ZAMBIA’S PEOPLE• Population 11,477,447

• Zambia's economy has historically been: a) Agriculture which employs 85% of the countries population.

b) Cooper mines and other minerals e.g. zinc, cobalt, lead, emeralds etc

c) Tourism currently is adding $30 million and more per year to the economy

• English is the official language• Zambia has 35 different ethnic groups• Zambia has over 70 languages spoken

Dance makes up an important part of Zambian culture.

• Music is also important and many of the ethnic groups use drums as their primary Instrument.

• 50-75% of the Zambian people are Christians• 24-49% are Muslim and Hindu •  1% have indigenous beliefs.

i) The Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa.
