The GJW Titmuss Customer Questionnaire

During November to December 2013, the team here at GJW Titmuss launched our own customer questionnaire to gain insights into your pet dog’s dietary requirements.

Promoted via Facebook, Survey Monkey and our database, this presentation looks at the data we gathered and the conclusions we have drawn from 675 responses.

Take a look at what we found!

Age and Gender of Respondents

The most popular age category of entrants to complete our questionnaire was 46 - 55.

68% of all responses were females, with 32% of answers completed by males.

Number of Dogs OwnedThe majority of people own one pet dog, however 36% owned two, 8% owned three, and 4% (27 of the total respondents) owned five or more! – They must have a lot of space in their home.

Your Pet’s WeightAccording to owner perceptions, 94% of respondents stated that their dog’s weight is average, whilst 4% believe that their pet is overweight.

Most owners therefore believe that their pet’s condition is stable and healthy.

Buying HabitsIn the modern world, technology continues to shape our habits, as 85% of people now buy their dog food online.

In contrast, only 14% purchase their dog food from a pet store, leaving just 6% buying from the supermarket and 0.9% (6 responses) from the vets.

Food PurchasedWe asked you which type of food you usually purchase - here’s a look at what we found:

• High quality/premium food – 74%• Specialist food (for pet allergies & specific requirements) – 28%• Low quality bargain products – 3%• Don’t know – 3%

Premium food has far more health advantages compared to bargain products, so it’s great to see that this figure is high.

All of these foods can serve to give your dog the nutrients they need.

Monthly Spend on Dog FoodTrends for monthly spend on dog food (including snacks) followed a similar pattern to spend on specialised food.

Factors When Purchasing Food

When owners purchase food, quality is the most important factor in the decision making process (61%).

This is followed by:

• Ingredients because of dietary requirements (22%)• Cost (9%)• Brand (7%)

This shows that owners are more concerned about providing a quality and sufficient type of food for their dog over anything else.

Treats and Supplements (Monthly spend)
