Intrinsically Safe Communication Module (ISCM)

Realizing New Applications

Isolated barriers guarantee safe, reliable signal transmission between the field device to the Foxboro I/A Series system using INFUSION and Triconex Safety Systems. Pepperl+Fuchsʼ intrinsic safety solutions provide galvanic isolation between signal loops and all power-loops. Pepperl+Fuchs offers the most complete range of space-saving economical products to meet all applications.

Pepperl+Fuchs modular intrinsically safe I/O systems customized for the Foxboro I/A Series system and compatible with FBMs provide a cost-effective seamless integration of the Pepperl+Fuchs I/O modules located in the hazardous area to the Foxboro Control Processors (FCP270 or ZCP270) using InFusion. The ISCM can be installed in Zone 2, Division 2 (ISCM8100) and Zone 1 (ISCM8200), hazardous locations. The solution reduces wiring and installation time, as well as the related cost. It also significantly reduces cabinet space in the control room. The solution offers a complete range of galvanically isolated intrinsically safe I/O modules for analog and discrete signals including HART. The system provides communication module and media redundancy. I/O modules can be hot swapped, and are compatible with the Invensys FDT-based Field Device Manager.

The ISTA-BPs are designed to mount H-System intrinsic safety barriers together with the respective FBM onto the same baseplate. A broad range of modules is available for both analog and discrete input and output signals.

The Fieldbus Termination Assembly (FBTA) is a customized Fieldbus Power Hub for the FBM228 Foxboro fieldbus modules to supply up to eight segments. The power supply modules work in cross-over redundancy for highest availability. They are individually replaceable without tools. The connection to the control processor is established with a Sub-D connector.

The Invensys ISCM is a fully integrated solution ideally suited for greenfield applications as well as plant retrofits and revamps using the existing wiring. HART communication is realized via the HDLC bus. Selected digital and analog output modules are available for SIL2 applications featuring a bus independent hardware shutdown.

Pepperl+Fuchs offers a range of modules to establish a wireless network for connecting individual sensors to a DCS or asset management system by using the proven HART technology. With the WirelessHART Gateway (the network manager), the WirelessHART Adapter (for any 4 … 20 mA field instrument) and the WirelessHART Temperature Converter (for RTDs and TCs), you can establish a convenient wireless communication.

Invensys ISCM applications can be supplied for hazardous areas using enclosures made of stainless steel or glass reinforced polyester to fit all common industrial needs.

The Invensys H-System termination boards consist of 8, 16 or 32 galvanically isolated modules. The solution is suitable for all applications and provides individual SIL2 and SIL3 signal connections for both analog and discrete inputs using an ELCO or 37-pin SUB-D plug connector.

An expert system analyzes the physical layer and offers pointed advice in clear text. This enables precise, planned response and pro-active plant upkeep.

Wide range of HIS panels are available for general-purpose circuits enabling a HART communication connection to the Triconex TRICON™ Safety System. The integral HIS Triconex panels replace the standard ETPs (External Termination Panels) and include HART filtering to ensure reliable HART communications. The ELCO system plug connector allows for standard Triconex interface cables.
