FImH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON

NUMERICAL METHODS IN ENGINEERING

ECULE POLYTECHNIQUE FeDfiRALE DE LAUSANNE, LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND, 11-15 SEPTEMBER 1989

The aim of the symposium, the fifth in the series after Paris, Montreal, Paris, and Atlanta, is to survey the state-of-the-art and the recent trends in advanced scientific computing, with a special emphasis towards applications in engineering science. In this framework, the following topics will be addressed:

Modelization . Partial differential equations, integral equations, boundary conditions, particle and macroscopic models, celluiar automata.

Numerical methods. Finite elements, finite differences and finite volumes, stochastic processes, adaptive mesh refinements, parallel and vector computing methods, optimization, free boundaries, domain decomposition, multigrid methods, software engineering tools.
