Women taking Yasmin may also experience the following benefits: Improvement in symptoms like bloating, swelling or weight gain related to fluid retention, more regular and lighter periods and a decrease in period pain.

Some conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, fibrocystic breast changes and cancer of the uterus (womb) and ovaries may be less common in women taking the Pill.

One tablet is to be taken daily. The tablets must be taken at about the same time every day, with some liquid as needed. Tablet taking should be continuous. One tablet of Yasmin is to be taken daily for 21 consecutive days. Withdrawal bleeding should usually occur on day 2 to 3 after the last tablet is taken. Each subsequent pack is started after a 7 day tablet free interval.How to start Yasmin Tablets:Taking Yasmin birth control pill has to start on day 1 of the woman's natural cycle (i.e. the first day of her menstrual bleeding).

Missed Dose:Missed One Pill:If you forget to take your tablet at the usual time, you must take it as soon as you remember. Take the next pill at your regular time. This means you may take two pills in one day. Missed Two Pills in a Row in Week One or Week Two of Your Pack: Take two pills on the day you remember and two pills the next day. Then take one pill a day until you finish the pack. You must use another birth control method for 7 days after you restart your pills.

Missed Dose:If You Miss 2 Pills In A Row In Week 3 Or Week 4 Of Your Pack: Throw out the rest of the pill pack and start a new pack that same day.

ContraindicationsYasmin Tablets are contraindicated in patients with the following conditions:

➔Hypersensitivity to Drospirenone and/or Ethinyl Estradiol, or any inactive component of this medication.➔Renal impairment ➔Adrenal insufficiency➔A high risk of arterial or venous thrombotic diseases.

Contraindications➔Have uncontrolled hypertension ➔Diabetes mellitus with vascular disease.➔Have headaches with focal neurological symptoms or have migraine headaches with or without aura if over age 35➔Undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding➔Breast cancer or other estrogen- or progestin-sensitive cancer, now or in the past➔Liver tumor (benign or malignant) or liver disease➔Known or suspected Pregnancy

Side Effects of Yasmin Pills The most frequent possible side effects of Yasmin birth control pill include nausea, Irregular uterine bleeding, Headache and breast tenderness.Serious but rare side effects include Serious cardiovascular events and stroke, Vascular events and Liver disease.

Warnings And Precautions➔Thromboembolic Disorders and Other Vascular Problems:Stop Yasmin contraceptive pill if an arterial or venous thrombotic (VTE) event occurs. ➔Hyperkalemia:Yasmin should not be used in patients with conditions that predispose to hyperkalemia (that is, renal impairment, hepatic impairment, and adrenal insufficiency). ➔Carcinoma of the Breasts and Reproductive Organs: Women who currently have or have had breast cancer should not use Yasmin because breast cancer is a hormonally-sensitive tumor.

Warnings And Precautions➔Liver Disease: Discontinue Yasmin tablets if jaundice develops. Steroid hormones may be poorly metabolized in patients with impaired liver function. ➔High Blood Pressure: For women with well-controlled hypertension, monitor blood pressure and stop Yasmin if blood pressure rises significantly. ➔Gallbladder Disease: Studies suggest a small increased relative risk of developing gallbladder disease among COC users. ➔Carbohydrate and Lipid Metabolic Effects: Carefully monitor prediabetic and diabetic women who are taking Yasmin. COCs may decrease glucose tolerance in a dose-related fashion.

Warnings And Precautions➔Headache: If a woman taking Yasmin develops new headaches that are recurrent, persistent, or severe, evaluate the cause and discontinue Yasmin if indicated. ➔Bleeding Irregularities: Unscheduled (breakthrough or intracyclic) bleeding and spotting sometimes occur in patients on COCs, especially during the first three months of use. If bleeding persists or occur s after previously regular cycles, check for causes such as pregnancy or malignancy.➔Depression: Women with a history of depression should be carefully observed and Yasmin discontinued if depression recurs to a serious degree.

Warnings And Precautions

➔Other Conditions: If a woman taking Yasmin develops new headaches that are recurrent, persistent, or severe, evaluate the cause and discontinue Yasmin if indicated. ➔Other Conditions: In women with hereditary angioedema, exogenous estrogens may induce or exacerbate symptoms of angioedema. Chloasma may occasionally occur, especially in women with a history of chloasma gravidarum.

Overdose Symptoms

There have been no reports of serious ill effects from Yasmin contraceptive pill overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea and withdrawal bleeding. In case of drug overdose, contact a doctor, hospital emergency department, or regional Poison Control Center immediately, even if there are no symptoms.

Overdose Treatment

Drospirenone is a spironolactone analogue which has antimineralocorticoid properties. Serum concentration of potassium andsodium, and evidence of metabolic acidosis, should be monitored in cases of overdose
