Editor's NoteWhomever decided to stick a holiday in the middle of deep winter was a genius. And whomever designed the holiday to focus on those we love was inspired! Right when I'm feeling the mid-winter blues, I get to celebrate Valentine's Day! That means handmade valentines, decorated sugar cookies, and classroom parties. I like to be as involved as I can be in this holiday, and it certainly makes me happy to see those on the receiving end happy as well.

In this issue, our designers have created loads of Valentine and Anniversary project ideas. Looking for a cute classroom Valentine idea? Wendy Sue incorporates pencils into a collection of handmade Valentines. Want a dynamic home decor display? Kandis Smith alters a metal frame giving it a vintage Valentine vibe. We've filled this issue with layouts, cards, valentines, and altered projects all designed to help you celebrate this special holiday.

Take the time to show your friends and family that you care. Make something handmade and from the heart!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Any frame can be easily transformed into your holiday theme of choice with a coat of paint, and an embellished mat. Brush paint on the frame lightly, let dry, and then sand to create a vintage, distressed look.

1. Use a paintbrush to "dry brush" pink paint onto a metal photo frame. Sand off the excess paint when dry or use a paper towel to wipe off some of the paint when wet. Both techniques create a distressed, vintage paint effect. Let dry.
