Introduction With Release 5.0 the Zero Client Manager is now the Zero Client Controller. Users upgrading from older systems should read “Zero Client Controller” as “Zero Client Manager”. The upgrade process is different for single instance and multi-instance deployments. Select the appropriate topic for your scenario: Upgrade an Instance of Zero Client Controller

1. Get new Software 2. Backup existing Zero Client Controller 3. Configure the new 6.0 Zero Client Controller virtual appliance 4. Restore from backup

Get new software See http://ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html Product: Zero Clients. Download and import the new Zero Client Controller virtual appliance. Do not power on the virtual machine yet. Backup existing Zero Client Controller Make a backup of your production Zero Client Controller.

1. Using a browser, sign into your existing Zero Client Controller console. 2. Navigate to the Setup tab. 3. Expand the Backup Configuration section 4. Configure the connection to the fileserver storing your backup files 5. Click the Backup & Restore… button 6. Press the Backup Now button 7. Enter a description for the backup 8. Press the Backup Now button 9. Confirm that the information for the new backup is displayed in Available Backups 10. Close the Backups dialog 11. Shutdown your existing Zero Client Controller virtual appliance

Configure the new 6.0 Zero Client Controller

1. Power on the new Zero Client Controller virtual appliance 2. Configure the passwords and IP address for the new virtual appliance. Use the same IP address as you did for your original Zero Client

Controller. 3. Select option 1 for Pano Controller

Restore from backup

1. Using a browser, sign into your new Zero Client Controller console and navigate to the Setup tab 2. Enter your License Service Configuration (This implies a fully configured Zero Client Licensing Service. An appropriate virtual appliance

can be downloaded from http://ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html Product: Zero Clients) 3. Expand the Backup Configuration section 4. Configure the connection to the fileserver storing your backup files 5. Restore the latest backup into the new Zero Client Controller 6. Confirm status fields on the Setup tab. The relevant fields and expected results are:

a. Appliance Role: Full Mode b. Directory Configuration: Connected c. Virtualization Configuration: Connected d. Broker Configuration: Configured e. License Configuration: Configured

7. Verify that users can login and connect to their desktops

Upgrade a Group of Zero Client Controllers Follow these steps to upgrade multiple instances of Zero Client Controllers that are part of the same failover group

1. Prepare to upgrade Zero Client Controllers in a failover group. 2. Upgrade the primary Zero Client Controller virtual appliance. 3. Upgrade the secondary Zero client Controller virtual appliance 4. Enable Automatic Switchover 5. Add auxiliary instances of Zero Client Controller

Prepare to upgrade Zero Client Controllers in a failover group

1. Download and import Zero Client Controller virtual appliances a. You will need one new virtual appliance for each existing instance of Zero Client Controller. In some cases it may be faster to

import one virtual appliance and clone additional virtual machines from the first. b. Do not power on the virtual machines yet

2. Verify that your primary and secondary Zero Client Controllers show the following status for Failover Configuration: a. The primary is active b. The secondary is in Standby mode

Important! Do not continue until the modes are correctly set. 3. Turn off automatic failover

a. On the primary Zero Client Controller navigate to the Setup tab b. Expand the Failover Configuration section c. Click the Edit button d. Clear the Enable Automatic Switchover check box e. Click OK to save changes

4. Make a backup of your primary Zero Client Controller (see Backup existing Zero Client Controller) 5. Shutdown all existing instances of Zero Client Controller. The order in which you shut these systems down does not matter.

Upgrade the primary Zero Client Controller

1. Power on the new Zero Client Controller v6.0 virtual appliance a. Configure the passwords and IP address for the new virtual appliance. Use the same IP address as you did for your original

primary Zero Client Controller. b. Select option 1 for Pano Controller.

2. Using a browser, sign into the Zero Client Controller console for the new controller and navigate to the Setup tab. 3. Enter your License Service Configuration (This implies a fully configured Zero Client Licensing Service. An appropriate virtual appliance

a. Configure the connection to the fileserver storing your backup files b. Restore the primary backup into the new Zero Client Controller

5. Confirm status fields on the Setup tab. The relevant fields and expected results are: a. Appliance Role: Full Mode b. Directory Configuration: Connected c. Virtualization Configuration: Connected d. Broker Configuration: Configured e. License Configuration: Configured

6. Verify that users can login and connect to their desktops Upgrade the secondary Zero Client Controller

1. Power on another of the new Zero Client Controller v6.0 virtual appliances. a. Configure the passwords and IP address for the new virtual appliance. Use the same IP address as you did for your original

secondary Zero Client Controller. b. Select option 1 for Pano Controller.

2. Using a browser, sign into the Zero Client Controller console for the new controller and navigate to the Setup tab. 3. Expand the Group Configuration section. 4. Enter the group name and password and press Configure. Both Zero Client Controllers should appear in the group list.

Enable Automatic Switchover

1. Using a browser, sign into the primary Zero Client Controller console and navigate to the Setup tab. 2. Enable Automatic Switchover

a. Expand the Failover Configuration section b. Press the Edit button c. Select Enable Automatic Switchover d. Press OK to save changes

Add auxiliary instances of Zero Client Controller If your previous configuration included more than two Zero Client Controller instances, create new auxiliary instances of Zero Client Controller and add them to the group.

1. Power on another of the new Zero Client Controller v6.0 virtual appliances. c. Configure the passwords and IP address for the new virtual appliance. d. Select option 1 for Pano Controller.

2. Using a browser, sign into the Zero Client Controller console for the new controller and navigate to the Setup tab. 3. Expand the Group Configuration section. 4. Enter name and password for your existing group and press Configure. 5. Verify that all members of the group are visible and reporting OK status, especially the primary and secondary instances. Repeat the above steps until you have the desired number of auxiliary instances configured.
