Our special guests arrived via direct flight into Adelaide International Airport where they were greeted by representatives from the Adelaide Convention Bureau.

After a short 15 minute transfer, the group arrived at their hotel in beachside Glenelg, the Stamford Grand. Following check in, guests had some time to relax and freshen up after before heading to dinner.

The group only had a 10 minute walk along the foreshore to the evening location, Scool Restaurant. Owned and operated by well known Adelaide chef Chris Jarmer, Scool treated the guests to the very best South Australian seafood and produce including locally caught fish, oysters and crayfish just to name a few. All of the delicious food was washed down with vintage reds from the Barossa and cocktails made with Moet Ice Imperial, a particularly special treat as Scool are the only venue in South Australia to serve this brand of Moet.

After being spoilt with such wonderful food and wine, guests strolled back to the hotel to retire for the evening.

I found Kangaroo Island to be very interesting and the activities that we did there were brilliant! The quad bikes and the lunch on the beach was fabulous. It was an exceptional venue which I think can be a very good venue for groups.

FriDaY...Virgin Australia staff were on hand at the hotel to provide breakfast packs and essential supplies as guests were up early the next morning to head back to Adelaide Airport for the short 20 minute Sharp Airlines charter flight to Kangaroo Island.

Upon arrival on KI, the group was met by host Tim from Exceptional Kangaroo Island and everyone boarded the specially designed safari vehicle and headed off to explore the island.

On the way to the first activity for the day, several koalas were spotted and Tim gave the group some background on the island and it’s natural inhabitants. The group arrived at KI Outdoor Action and, following a short safety briefing, set off on quad bikes into the wild Australian bush. There were kangaroos, koalas, dense scrub and wide open plains to be seen as the group headed up the hill to experience breathtaking views of the entire island.

Once back at KI Outdoor Action, the group enjoyed fresh morning tea prepared before leaving the helmets and goggles behind to journey to the next stop, Seal Bay.

Seal Bay offers visitors the opportunity to view wild Australian Sea Lions in their natural habitat and our group walked up and down the beach watching the animals bask in the sun and the pups play in and out of the surf.

Back in the 4WD the group headed across the island to a surprise lunch location – the secluded Boxing Bay, where the rest of the Exceptional KI team were set up with a private marquee on the beach for lunch. Local wines, fish straight from the ocean and a zesty salad was the perfect meal in the ideal setting. Following lunch a fiercely competitive game of beach cricket broke out with one guest even throwing himself into the water in an attempt to take a catch!

After lunch it was back into the 4WD to a coastal jetty where the boat and crew from Kangaroo Island Marine Adventures were waiting for the guests. Out on the water there was chance to spot some more sealions bathing on the rocks before the main attraction arrived in the form of a pod of 20- 30 dolphins. The group had an hour or so to soak up the atmosphere as the dolphins swam around the boat and surfed in the wake. On warm days, guests can jump in the water and swim with these amazing creatures.

Back on dry land, the group made one last stop before the airport – KI Spirits. Handmade on site by the husband and wife team of Jon and Sarah Lark, the gin here has won awards around the world and is still made by traditional methods. The group was able to learn about the distilling process and try the products firsthand in the rustic tasting shed.

Finally it was off the airport for the short flight back to Adelaide and then back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner.

Dinner that night was at Jasmin Indian Restaurant, an Adelaide institution and a favourite for the visiting cricket teams, fans and media. The group enjoyed a delicious Indian banquet whilst discussing the day’s activities and even spotted a couple of past cricketing legends enjoying a meal.

After dinner and a huge day of touring, the group retired to the hotel for some well-earned rest.

SaturDaY ...

No visit to Adelaide is complete without a visit to one of South Australia’s world famous wine regions, and on the agenda today was a visit to the picturesque Barossa.

Guests began the day with breakfast overlooking the sea, with a choice of either Australian or Indian breakfast. Then came the surprise transportation for the day, a fleet of shiny red classic Mustangs ... the group would be travelling in style of course!

First stop was the Barossa Farmers Markets, a local institution and Aladdin’s cave of fresh produce. Here guests were greeted by host for the day Georgia Felt of Zoom Photography. Georgia explained to the group that their challenge was to divide into teams, and, with each team in possession of a shopping list, to scour the markets for ingredients for lunch. What better way to meet local characters, learn about South Australian cuisine and of course taste some produce in the process!

With ‘Masterchef Australia’ being a highly popular series in India, guests were delighted to hear that next on the itinerary was a visit to the home of iconic Australian food celebrity Maggie Beer – The Farm Barossa. Here they were welcomed by Saskia Beer, who, using all the ingredients picked up at the markets, proceeded to prepare gourmet lunch as part of an interactive demonstration. At the same time Georgia also provided each guest with their own SLR Camera and some professional tips in taking the best photographs to capture their Barossa experience.

Over lunch guests had the opportunity to taste fine South Australian wines and view the first class versatile function space at the Farm.

Seppeltsfield Winery has a proud and priceless legacy dating back to 1851, and was next stop for the guests. The group’s Mustangs pulled up directly amongst the beautiful vines where they were greeted by Nicole Hodgson of the winery with a private tasting. The group then proceeded into the estate to hear more about Seppeltsfield’s unique offering, including being the only winery in the world to release a 100 year old single vintage wine each year. To finish as a special treat, guests were escorted to a private barrel loft where they had the unique opportunity to locate and taste a vintage Tawny from the year of their birth!

One of the new additions to Seppeltsfield Winery is the development of the JamFactory art studios and retail space. Here guests were taken on a quick tour explaining some of the private hands on art activities available to incentive groups.

It was then time for Georgia to bid the group farewell from the Barossa, providing each guest with a memory card of their own photographic diary of the day.

Dinner that evening was back in the city, where guests enjoyed the lively Saturday night atmosphere of Melt ... one of Adelaide’s most vibrant eatery’s famous for its creative pizza and tapas. Here they were joined by leading figures of Adelaide’s business and political community with connections to India.

(Being at Adelaide Oval) It’s a dream come true! It is one of the best stadiums, one of the best venues I’ve seen in my life. Its the best cricket stadium, even though we have so many stadiums in India, (there is) nothing like this!

Virender TalujaFortune Tours & Expo

“ “It’s a wow factor when you get out of a coach and you sit on a private plane, you land there (Kangaroo Island). You get onto quad bikes, walk on the beach, the food laid down, a BBQ, then games (of beach cricket). Then you have a boat which comes right up to you and you are taken to (see) the dolphins. You are tired, you want to go back the hotel and a private plane just takes you back. This is the experience that clients need and this is what Adelaide offered to us which has made it separate, has made it different.

SunDaY...

Over breakfast on the final day of the educational, guests enjoyed some time to reminisce over the past few days.

On checking out of the hotel, the group travelled into the CBD and arrived at the recently developed Adelaide Oval for Day 4 of the Ashes test between Australia v England. At the Oval the group was met by the venue’s Chief Executive for a brief history of the ground, followed by a special behind the scenes tour of the historic scoreboard, one of the last of its kind in the world still operated by hand.

The tour then took guests through the redeveloped Western and Southern stands to view the various spaces for privates events before arriving at their very own VIP corporate suite. From here guests were able to watch the on field action whilst enjoying a light lunch and discuss how the Oval could host future groups, particularly for the 2015 ICC World Cup, at which time the Indian team will be based in Adelaide.

As hard as it was, the group had to depart the oval during the luncheon break for the airport and their onwards trip to Melbourne to meet up with the other Dreamtime buyers.

The 2015 iCC CriCkeT world Cup

With the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup not far away and the Indian cricket team set to take on Pakistan on March 4, 2015 representing one of biggest rivalries in world cricket, there is a perfect opportunity to include a world class cricket experience as part of an incentive trip to Adelaide

For cricket fans, Adelaide Oval is practically a sacred ground, rich in sporting history and charmed with genteel heritage. From its beginnings in 1871, Adelaide Oval has hosted some of cricket’s defining moments. Adelaide Oval was the home ground for Sir Donald Bradman for most of his career and is one of South Australia’s most impressive venues – boasting picturesque views of the hallowed turf, the city, St Peter’s Cathedral and more.

The South Australian Government has recently invested in a significant reconstruction of Adelaide Oval that will be completed in early 2014, expanding the venue’s capacity, providing the latest in spectator experience, while maintaining the historic spectator hill beneath the Moreton Bay fig trees.

Function space at the oval can cater for as few as five and as many as 3,000 guests in a range of indoor and outdoor spaces including terrace bars, corporate suites with views of the ground and large rooms suitable for memorable gala dinners. Behind the scenes tours of the oval are also available for your guests including access to the historic scoreboard, the Sheffield Shield Room and the Bradman Collection.

A new footbridge has been built linking the Adelaide Oval to the North Terrace precinct with hotels, entertainment and restaurant now only a short walk away.

The Adelaide Convention Bureau would be delighted to assist you in building a suitable itinerary that includes a trip to the oval whether it be for a game, a tour of the oval for cricket buffs or a social event that soaks up the history and the atmosphere of this iconic venue.
