Ac#va#ng the Global Youth VoiceA global youth movement to empower young
people to take ac#on on world issues
2015is one of the most important years
in our genera1on’s life1me
“Ours is the first genera1on with the poten/al to end poverty, and the last
to act to avoid worst effects of climate change”
-‐ Ban Ki Moon, United Na0ons Secretary-‐General
SDG’sMDG’s
To be launched 09/2015
You may or may not know the MDG’s, but they have made our world a much be@er place, but we are
nowhere near the finish line, yet.
These global goals from the United Na#ons are like KPI’s for making the world a be@er place.
The MDG’s have already made our world a be@er place, but we can’t
stop here.
What are SDG’s?The sustainable development goals (SDGs) are a new, universal set of goals, targets and indicators that UN member states will be expected to use to frame their agendas and poli#cal policies over the next 15 years.
The SDGs follow, and expand on, the millennium development goals (MDGs), which were agreed by governments in 2000, and are due to expire at the end of this year.
SDG’s will be launched this September, 2015 at the United Na#ons General Assembly, in which AIESEC Interna#onal will also be present.
Where will the leadership come from to achieve the SDG’s?
YOU
The world will be in a much be@er place if we accomplish these global goals by 2030.
That’s 15 years from 2015 to make this change.
Why You + AIESEC?To solve any global issues, we’re going to need young leaders who can be the change. We need to be educated on world issues and to OWN these goals. Because if we do not have ownership of these goals, they
are simply goals on the wall.
How we will do thatThrough the YouthSpeak survey, it serves as a founda#on for all of our
content, advocacy, engagement and forums to be shaped. It also provides AIESEC’s programs the data it needs to understand how to
be@er align with what young people need and want today.

IMPACT ON THE WORLD
Representa#onTo represent young people, we not only need our AIESEC network and global presence, but to understand what the youth opinion is. The youth opinion means that we are aware and can iden#fy what are the hopes and challenges that young people have today, and their views on the world today.
AdvocacyBy being able to represent young people, we are able to speak on behalf of their opinions as an organiza#on. As AIESEC grows its influence in spaces like the United Na#ons and with global organiza#ons, we can u#lize our data and network to influence policies, strategies and systems that are affec#ng young people. Our core purpose is to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to ac#vate and realize their poten#al, and this means we first need to understand what these challenges are, so we can develop more effec#ve systems aligned to the needs of the world.
Create Opportuni#esThrough our data, we will be able to advise decision makers and inspire young people on the challenges we face today as a genera#on. At the same #me, by being aligned to a common voice, we are able to create opportuni#es more effec#vely and generate solu#ons to tackle these challenges we face as young people. Through the AIESEC pla`orm, we will ac#vate our core leadership development programs to tackle these aligned issues. But before we get here, it must begin with the common global youth voice to understand where we need to go, and what we need to do.
Goals of YouthSpeakOur goal is to collect 50,000 responses on our global youth insight survey to enable us to understand the youth opinions across 100 countries and territories, with a primary focus on students of higher educa#on 18-‐25. We chose this goal as it enables us to focus on our core stakeholder within a specific segment of young people we have significant influence.
YouthSpeak also supports the core programs of AIESEC. It creates a broader awareness of our posi#oning as an organiza#on who is purposefully connected with global and youth issues, and by providing young people with an inspiring pla`orm that can be felt and seen online and offline.
Our long term goal is to turn YouthSpeak into an accessible pla`orm that enables us to engage every young person in the world, and through AIESEC we will be able to develop every young person in the world. YouthSpeak data will also be used to shape the future of AIESEC 2020.
Our Impact FrameworkInspire Engage Ac#on
By ac#va#ng the power and enthusiasm of young people, we will mobilize a global youth movement that generate a sense of importance and urgency. By inspiring young people through digital content and physical events, this stage’s objec#ve is to enable people to understand YouthSpeak’s purpose, mission and the importance and relevance of developing young people.
By involving stakeholders across sectors and genera#ons, we are able to be@er u#lize external resources and support to power the youth movement. The YouthSpeak survey data should be a centrepiece of this stage as every ac#vity, event or mee#ng on the engage phase should be aligned with the data, and how it will help shape more targeted conversa#ons on what needs to be solved.
Our global youth movement isn’t just a pla`orm focused on informa#on, but rallying young people together and combining the power of data to help map out what projects and ini#a#ves can be created. This stage enables young people to turn their inspira#on into ac#on and create impact. Th is s tage should invo lve externa l organiza#ons to support the ini#a#ves and create opportuni#es.
