What we play is life Louis ArmstrongA casual evening on Bourbon street consists of

Jazz musicians on side streets jammin with a smile and a carefree attitude.

Huge Beer cups that are endless

Instantaneous smirks amongst the traveling patrons.

Did I mention Festivals for miles?New Orleans is infamously known for their Mardi Gras Festival. Its a wonderful celebration and began in the early 1700s.

311 day, which happens to be where it all started for me, is a phenomenal event that entails a band called 311. They peaked in the mid 90s and is one of my all time favorites.

My birthday is March 11, so this event amplified my celebration and takes place every two years.

311 Day Celebration

March 11th, 2008 = the beginning of a life changing experience.

311 Day continuedExploring around the French Quarter

Gumbo, Jambalaya, and Crawfish, oh my!

When most people think of New Orleans, the word Cajun usually comes to mind

The people, culture and cuisine of New Orleans are Creole, and have a long distinguished history throughout the city going back to its founding.

Food, Culture and Music

-This city, founded in 1718 on the Banks of the Mississippi by Jean Baptiste

-New Orleans is completely surrounded by water.

-Lake Pontchartrain, Mississippi River, Myriad Bayous, canals and waterways.

Are you a big football fan?

- If you enjoy the thrill of a New Orleans Saints game, you will experience the rush of dedicated fans with a full glass in their hand!

The French Quarter -!

When things hit the fan, we grieve and lend a helping handHurricane Katrina BrewingAnd the detrimental effects

The Wrath of Hurricane KatrinaHurricane Katrina made its second and third landfalls in the Gulf Coast region on August 29, 2005 as a Category 3 hurricane.

Coordination of rescue efforts August 29 and August 30 were made difficult by disruption of the communications infrastructure.

Most of the major roads traveling into and out of the city were damaged. The only route out of the city was west on the Crescent City Connection as the I-10 Twin Span Bridge traveling east towards Slidell, Louisiana had collapsed.

Rebuilding New OrleansNew Orleans is still being rebuilt after 5 years

Non-profit organizations are tediously rebuilding condemned homes and clearing out neighborhoods that were destroyed.

Report Card

New Orleans residents are still recoveringAfter the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the patrons of this beautiful city knew it would be a long time until things looked normal again.

There is a ridiculous amount of Homeless people in the community and most of them live in tents under interstate 10.

People are hoping that the Tourist rate will increase and generate more revenue for the city.

Not so glamorous

Individuals fail to truly see the constant day to day struggles that homeless civilians have to deal with habitually.

One day at a timeIt will definitely take a long time to restore the majestic vibe that New Orleans embodies.

Through hard work and dedication, the community can continue to rebuild this wonderful city.

My dream is to actively contribute to that goal and begin my post graduate career in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other."
