Internationalization Issue
• Search method select– Generally required function: Search by name / address / zip code– What about “search by telephone number”?– What if the telephone data is adhoc and so huge? (e.g. China, India)– It does not make any sense to include this function for a few nations
• Search by address– Korea / Japan
• City/Province ( 시 / 도 ) district ( 구 / 군 ) village ( 읍 / 면 / 동 ) Address number• 4 levels, From bigger to smaller
– Western country• Street name Zip code or Town name Address number• 3 levels, From smaller to bigger
– Each country has different address system• Multi-language format
– Asian letters need 2 byte– The unit in data format should be even number

Two Feasible Solutions (1)
• Solution 1: Independent converter for locations– Build the independent converter (e.g. Korea, North America, China, Japan, etc.)– Pros: Each converter is free from the change request from other locations– Cons: Relatively large development effort
• Solution 2: One converter for various locations– Build one converter for multi-locations– Pros: The initial development effort is not as high as solution 1– Cons: Complexity in implementation

• Initial development cost– Solution 1 > Solution 2– Why: 3 or 4 different converter applications have to be developed
• Maintenance cost– Solution 1 < Solution 2– Why: The lower maintenance cost for the more simple system
• Decision: What is the most beneficial in which case?
