuels fire and keeps it burning

Fire burns creating ash, which fertilizes and therefore nourishes earth

Earth compresses creating mineral and metal deposits

Metal attracts the condensation of water.

The Weakening Phase

In the weakening phase, one element zaps the energy of another element, inhibiting

the weakened element from being at full-strength capacity.

Water causes metal to rust

Wood weakens when soaked in water

Fire burns wood

Earth smothers fire

Metal can be used like a tool to alter the earth (bull dozer, shovel)

The Controlling Phase

In the controlling phase, one element dominates another. This phase is also known

as the destructive cycle because the elements can be hostile and clashing. Not only

can the energy of the elements be depleted in a controlling phase, but they can even

be destroyed.

Water extinguishes fire

Wood (plants/roots) overtake and consume the nutrients from earth

Fire melts metal

Earth slows the movement of and absorbs water (think mud)

Metal deposits prevent plants (wood) from taking root, and when formed into a

tool, like an ax, can cut wood

Page 21: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

Using the Five Elements to Transform Your Life

The five elements have an impact on you and your living environment. Each element

has its own distinctive energy that broadcasts out a unique vibration to the universe.

These energies, therefore, have a strong impact on your personal energy—they can

either bolster or be of detriment to your physical, emotional, or spiritual state of being.

As previously discussed, each element is associated with its own shape, colors and

attributes. Together they represent the full experience of human emotion and

achievement and the types of energy essential to human life.

The Energy of Water

Water easily adapts to take the path of least resistance. However, the energetic

impact of water varies according to whether it is moving or standing still. When

flowing, water energy helps to release the past and allows for abundance to flow into

your life. This energy can be calming, comforting, and quieting. Water energy that is

rushing, like a flood, will contribute to life experiences that are moving too fast or

“stormy” in nature. Water without motion has the capacity to create severe

stagnation—much like swamp water.

As water energy helps to get things moving, it contributes to flowing communications

and can increase social interaction in your life. Additionally, water helps to generate a

creative flow for art, music, and writing. In general, the water element promotes a

sense of peace and mental clarity along with feelings of contentment, calmness, and

gentleness.

A space with an excessive amount of water energy can leave you feeling overly

emotional. You may find yourself feeling stressed, depressed, or overwhelmed. A

space lacking water energy can leave you feeling lifeless, callous, and emotionless. It

may seem that things are strained (i.e. not flowing), people aren't helpful, and that

there is never enough of whatever you need. When water energy is properly

balanced, your life will flow along at a comfortable pace. You are more likely to attract

Page 22: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

22

an abundance of what you desire. There will be a greater sense of harmony, and

emotional responses from those in the space will be appropriate for given situations.

The Energy of Wood

Wood energy is constantly in motion, bursting forth with new growth. It moves upward

and outward in all directions. Its energy is pliable. The energy of wood contributes to

and supports a positive attitude and the ability to share love and kindness. Wood will

also help you develop greater patience due to its enduring nature and its tendency

toward community living. Vitality and increased motivation are spawned by the energy

of wood. It also assists in improving health on many levels. Wood energy influences

personal growth, creativity, and the ability to expand in new directions. It is an

energetic expression of abundance and material success.

A space with an excessive amount of wood energy can contribute to stubborn and

overly opinionated behavior. It can increase irritability, frustration, and impatience. A

space lacking wood energy can leave you feeling that life is completely random, as if

nothing is “rooted.” You may flutter from one project to another without the ability to

fully complete anything. When the energy of wood is properly balanced, your life will

seem purposeful and filled with growth. The qualities of kindness, empathy, and

support for others will be kindled. You may even notice that you become a better

listener and more accepting of differing opinions.

The Energy of Fire

As you might imagine, fire energy is active and moves upward, radiating with

intensity. It pulsates, speeds up, and soars, but, of course, it can also be explosive.

Fire energy will amplify any location's mood or atmosphere. If you're looking to pump

up the passion, joy, or motivation in your life, fire energy will do that. Fire will

illuminate and bring clarity. It has the capacity to assist with personal transformations

while increasing enthusiasm, happiness, and laughter.

A space with an excessive amount of fire energy can zap your own personal energy,

leaving you feeling angry, impulsive, or otherwise intense. It can contribute to

arguments, egotistical behavior, obsessions, and over-excitement. A space lacking

fire energy can leave you detached, distant, and cold. It may seem that any spark for

living has disappeared from your life. When fire energy is properly balanced, your life

will feel “on.” Positive changes, expansion, and openness to new ideas can all come

from a proper dose of fire energy. You will feel motivated, alive, and passionate.

There will be a growing sense of joy and happiness that permeates the space.

The Energy of Earth

Earth energy is considered to be supportive in nature as it gathers and settles

creating firmness. Its movement is horizontal in nature without being stagnant. Earth

energy helps to stabilize a space by calming rushing energies. It nourishes and

protects relationships and creates a sense of peace, calmness, and security. As you

might imagine, earth energy is balancing and grounding in nature.

A space with an excessive amount of earth energy can create a resistance to change

and you may feel “stuck.” You might feel like there are too many demands placed

upon you or that you are being smothered or stifled. A space lacking earth energy can

leave you feeling un-attended to or without a stable foundation. It may contribute to

excessive worry and anxiety while creating an unforgiving nature. When earth energy

is properly balanced, your life will seem safe and grounded. The space will feel

comfortable and accessible. It will lend itself toward generosity, acceptance of others,

and support healthy boundaries.

The Energy of Metal

Metal energy moves inward and contracts as it brings completion and solidifies

things. It is exacting, contained, strong, and enduring. It helps to stimulate the

movement of projects, improves communication, and contributes to mental clarity and

concentration. The energy of metal also helps you manifest what you want from life.

A space with an excessive amount of metal energy can take on a sharp, cutting feel

Page 24: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

24

while increasing stress. It can contribute to sarcasm, self-righteousness, and rigid

behavior. On the other hand, a space lacking metal energy can leave you feeling

spacy, scattered, and confused. Finding the right words or solving problems can

become a challenge. Inner strength, courage, and confidence can falter. When metal

energy is properly balanced, you will find it easier to discern, be efficient, and find

contentment. It is often said that metal is the energy of the mind, meaning that well-

balanced metal energy can make a space feel intellectual in nature.

Bringing balance to the energy of the 5 Elements within your living environment will

go a long way toward favorably supporting you on your journey through life.

IV. Making Magic with Color & Shape

The Energy of Color and Shape

Many studies have been done on the effects of color and shape on the human

psyche. Advertisers use different colors and shapes to trigger and influence the

“buying impulse.” Designers use certain colors and shapes to make people look

thinner or taller. Hospitals, schools, and office buildings choose the color for the walls

and design carefully, as they know it will greatly affect the mood of the building.

Colors and shapes can be used to heal ailments, set the perfect mood, and alter

one's physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual state of well-being. In general, colors

and shapes can be used in many different ways to enhance your life. Let's begin by

understanding what color is. Color is the result of light that is broken down into

different wave lengths. Science classifies light as electromagnetic radiation (EMR)

which is a specialized kind of wave -- one composed of both electric and magnetic

fields. Light waves come in many sizes measured as wavelengths some of which

can be seen and others which cannot.

Light waves also have many different frequencies at which they vibrate. The

frequency range of visible light is referred to as color (430 trillion hertz, seen as red,

to 750 trillion hertz, seen as violet). Furthermore, high frequency light has high

energy while low frequency light has low energy. Light creates both color and form.

In other words, all color and form are energy.

Each color and shape vibrates at its own unique energy frequency. When used

properly, the energy of color and shape can restore balance, improve the feel of a

space, and transform blocked energy. Each color and shape can be either stimulating

or calming. Everyone is sensitive to colors and shapes. Even without knowledge or

Page 26: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

26

the experience of working with these things, most people can tell if a color/shape

combination “feels right.”

The good news is that using color or shape as a Feng Shui adjustment is one of the

easiest ways to transform energy. Have you ever noticed that certain areas of a

space feel good to be in while others don’t? Sometimes just a simple change of wall

color, or introducing a new shape into an area can radically transform the feel of a

room.

The following is a list of shapes and colors and their attributes to help you start

making subtle but powerful shifts within your space.

Upright Rectangle/Columnar

Significant Bagua Areas: Family, Wealth

Representing force, upward growth, support, and stability, upright rectangular and

columnar shapes suggest new life, power, and success. This shape promotes

personal potency and influence while creating a sense of strength.

Round/Circle

Significant Bagua Areas: Creativity, Helpful People

Having no beginning or end, circular shapes represent wholeness, mobility, infinity,

harmonious movement, completion, connection, and unity. Round shapes create a

sense of perfection and focus.

Square/Box

Significant Bagua Areas: Relationship, Health, Wisdom

Representing physical matter, a strong foundation, structure, and integrity, squares

suggest balance, stability, dependability, equality, and the manifestation of our

Page 27: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

27

dreams into reality. Box shapes enhance personal strength and truth.

Triangle

Significant Bagua Area: Fame

Representing the spark of life, construction, progression, and the trinity, triangular

shapes suggest rapid self-discovery, development, culmination, integration,

illumination, and dynamic action. Triangles can create a sense of illumination in a

space.

Irregular/Wavy Shapes

Significant Bagua Area: Career

Formless in nature, wavy or irregular shapes represent spontaneity, rhythm, and the

flowing movement that suggests freedom, transformation, and evolution. Wavy,

irregular shapes help promote change.

Additionally, each color has its own energetic attribute like the shapes. Also, like the

shapes, they correlate to the five elements and nine areas of the bagua. Altering the

energy of your space with colors can be done in a variety of ways through the use of

wall color, flooring, upholstery, window treatments, artwork, decorative items, and

linens.

Black

Black is ideal for promoting self-confidence and independence. It’s a good choice for

areas where you want to assert your power, such as an office. It correlates with the

element of water and the career area of the bagua. Black symbolizes sophistication,

glamour and the flow of money. It is best used as a highlight color as it can be

overpowering. Used in moderation, black can ground and calm overly-excited energy.

Too much of this color can create an environment that feels oppressive, heavy, and

Page 28: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

28

cold. Use black carefully if you tend to get depressed or isolate yourself from the

outside world.

Blue

Associated with reflection and relaxation, blue helps to ease anxiety and is ideal for

places where you want to relax. It is calm and soothing and creates a feeling of

peace and trust. It correlates with the element of water and the wisdom area of the

bagua. Blue is particularly good for the bathroom, as it’s associated with release and

renewal. It can help to clear a foggy mind and awaken intuition. The color blue is also

great for decreasing appetite. However, excessive use of this color can contribute to

depression and an unfriendly demeanor.

Brown

Good old practical brown is good for creating an environment that is grounding and

supportive. It’s the color of stability and offers a sense of safety and protection. It

correlates with the element of earth. It is effective at stabilizing extreme emotions and

fostering common sense. Too much brown can create heaviness, extinguish

ambition, and contribute to procrastination and laziness. Natural and neutral earthy-

toned colors can help to stabilize and bring balance to a home environment. If you

are looking to tone down an environment that is too active or unstable add one of the

lighter earth-toned colors to help stabilize things.

Gray

As a color of transition, gray is ideal for waiting rooms and hallways. Gray is

associated with independence, self-reliance, and self-control. It correlates with the

element of metal and the helpful people area of the bagua. Too much gray, however,

can lend itself to loneliness, lack of involvement, boredom, and a gloomy disposition.

Green

Green is the color of growth and should be used wherever you want to activate

Page 29: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

29

inspiration, adventure, and change. It correlates with the element of wood and the

family area of the bagua. Use this color wherever energy feels stagnant. Associated

with expansion, green is peaceful, calming, and has a strong affinity with nature,

helping us connect with each other. Studies have found the color green to be

rejuvenating and calming to the human nervous system. It also helps to create a

friendly and loving atmosphere.

Orange

Combining the properties of yellow and red, orange draws people together and

encourages cooperation. It’s particularly good for areas where a lot of different people

gather. It stimulates feelings of sociability and helps to ward off feelings of

depression. It correlates to the element of fire and the fame area of the bagua.

Orange is also useful for increasing your sense of purpose, although not so good for

expressing creativity. A joyous color, orange can help you to release your emotions

and renew your interest in life. It’s great for lifting your spirits.

Pink

The color of love, romance, warmth, and femininity can be used anywhere you would

like to activate your love life. It’s an ideal color for bedrooms. It correlates with the

element of fire and the relationship area of the bagua. Pink soothes rather than

stimulates and can help create a happy “sweet” environment. Too much of this color

though, can be physically draining, somewhat emasculating, and lend itself to others

taking advantage of your generosity.

Purple

The color of abundance, wealth and power, purple has a high vibration. It can be

used to help you gain a sense of balance as it harmonizes physical and spiritual

energies. Purple also boosts spiritual awareness and is good for healing. It correlates

with the element of fire and the prosperity area of the bagua. Purple will stimulate

your intuition, inspiration, and imagination. Purple can also help one develop humility,

sensitivity, and compassion.

Red

Blood pressure, respiration, and muscle tension all elevate when one is exposed to

the color red. In home decor, red represents luxury. It correlates, of course, to the fire

element and the fame area of the bagua. The color of passion, excitement, and

anger, red is the most visible color and demands attention. It’s great for an energy

boost, but not so good if you want a relaxing atmosphere. Use the color red carefully

within your space because excessive amounts can intensify your life and contribute

to arguments. That aside, red is the color of confidence and recognition. It can offer

even more vitality, ambition, power, and assertive energy when used with

mindfulness.

White

White is the color of focus, intensity, and purity. It promotes creativity because it is

essentially a blank canvas. White also helps to create a sense of spaciousness. It

brings peace, comfort, strength, and helps to ward off despair. It correlates with the

element of metal and the creativity area of the bagua. White is not a good color to

use if you are overly critical or have trouble expressing affection. Too much white can

be cold and isolating.

Yellow

Cheery yellow is life-giving and energizing. It should be used wherever you want to lift

your spirits or find clarity. It creates an environment of optimism coupled with

enthusiasm. It correlates with the element of earth and the health area of the bagua.

Yellow is the color of communication, cheerfulness, and friendliness. It stimulates

your ability to think clearly and make decisions. It can contribute to a pleasant and

lively ambiance. On the other hand, excessive amounts of bright yellow can cause

anxiety. Muted yellow tones work well in the bedroom, especially if you suffer from ill

health. Earthy shades of yellow are associated with physical strength.

Using Color and Shape to Transform Your Life

There are many other colors not discussed here that all have their own attributes and

effects upon the world. As a general rule, colors within the same family have similar

affects. It’s best not to use more than three main colors in a particular area as their

energies will battle each other. Instead use the other colors for accent only.

Furthermore, in working with colors and shapes, you will develop your own sense of

awareness for how specific colors and shapes affect you and your environment.

Painting a room a different color can instantly shift the energy and behavior of people

in its midst. By using combinations of colors and shapes, you can create precisely the

energy you want in a space. Remember that your goal should be to achieve balance

rather than excess.

V. Some Words on Clutter

Why Clutter Effects You

First, let's begin by defining “clutter.” It's anything that you’re not using, that is lying

around where it doesn’t belong, such as a hammer in your bedroom or a coffee cup

in the bathroom. It could be an item you’re keeping “just in case” that you do not

presently need or something in disrepair that you have forgotten about.

If you don’t love it, need it, or want it, it’s clutter! If it makes you feel bad every time

you look at it, like a gift someone has given you that you don’t like and you don’t

know what to do with it, it’s clutter! If it’s a big pile of something you haven't gotten

around to putting away, reading, repairing, or otherwise rectifying, it’s clutter!

Why is clutter problematic? Clutter creates a low-vibrating, stagnant pull that drains

the over-all energy of a space. It can block the flow of events. For example, bedroom

clutter can affect the overall quality of your sleep and thus contribute to irritability. In

turn, this can negatively affect your relationships.

For these reasons, clearing clutter is one of the most crucial aspects of Feng Shui.

Clutter is very detrimental to creating a healthy, flowing energy in your space. You

can think of clutter as soap scum in your shower that slowly accrues over time—at

first unnoticeable but eventually crippling the entire bathroom (if allowed to

accumulate unchecked).

Some of the negative ways in which clutter can affect the energy of a space and your

Page 33: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

33

personal energy include:

increased stress and anxiety

reduced personal energy

lack of focus, difficulty finding clarity

depression

irritability

feeling “stuck” or overwhelmed

the sense of never having “enough” time

When things are piled up all over, you waste time and energy searching for what you

need. Every time you look at piles of clutter but do not attend to them, you are

reminded of what needs to be done and through your unwillingness to tackle the

project, at the subconscious level of mind, you receive the message that you have

failed yourself. Add to the mix any negative feelings you may have about the actual

piled up items, and it is easy to see that clutter can have a negative impact on every

area of your life.

When surrounded by clutter, the energy cannot flow to you. The more clutter you

accumulate, the more sluggish the flow of energy will be. In time, this becomes

hoarding behavior, and it begins to eat away at your life, causing serious problems.

Even though you may not even really “see” your own clutter, it is still having a

negative impact on you. Holding on to things from the past reflects your insecurities

and stops you from living in the present. The more you live with clutter, the harder it

becomes to make decisions and move forward in your life.

Clutter brings with it the energy of disorder and confusion. It makes it hard for you to

focus and think clearly. Burdensome clutter can make you feel tired--even miserable.

In the long term, it can have a detrimental effect upon your health, wealth, and overall

sense of well-being.

34

The Benefits of Clearing Clutter

Clearing out clutter is one of the fastest, most effective ways to transform the energy

of your space. By letting go of clutter, you will literally create an energetic space for

better things to come your way. You will create a space in which the energy you

require to start living your ideal life will more easily flow to you.

Some of the potential benefits of clearing clutter include:

increased energy level

greater clarity

improved health

lifted spirits

emotional balance

easier living, more space to live in, finding what you need quickly

feeling great about your space

a home that feels “lighter & brighter”

Where to Start

Many times people don’t deal with their clutter because, quite frankly, they don’t know

what to do with it. They don’t want to throw away something that cost money or might

be useful someday. If you fall into this category of people it is important for you to

understand what is behind this kind of thinking.

Every time you have these kinds of thoughts, you are living in a “poverty

consciousness.” The underlining message to your subconscious mind is that you do

not have enough money to purchase what you need or that you just don’t have the

luxury or freedom to spend money the way you want. Every time you have these

kinds of thoughts, you diminish the development of “prosperity consciousness,” or the

belief that what you need or want is always easily within reach. Prosperity

consciousness expresses a trust in the natural ebb and flow of energy. Quite

naturally, all things in life come and go. By putting a dam on that natural flow, energy

stagnates much like murky swamp water that has no movement.

Page 35: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

© 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved

35

Do not underestimate the power to change your life just by clearing out your clutter.

Why? Think about what your clutter is: old college papers, owner's manuals you

never open, relics from past relationships, equipment for a hobby you no longer take

interest in, random “junk drawer” stuff you are afraid to throw out, clothes that might

fit in the future but don't now, etc.

If you have a clutter problem, it is often easier to overlook it rather than deal with it.

People often cling to what they know, what is familiar and safe. Change can be

daunting. The more your clutter builds up, the more difficult it will be to rectify. The

higher you build up the “walls of clutter” around you, the more imprisoned you

become by a fear of change and progress. You can free yourself from the stagnant

energy that may feel strangely familiar and comfortable, but that in truth, is only

stifling you and preventing you from receiving that which you truly desire to

experience in life.

Although it may just seem like you are “tidying up,” cleaning clutter is really a way to

bring things you've stuffed to the back of your psyche into the forefront where they

can be dealt with. Try just cleaning the clutter from one room. It will trigger thoughts

and feelings that may surprise you. Cleaning clutter allows you to deal with

unresolved issues that have been passed over and help you to transform the energy

of your space. Give it a try!

Additionally, if you think that you’re “safe” because your clutter is neatly organized

and tucked away in a closet, you are mistaken. The energy of clutter can penetrate a

door, Rubbermaid tub, backyard storage shed. Plus, the vibration of “poverty thinking”

inherent in clutter, be it the neat or messy variety, is always present. While neat

clutter is a more functional vibration than messy clutter, it is still an energy hindrance.

The most difficult aspect to clearing clutter is deciding where to start. It can be

overwhelming to stare down years worth of clutter and ask yourself, “How am I ever

going to do this?” Start small. Just pick a pile and go for it. Choose to either give

Page 36: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

36

away, donate, or throw out everything that no longer holds value to you. Then

congratulate yourself for taking a powerful first step toward creating the changes in

life that you desire.

The kitchen can be a particularly easy place to start. If it has an expiration date that is

past, toss it! See—that was easy. While pitching expired products into the trash may

seem too easy, don’t underestimate its power to influence the energy of the rest of

your space.

Once you start throwing out products that have surpassed their shelf life, you directly

affect the movement of the energy around you which will help further motivate you in

tackling your bigger and more serious clutter zones. Apply this super easy, getting-

started technique to your medicine cabinet when you're finished in the kitchen.

Reducing the stagnant energy of clutter within your bedroom is also highly important

because you spend roughly 1/3 of your life sleeping in that room. When asleep, one’s

energy field is wide open and very susceptible to the energy of its surroundings. A

clutter-free bedroom can go a long way to ensure better quality sleep. It's an

important foundation for a healthy, functional life.

The main entrance to your space is also an important area to have free of clutter. If

the main entrance is blocked, busily over-decorated, or in disrepair, new energy

coming through the door will be diminished. The in-coming energy won’t easily be

able to reach the rest of the house. Plus, the space that greets someone when

entering your home has an immediate effect on their energy—as well as yours.

Another area to place your focus on is the center of your home. The center of your

space is akin to the center of a wheel, connecting all the spokes of the Feng Shui

bagua. Clearing out clutter from the center of your space and keeping this area clean

can have a beneficial impact on your entire life—physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Page 37: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

37

Another tip is to make a list of the areas in your home where you spend the most

amount of time. These areas should be your next priority for clutter-clearing. Why not

get the energy in these areas where you spend the most time, working in your favor?

You can also take the approach of addressing the bagua areas in which you need the

most immediate help. If you are in deep financial trouble, do a complete overhaul of

your wealth area, then take care of the other areas. If you are in poor health, give

your health area a make-over first and foremost before looking at the other eight

bagua areas. Soon you’ll find your life taking a new and better direction in the manner

you need most.

A story that beautifully demonstrates this comes from one of my clients who had a

lovely green sofa that was comfortable and beautiful, but it reminded her of a failed

relationship. Though she had once loved the sofa and had paid a hefty price for it,

she now just saw a tired relic full of painful memories. She knew something needed

to be done but she couldn’t find an acceptable solution.

One morning she was inspired to put the sofa on the curb with a “Free” sign on it.

Coincidentally, a friend stopped by a few minutes later and was able to help her lug

the sofa to the curb. Right then, someone driving a truck pulled up. It turned out that

this person was in need of a sofa in this exact size, shape, and color. In less than 5

minutes, the sofa was on its way to a new home with a new owner who loved the

sofa.

My client remarked on how much better her space felt without the sofa and the

continual reminder of the failed relationship. As an extra benefit, she noted how

uplifting it was to know that the sofa's new owner was so happy with it. Also of

interest is that not long after her willingness to let go of the sofa, a new love entered

her life. She’s now happily married!

With each trash bag you take out to the curb or donate to charity, you too will feel a

weight lifted physically, mentally, and emotionally. You will even find that you breathe

Page 38: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

38

a big sigh of relief. You'll wonder why it took you so long to offload all of the clutter in

the first place.

One of the best things you can do as you set out to tackle a serious clutter problem is

to prepare yourself in advance:

Schedule a specific time to get started and stick to it

Open a window in the space you're clearing to get the air flowing

Play some upbeat happy music to help boost your mood and energy

Be sure that you have good lighting for clearing your clutter

Start with the areas with the least clutter

Be ruthless! If you haven’t used it over the past year, bid it goodbye. If you

forgot you ever owned it, you don’t need it.

Stop if you feel overwhelmed

Before you get exhausted by the project, take a break

Once you’ve made progress, give yourself a hearty pat on the back for what

you’ve achieved

Once you've cleared and tidied, now to maintain this free-flowing open-ness. From

now on, you'll need to clean and clear up as you go along. If you notice something is

out of place, put it where it belongs. When something breaks, fix it or throw it out.

Before bringing something new in to your house, consider where you will store it first.

If you put a little time aside each day to tidy things up, it will soon become a habit.

VI. A New Twist in Feng Shui

Quantum Physics & the Law of Attraction

The results one can obtain from Feng Shui can be significantly magnified when one

combines with a little bit of science and an understanding of how the mind functions.

To give you a full understanding of this unique approach, we begin with a science

lesson. Remember high school science class? Atoms? Atoms, as in what the physical

world is comprised of, are merely rapid-moving particles of energy. All of it is

energy—this may be different than what you learned in school. Many advances have

recently been made in this field and changed dramatically what is known and

understood about the nature of matter. Quantum physics, or the study of this sub-

atomic energy, says that particles of energy never disappear—they simply transform

from one vibrational state to another. Therefore, the energy of matter is in constant

vibrational motion.

In Valerie Hunt's book Infinite Mind, she explains:

“All material substances are composed not only of observable matter, but also of more subtle field components with organized energy patterns, boundaries, and definitions. The deeper one probes into physical substance, the more one encounters the underlying electrical energy of the energy field...each material substance, living or inert, mineral or chemical, has its own vibratory signature carried in the structure of its field. There are dominant and recessive vibrations in each field, giving it character. Field interactions result from the strength and pattern of these field vibrations” (p. 64-65)

Using sophisticated scientific instruments, Einstein found that anything and

everything when broken down and analyzed in its purest, most basic form is merely

an energy frequency. He found that all energy has a tendency to join together with

other similar energies. Eventually these bundles of energy become physical

manifestations.

Page 40: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

40

According to quantum physics, your thoughts and beliefs shape your reality and, in

essence, shape the energy around you. This can be a very foreign concept for some.

We have all been systematically “educated” by parents, schools, churches, and

society. The things we have been taught determine the type of thoughts we hold and

develop into our beliefs. However, if what we think, feel, and believe becomes our

reality then all that we have been taught forms the reality we inevitably experience.

Not fulfilled by your current life experience? Perhaps it’s time to question what you

have been taught. By questioning what we have been taught and making changes to

our belief system, we can transmute and transform our entire life experience.

Transmute and transform are two very important words to understand. Transmute

means that an energy form will morph into a higher vibrational energy form. For

example, the legends of alchemists transmuting metal into gold. Transform means a

major change in composition, nature, or function. One can, for instance, transform

how their personal energy or the energy around them functions.

Because energies can be transmuted and/or transformed, that means you can take

control of your personal energy and the energy of your environment. You can change

it to better suit your needs and desires. The key lies in your thoughts, emotions, and

beliefs. With a simple but steadfast altered belief, you can alter the energy around

you and transform your life.

Quantum physics tells us that all quantum particles, the stuff that makes up our

reality, responds first and foremost to human thought and emotion. Our thoughts and

emotions contain the instructional set by which quantum particles assemble

themselves to create reality.

Essentially, the truth of who you really are is that you are the creator of your reality,

and there is no hidden power outside of you determining your life course. Truly, there

is only one limit to what you can create and attract into your life—that is the limit of

your own imagination. Like Einstein said, “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination

will take you everywhere.”

In every moment of every day, whether you are aware of it or not, you choose what

you think and consequently the reality that you create for yourself. Your thoughts and

emotions write the rules for your reality. In any moment, you can change the rules by

changing your thoughts and clearing undesirable emotions.

You may find yourself thinking that monitoring every thought would be exhausting. In

fact, you might believe that monitoring every thought to ensure that your thoughts

remain positive at all times is impossible. It’s not actually—it is far easier than you

might imagine.

The ‘Universe’ has blessed you with an ‘on-board monitoring system’, a G.P.S. if you

will, that guides you to know which thoughts are beneficial to you. That G.P.S. System

is your emotions. How does a thought make you feel? If it doesn’t feel good, stop

thinking it! Can you not change a negative thought to one that makes you feel

better? Of course you can. Fortunately, we don’t have ‘thought Police’ running

around ensuring that we continue thinking thoughts that don’t feel good. You have

the power to change your thoughts in any given moment.

Everyone, in every moment of every day, is creating their own reality based on their

thoughts, feelings, and emotions and most are unaware of it. Most people live their

lives on cruise control, accepting their fate as if they have no power to change it.

However, the law of attraction states that what we think, feel, and believe becomes

our reality. As the saying goes, “Where attention goes, energy flows.”

The law of attraction states that like energy attracts like energy. It involves three basic

processes: ask, believe, and receive. In other words, you must become clear on what

you desire and place your focus upon it. Be willing to stand in the certainty that what

Page 42: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

42

you desire is already on its way to you. Identify and change any beliefs or thoughts

that are contrary to what you want. The bottom line: the law of attraction does not

discriminate—what you believe and think is what you will get.

To identify what you are currently in the process of attracting into your life, take a

moment to assess how you “feel.” Emotions are nothing more than “Energy in

MOTION,” and the quality of what you are feeling is broadcast out like an order given

to the waitress of the universal restaurant. Eventually you’ll get back what you

ordered. Your feelings reflect the vibrational energy you're sending out. When used

with awareness, your feelings are one of your biggest assets to determining when a

perception shift is needed.

If you feel happy and focused on creative solutions, you will send out good vibrational

energy. If you are feeling unhappy or focused on problems then that will be the

energy you broadcast to the universe. Likewise, while your feelings tell you what you

are attracting now, your surroundings are full of information about what you have

attracted in the past. Take a look around. Do you like what you see? If not, you can

change it!

Before starting to apply the law of attraction concept to your life, you must take some

time to consciously decide what you want for your life. To achieve your desires, you

need to align your words, thoughts, emotions, and actions. Just thinking good

thoughts isn’t enough to create the powerful change necessary to shift reality, though

it is a good start. One of the best techniques is to think, act, and feel as if you have

already achieved your goal. In other words, “fake it until you make it.” This way you

will definitely be broadcasting the exact energy you want to the universe.

It’s also vitally important to be grateful for what you already have. Use your thoughts

and emotions to broadcast thankful, appreciative energy for the blessings that have

come your way. In doing so, you will simply attract more events, situations, and

things to be thankful for.

Mind Power

You can uncover amazing unforeseen possibilities just by tapping into the power of

your mind, which is as simple as combining the law of attraction with quantum

physics. A great starting point for those new to these concepts is to start taking full

responsibility for your life. When you take responsibility for all aspects of your life,

seeing how you have attracted everything that you enjoy as well your “less than

pleasant” moments, you will find yourself in a very powerful position. With increased

awareness, you will be able to create a life that is in perfect alignment with all of your

dreams and desires.

Understanding how the mind works is another vital step that must be taken in order to

create and attract the life you desire. Your mind is comprised of two parts: the

conscious and the subconscious. The conscious mind is like the top of an iceberg--it

is the part of the mind of which we are most aware. Our conscious minds process

what we see, hear, feel, taste, and touch. Thoughts of the conscious mind are

thoughts that we are aware of. Interestingly enough, the thoughts of the conscious

mind are only responsible for about 3% of what we attract into our realities.

On the other hand, the subconscious mind is like the submerged part of an iceberg. It

is the part of your mind that is responsible for your habits, reactionary behavior

patterns, and bodily functions (blinking, digesting). It perceives everything going on in

your presence on every level at all times. It is much like a super computer with the

ability to take in, store, and process large volumes of data in an instant. It does not

reason, think, or analyze like the conscious mind does. It does not judge anything as

being true or false, good or bad, real or imaginary.

The subconscious mind processes everything it perceives as happening in the

present moment. It is responsible for 97% of what you attract into your life and the

very structure of your reality. The subconscious mind soaks up data like a sponge,

records what it is exposed to, and leaves the interpretation of this information up to

Page 44: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

44

the conscious mind. Your conscious mind constructs logical sequences and

reasons—in other words, it “thinks.”

Your conscious mind is only capable of processing one half of one-millionth of 1% of

what the subconscious mind can! The conscious mind is only capable of

concentrating on one thing at a time and struggles to process more than a few

thoughts simultaneously. Whereas the subconscious mind can “remember” millions of

things at once, in proper order, and without error—from the first thing your five senses

perceived when you were born until this exact moment. Without any sort of

assistance, it never forgets!

Most important for our purposes here, your subconscious mind will give you what it

believes you most desire based on your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. Remember,

one of its primary purposes is to gather information. It gathers information from your

thoughts, emotions, and beliefs, then writes the rules by which you live. In essence,

these rules become your ‘programming.' Just like a computer, whether you are aware

of it or not, these programs determine how you live your life and what you can expect

to experience from it.

In the same way that your subconscious mind works like a computer endlessly

compiling and storing data, your conscious mind works like a camera. The lens of

your mental camera can focus on the positive or the negative. Does your conscious

mind see complaints but not compliments? Does the lens of your conscious mind

focus on positives or negatives? Do you have your lens pointing toward a goal that

lies far off on the horizon but is nevertheless clear in your focus?

How is this information helpful? Because unlocking the power of the mind has

everything to do with consciously harnessing the unlimited power of your

subconscious mind. The secret, if you will, is to use the thinking power of your

conscious mind to reprogram your subconscious. Taking into consideration what you

now know about the law of attraction and quantum physics, you can use your

Page 45: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

45

conscious mind to reprogram any limiting beliefs, thoughts, or undesirable emotions

that are stored in your subconscious mind.

We can all distinguish what is ‘real’ or ‘not real’ through the use of our conscious

minds, right? Why then does watching an action-packed movie elicit the startle

response even though you know what you are watching isn't real? Simple. Your

subconscious mind responds as if what you are watching is real because it cannot

distinguish between the two.

In other words, if you regularly use your conscious mind to visualize achieving a goal,

your powerful subconscious mind does not know that it isn't actually happening—that

it's just mental imagery. From a mental point of view, if you were able to achieve the

goal before (if only in your mind), why not now (in reality today)?

Because of this, you must shift your thoughts, experience positive emotions, and

change your limiting beliefs in order to fully experience the life you desire. There are

countless ways to change limiting beliefs. Some of the more popular reprogramming

tools include using affirmations or afformations, meditating on positive thoughts, using

the Emotional Freedom Technique, or seeking help from a Life Coach.

To start making changes it is important to know that people learn in three primary

ways—by seeing, hearing, and feeling. Using all three of these senses together is

necessary to make long lasting changes at the subconscious level of mind. Imagery

is particularly important because the subconscious mind relates best to visual

symbols. This is why so many people have experienced success by creating vision

boards as a tool for manifestation.

One very effective technique for making changes is the Emotional Freedom

Technique (EFT). This technique does not require great skill and is very quick and

easy to do. If applied as undesirable thoughts are identified and unpleasant emotions

are experienced, it will quickly neutralize the energy of those thoughts and emotions.

Page 46: © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved Amazing Power of Feng Shui.pdf · © 2012 Making Magic, LLC All rights reserved 4 I. What Is Feng Shui? A Brief History Developed 3,000

46

There is no longer the need to suffer through endless years of psycho-therapy

dissecting your early childhood upbringing in search of some hidden and painful

memory.

EFT involves using your fingers to gently tap on key acupressure points on various

energy meridians of the body. It has been proven highly effective while also being

gentle and is, well, free. This technique can be done anywhere, any time, and is easy

to learn. Applying this very simple and quick technique with consistence has the

potential to dramatically alter your life.

Another way to consciously reprogram your subconscious mind is to use a meditative

state. Start making a daily habit of taking some time to relax and meditate. An ideal

time to do this is first thing in the morning before your conscious mind has had the

chance to start its on-going mental chatter. Meditating is easier than most people

think and certainly does not require ‘monk-like’ talent.

Simply, find a place to sit where you will not be disturbed. Close your eyes and focus

on your breathing. Take ten slow, comfortable, deep breathes in through your nose

and out through your mouth. Allow yourself to visualize, sense, and feel what you

desire as if it has already been fulfilled. Include all of your senses: smell, taste, touch,

and the joyful feeling of achieving the attainment of what you desire.

Regardless of what approach you take to clear any limiting thoughts, emotions, or

beliefs and to gain greater control of all aspects of your mind, the end result will be an

improved ability to attract what you desire. You truly can attract everything you want.

Nothing in your immediate physical reality is outside of your control if you learn how

to transform old limiting belief patterns and clear undesirable emotions so that you

can actively harness the power of your mind.

What if you could discover how to put all of these techniques together to transform

your thoughts, energy, and actions while also applying Feng Shui principles to your
