Since leaving school back in 1992 Ive started businesses. Many have failed! Some have done ok.None been. Really successful until now. Started a publishing business a year ago with one smallmonthly magazine with no capital investment. We now have 5 magazines with 130,000 readers everymonth. Its been a hard slog over the last 20 years, but you should never give up, even if you have a fewpennies left. Keep thinking of new ideas, its when you feel you. Are at your worst point in life, that youcan come up with the best idea! Im 39.

I am 35 years old, hence i am on a midlife crisis. but i just started my own clothing label 2 years agohttp://www.bleachprojectinc.tumblr.com and to be honest this brightened up my day, that theresnever too late to try anything and reach your goal in life. my motto has always been never give upthough it crosses my mind to do so like a 1000 times a day. young kids these days has the advantageto do anything so fast with the help of the internet at an early age, some succeed and some not, butthe experiences of failing is something valuable and you can only achieve that by inviting your time onit.

I thought the articla was about age rather than sex. Not sure how the number of women in theexamples changes the authors arguments. Should the author also have considered, for instance, how many of the people were minorities? Should the Indians and Chinese be upset that all theexamples are from the Western world?
Reply
Rick Brooks says
No, but the listing of examples from only certain categories of peoplemostly males, mostlyCaucasians, mostly westerners, mostly whateverdoes indicate certain perceptual biasesand reinforces the notion that some people face fewer barriers and more opportunities thanothers.

A nice idea. I have tried many things that have never succeeded. I am 43 years old, been out of workalmost seven years. I have tried to launch several businesses, anything from the multimillion-dollarrange to a YouTube show that cost me almost nothing to start. I have never been able to secure thefinancing to make these businesses work. Even the YouTube show needs marketing money, which Icould never get. Ive written and published a book on Kindle Publishing, Ive tried to start a food truckbusiness, Ive tried a few careers. Nothing has worked. Everything requires money or connections oran unbelievable edge that gets you close to someone important to back your idea. I had the idea tolaunch an Internet-based record company, selling music online, before Napster, before iTunes, beforeanyone was doing it. If I could have gotten the money or the idea to the right person, Id be a billionaire. It never happened. Ideas and persistence arent everything.
Sam Walton got the money to start his first business, a 5 & 10 cent store, from his father-in-law.Donald Trump inherited over $40 million in real estate from his father in his late 20s. Ted Turnerinherited $27 million in real estate from his father in his mid 20s. Bill Gates father was a wealthy andprominent lawyer, so the lifestyle he needed to take the risks he took was there. No one was going tolet Bill be homeless. Most successful people had help. No one talks about this in these motivationalarticles. Some people really do start from nothing, but getting past that point requires help. How didJ.K. Rowling get someone to read Harry Potter?
Anyway, if you believe in the idea that an entrepreneur can make it from nothing, then support anentrepreneur. My show is at http://www.youtube.com/cookwithsnackmaster

Jack Ma is great thats no doubt it but what you can see from him? Like Lee Ka Seng he usewhole life to acheive be most richer man in SEA, anf Jack Ma just use 16 years then alreadysurpass his wealth. What have you see the point here? Jack Ma very smart? He just leverage theinternet to grow his business and money. If you are open minded to look about networkmarketing can let you to build you empire too. As you normal working at company how long timedid need you to reach USD one million dollars? I guess pretty long time but in network marketingyou leverage in great company you can reach it 2-3 years only if you really work hard andcorrectly. Like now google said want to inverts to research how to per long human life. But italready have a great company already did it and keep innovative new products every year, if youcan leverage to this company then you just stay in the great grant shoulder when he walk onestep equally your many step.
