The range recognizes the arduous industrial condit ions frequently encountered in many industrial inspection applications. The external covering of the flexible shaft is made of PTFE- impregnated tungsten alloy braiding for greater resistance to wear and abrasion wi thout losing the necessary low friction characteristics and flexibil ity. The shaft is also resistant to water, oil, fuel and most industrial fluids.

Yoke magnet simplifies MPI A yoke magnet designed to simplify magnetic particle inspection, both in factories and on site, has been introduced by Castrol. It al lows one person to carry out a complete magnetic particle inspection, and has articulated, interchangeable legs so that it can induce a field effectively in almost any component profile. The coils are situated at the leg joints instead of inside the handle which makes the unit more comfortable to use.

The company expects the most widespread application to be weld testing for pressure vessels,

The magnet is available either on its own or as part of a kit including magnetic particle inks and instructions. Three leg shapes are available off-the-shelf, and special shapes may be made up to customers" requirements.

Power is fed through a detachable cable for simpler storage and maintenance, and a lamp in the handle indicates when current is f lowing. The unit conforms to BS 6072, MIL 1949, DIN 54131 and AFNOR NF A 09-125. Weight is less than 4 kg.
