Chairperson’s Report

Thank you all for allowing me the honour to serve as Chairman of your Board for the past year. In almost all ways it has been a most successful year. There is little point in referring here to the many reports on the various segments of our group, except to commend those reports to you.

Probably the highlight of all of what has been achieved is the success of the Bateau Bay Bowling Club. This venue has in every way exceeded by far our hopes and expectations.

FINANCIAL AND MANAGEMENT

The strong guidance of Michael Coghlan and his leadership team continues to see your club thrive and grow. Efficiency, transparency, unity, integrity and quality are probably the cornerstone traits that drive this organisation to achieve the wonderful and record-breaking results that are there.

Please look for opportunities to convey to our many employees your appreciation of the effort that they give to get us to where we are, and to keep us there.

SPORTING

Congratulations to all of our sporting groups for their achievements in the year. Thank you to Phil Langley for his untiring efforts leading his Rugby League committee and support staff to do their very best to reach the goals in what has been a most successful year. The successful combination with the Eastern Suburbs Roosters continues. What a wonderful year for our soccer teams and all other sporting groups for their successes and again I direct you to those reports. Well done all.

To those many sponsors who support our various teams, thank you. Members be aware of our sponsors and please, wherever possible support the product and services that they provide.

COMMUNITY

We continue of course to be such a great part of the Central Coast community and indeed, the Goulburn community. All of our venues continue to provide so many services for our members, even if one simply looks at the opportunity for any member to attend to take advantage of our wonderful meals. So many employees, 360 now, providing for their families economically and socially. Our wages, well in excess of $18million.

May I draw to your attention, very briefly, the fact that our employees, through their own endeavours and contribution provide parcels and arrange delivery of same to our troops overseas. The thanks and gratitude we receive from the recipients makes

one proud of the fact that your employees are of such ilk. This is but one of the charitable ideas that they develop and support.

YOUR BOARD

Thanks is due to all of our Board members for their commitment to their roles and duties. They continue to strive to be as professional as they can be having regard to the corporate responsibilities that are cast upon us all. May I take this opportunity of again formally expressing our deep regret arising from the passing of Michael Callaghan. Michael was a committed, hard working and passionate Board member, serving our community so very well. Nothing was a problem for him, he being ever ready to assist whenever the need arose. To his family and those closest to him, and that includes many of you and us, our sincere condolences. The loss of Michael, was the first time that a Board member has passed during his term. So very sad.

THE FUTURE

Your Board was recently briefed by Michael Coghlan and his senior management team on the overall operation of the organisation, and the very many facets that comprise the whole. The respective perceived strengths, possible threats or weaknesses. Various opportunities available were highlighted in an enlightening afternoon. The Board members emerged from that meeting with a much better understanding of how everything works and where we are now. The Board will now take the opportunity to absorb all of that and reflect on the same. The Board will meet again shortly to provide management with some direction on where we go from here. Of course, the status quo is also an option. Importantly your Board is not resting but remaining a vital, energetic and proactive one.

Thank you all for your support.

General Manager’s Report

It gives me great pleasure to report that our Clubs have had another very successful and profitable year. We strive to present modern, friendly and safe environments for our members and visitors. Our staff are the very best in the business which is regularly conveyed to us as they take great pride in ensuring our members and visitors always have an enjoyable experience when visiting any of our Clubs. 1st July 2016 was the first anniversary of the amalgamation with Bateau Bay Bowling Club and what a magnificent Club it now is. Members and locals have welcomed us with open arms and have supported us through the very fast and intense upgrade of the club and it is now the finest in the area.

Wyong Rugby League Club is the next one to receive an upgrade however it will be focused on the downstairs area. Escalators will be installed and all of us are looking forward to that. We are revamping the restaurants and variety of food and rearranging the floor area to create more dining and general lounge space, which is desperately needed on busy nights. The main bar will be upgraded, new carpet throughout, lighter painting scheme and some new furniture. This work is planned to be completed end of November and I’m confident the end result will be excellent and well received.

Our fixed costs continue to increase, e.g. power, gas, wages, food, and general goods and services however we have been able to minimise price increases by improving our overall operating efficiency. Our policy is to be one of the cheapest clubs in the local area for beverage and food, and with some of the best and innovative member promotions seen anywhere.

I take this opportunity to thank all our excellent and attentive staff and in particular our small but highly motivated and dedicated management team. May I also thank our professional and committed board of directors led by Chairman Kevin Pearce. We continue to work in an honest, open and transparent manner with a common objective and desire to be the very best we can, in all aspects. Our EBITDA, earnings, before, interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation was $16,568,772 and this is an excellent result and a record. This includes the addition of Bateau Bay Bowling Club which was $6,691,454.

Net Sporting Costs were $2,493,635 and this includes Senior and Junior Central Coast Rugby League, NSW Cup Rugby League, all ground maintenance costs, bowling and maintenance costs for all 12 bowling greens, soccer and ground maintenance costs and Sports Administration costs. This is a significant contribution to sport, which of course is our Club’s objective.

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

General Manager’s Report (cont.)

Over and above our direct commitment to sport we provide support to many hundreds of people in all types of community groups. This list is extensive and impressive and I recommend that you take a few minutes to read the report as we are particularly proud of what we do in our local community.

We are one of the largest employers on the Central Coast with approximately 360 employees and we paid $18,124,496 in salaries, wages and on costs. Our staff and their families rely on our continued success and where possible we strive to purchase our goods and services from local businesses which has a positive impact in the local community.

Our Rugby League program has had another outstanding year and it has taken an enormous effort and commitment to achieve this. Please read their reports as it has been a milestone year for this Club and well done to all involved.

I also refer you to the Wyong Rugby League Club Junio’rs report, another excellent year and congratulations to all.

Our now 5 bowling clubs, have continued to perform well and have presented wonderful facilities for the hundreds of bowlers, of all levels, who utilise the greens and clubhouses. Please read their reports as there are some great achievements from individuals, teams and groups.

Budgewoi Soccer Club continues to provide first class facilities for the hundreds of junior and senior players and strives to be the benchmark on the Coast. Please read their reports as there is some very interesting information there.

We extend our sincere thanks to the many Sub Clubs within all of our Clubs, they do a fantastic job of getting like-minded people together to enjoy their chosen activity in pleasant surroundings.

Finally on behalf of all our staff, our management team and our Directors I thank you our loyal members for your continued support of all of our clubs. Please continue to provide feedback to our staff so we can ensure we strive to meet your expectations. We remain Respectful and Proud of our Past and Focused and Confident of our Future.

Community Support & Development Report

The Wyong Rugby League Club Group is very proud to continue its support for so many worthwhile organisations and groups in its local areas. It remains a firm commitment of your Club to continue to support and add to the community in such a significant way.

The support your Club provides the community includes financial support such as cash donations, sponsorship, the provision of goods, facilities and other resources. In the financial year ended June 2016, your Club provided a net spend of approximately $3.4M on sport and donations across all 8 venues. This equates to a community dividend of around $67 per member.

This commitment to investing in the community is one the Club is very proud of and will always remain a key focus.

The full list of groups and organisations your Club supports is on the next page and you are encouraged to take a detailed look through it as it is extensive. One of the highlights you will see is that there is no limit to the diversity and genre of the organisations we support. We support big and small, amateur and professional, the well-known and the never heard ofs. The only caveat is that the funds or resources we provide will benefit many within our communities.

At the end of the year we employed over 350 people and had paid over $15.9M in wages and we continue to be one of the largest employers in our region. The positive contribution to the community that this employment provides should not be underestimated. The provision of stable and reliable employment to a community is in our view as important or even more so than the sport and community donations your Club makes. On top of this are the many local businesses and contractors that your Club engages and further helps to provide employment.

Notes to the Concise Financial Statements (cont.)FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

Revenue recognitionRevenue is recognised when it is probable that the economic benefit will flow to the company and the revenue can be reliably measured. Revenue is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable.

Sale of goodsSale of goods revenue is recognised at the point of sale, which is where the customer has taken delivery of the goods, the risks and rewards are transferred to the customer and there is a valid sales contract. Amounts disclosed as revenue are net of sales returns and trade discounts.

Gaming machinesGaming machine revenue is recognised net of payouts.

MembershipMembership revenue is recognised when it is received or when the right to receive payment is established.

CommissionsCommission revenue is recognised when it is received or when the right to receive payment is established.

InterestInterest revenue is recognised as interest accrues using the effective interest method. This is a method of calculating the amortised cost of a financial asset and allocating the interest income over the relevant period using the effective interest rate, which is the rate that exactly discounts estimated future cash receipts through the expected life of the financial asset to the net carrying amount of the financial asset..

RentRent revenue from investment properties is recognised on a straight-line basis over the lease term. Contingent rentals are recognised as income in the period when earned.

Other revenueOther revenue is recognised when it is received or when the right to receive payment is established.

Income taxThe directors are of the opinion that the company is exempt from income tax pursuant to section 50-45 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997. A private ruling was obtained from the ATO on 2 March 2009 confirming this exemption.

Current and non-current classificationAssets and liabilities are presented in the statement of financial position based on current and non-current classification. An asset is classified as current when: it is either expected to be realised or intended to be sold or consumed in the company’s normal operating cycle; it is held primarily for the purpose of trading; it is expected to be realised within 12 months after the reporting period; or the asset is cash or cash equivalent unless restricted from being exchanged or used to settle a liability for at least 12 months after the reporting period. All other assets are classified as non-current.

A liability is classified as current when: it is either expected to be settled in the company’s normal operating cycle; it is held primarily for the purpose of trading; it is due to be settled within 12 months after the reporting period; or there is no unconditional right to defer the settlement of the liability for at least 12 months after the reporting period. All other liabilities are classified as non-current.

Cash and cash equivalentsCash and cash equivalents includes cash on hand, deposits held at call with financial institutions, other short-term, highly liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less that are readily convertible to known amounts of cash and which are subject to an insignificant risk of changes in value.

Trade and other receivablesTrade receivables are initially recognised at fair value and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method, less any provision for impairment. Trade receivables are generally due for settlement within 30 days. Collectability of trade receivables is reviewed on an ongoing basis. Debts which are known to be uncollectable are written off by reducing the carrying amount directly. A provision for impairment of trade receivables is raised when there is objective evidence that the company will not be able to collect all amounts due according to the original terms of the receivables. Significant financial difficulties of the debtor, probability that the debtor will enter bankruptcy or financial reorganisation and default or delinquency in payments (more than 60 days overdue) are considered indicators that the trade receivable may be impaired. The amount of the impairment allowance is the difference between the asset’s carrying amount and the present value of estimated future cash flows, discounted at the original effective interest rate. Cash flows relating to short-term receivables are not discounted if the effect of discounting is immaterial. Other receivables are recognised at amortised cost, less any provision for impairment.

InventoriesStock on hand is stated at the lower of cost and net realisable value. Cost comprises of purchase and delivery costs, net of rebates and discounts received or receivable. Net realisable value is the estimated selling price in the ordinary course of business less the estimated costs of completion and the estimated costs necessary to make the sale.

Investments and other financial assets Investments and other financial assets are initially measured at fair value. Transaction costs are included as part of the initial measurement, except for financial assets at fair value through profit or loss. They are subsequently measured at either amortised cost or fair value depending on their classification. Classification is determined based on the purpose of the acquisition and subsequent reclassification to other categories is restricted. Financial assets are derecognised when the rights to receive cash flows from the financial assets have expired or have been transferred and the company has transferred substantially all the risks and rewards of ownership.

Available-for-sale financial assetsAvailable-for-sale financial assets are non-derivative financial assets, principally equity securities, that are either designated as available-for-sale or not classified as any other category. After initial recognition, fair value movements are recognised in other comprehensive income through the available-for-sale reserve in equity. Cumulative gain or loss previously reported in the available-for-sale reserve is recognised in profit or loss when the asset is derecognised or impaired.

Impairment of financial assets The company assesses at the end of each reporting period whether there is any objective evidence that a financial asset or group of financial assets is impaired. Objective evidence includes significant financial difficulty of the issuer or obligor; a breach of contract such as default or delinquency in payments; the lender granting to a borrower concessions due to economic or legal reasons that the lender would not otherwise do; it becomes probable that the borrower will enter bankruptcy or other financial reorganisation; the disappearance of an active market for the financial asset; or observable data indicating that there is a measurable decrease in estimated future cash flows. Available-for-sale financial assets are considered impaired when there has been a significant or prolonged decline in value below initial cost. Subsequent increments in value are recognised in other comprehensive income through the available-for-sale reserve.

Investment propertiesInvestment properties principally comprise of freehold land and buildings held for long-term rental and capital appreciation that are not occupied by the company. Investment properties are initially recognised at cost, including transaction costs. Investment properties are derecognised when disposed of or when there is no future economic benefit expected. Transfers to and from investment properties to property, plant and equipment are determined by a change in use of owner-occupation. The fair value on the date of change of use from investment properties to property, plant and equipment are used as deemed cost for the subsequent accounting. The existing carrying amount of property, plant and equipment is used for the subsequent accounting cost of investment properties on the date of change of use.

Property, plant and equipmentLand and buildings and plant and equipment are stated at historical cost less accumulated depreciation and impairment. Historical cost includes expenditure that is directly attributable to the acquisition of the items. Depreciation is calculated on a straight-line basis to write off the net cost of each item of property, plant and equipment (excluding land) over their expected useful lives as follows: Buildings 40 yearsPlant and equipment 3 - 5 years The residual values, useful lives and depreciation methods are reviewed, and adjusted if appropriate, at each reporting date.

Notes to the Concise Financial Statements (cont.)FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

An item of property, plant and equipment is derecognised upon disposal or when there is no future economic benefit to the company. Gains and losses between the carrying amount and the disposal proceeds are taken to profit or loss. Any revaluation surplus reserve relating to the item disposed of is transferred directly to retained profits.

Intangible assetsIntangible assets acquired as part of a business combination, other than goodwill, are initially measured at their fair value at the date of the acquisition. Intangible assets acquired separately are initially recognised at cost. Indefinite life intangible assets are not amortised and are subsequently measured at cost less any impairment. Finite life intangible assets are subsequently measured at cost less amortisation and any impairment. The gains or losses recognised in profit or loss arising from the derecognition of intangible assets are measured as the difference between net disposal proceeds and the carrying amount of the intangible asset. The method and useful lives of finite life intangible assets are reviewed annually. Changes in the expected pattern of consumption or useful life are accounted for prospectively by changing the amortisation method or period..

SoftwareSignificant costs associated with software are deferred and amortised on a straight-line basis over the period of their expected benefit, being their finite life of 5 years.

Gaming machine entitlementsGaming machine entitlements are considered to have an indefinite useful life as a result of the expiry of the 10 year period initially indicated by the New South Wales Government. The company tests for impairment annually, irrespective of whether there is any indication of impairment.

Impairment of non-financial assetsGoodwill and other intangible assets that have an indefinite useful life are not subject to amortisation and are tested annually for impairment, or more frequently if events or changes in circumstances indicate that they might be impaired. Other non-financial assets are reviewed for impairment whenever events or changes in circumstances indicate that the carrying amount may not be recoverable. An impairment loss is recognised for the amount by which the asset’s carrying amount exceeds its recoverable amount. Recoverable amount is the higher of an asset’s fair value less costs of disposal and value-in-use. The value-in-use is the present value of the estimated future cash flows relating to the asset using a pre-tax discount rate specific to the asset or cash-generating unit to which the asset belongs. Assets that do not have independent cash flows are grouped together to form a cash-generating unit.

Trade and other payablesThese amounts represent liabilities for goods and services provided to the company prior to the end of the financial year and which are unpaid. Due to their short-term nature they are measured at amortised cost and are not discounted. The amounts are unsecured and are usually paid within 30 days of recognition.

BorrowingsLoans and borrowings are initially recognised at the fair value of the consideration

received, net of transaction costs. They are subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method. Where there is an unconditional right to defer settlement of the liability for at least 12 months after the reporting date, the loans or borrowings are classified as non-current.

Finance costsFinance costs attributable to qualifying assets are capitalised as part of the asset. All other finance costs are expensed in the period in which they are incurred.

Employee benefitsShort-term employee benefitsLiabilities for wages and salaries, including non-monetary benefits, annual leave, long service leave and accumulating sick leave expected to be settled wholly within 12 months of the reporting date are measured at the amounts expected to be paid when the liabilities are settled. Non-accumulating sick leave is expensed to profit or loss when incurred.

Other long-term employee benefitsThe liability for long service leave not expected to be settled within 12 months of the reporting date is recognised in non-current liabilities, provided there is an unconditional right to defer settlement of the liability. The liability is measured as the present value of expected future payments to be made in respect of services provided by employees up to the reporting date using the projected unit credit method. Consideration is given to expected future wage and salary levels, experience of employee departures and periods of service. Expected future payments are discounted using market yields at the reporting date on national government bonds with terms to maturity and currency that match, as closely as possible, the estimated future cash outflows.

Defined contribution superannuation expenseContributions to defined contribution superannuation plans are expensed in the period in which they are incurred.

Fair value measurementWhen an asset or liability, financial or non-financial, is measured at fair value for recognition or disclosure purposes, the fair value is based on the price that would be received to sell an asset or paid to transfer a liability in an orderly transaction between market participants at the measurement date; and assumes that the transaction will take place either: in the principal market; or in the absence of a principal market, in the most advantageous market. Fair value is measured using the assumptions that market participants would use when pricing the asset or liability, assuming they act in their economic best interests. For non-financial assets, the fair value measurement is based on its highest and best use. Valuation techniques that are appropriate in the circumstances and for which sufficient data are available to measure fair value, are used, maximising the use of relevant observable inputs and minimising the use of unobservable inputs.

Goods and Services Tax (‘GST’) and other similar taxesRevenues, expenses and assets are recognised net of the amount of associated GST, unless the GST incurred is not recoverable from the tax authority. In this case it is recognised as part of the cost of the acquisition of the asset or as part of the expense.

Notes to the Concise Financial Statements (cont.)FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

3.

Receivables and payables are stated inclusive of the amount of GST receivable or payable. The net amount of GST recoverable from, or payable to, the tax authority is included in other receivables or other payables in the statement of financial position. Cash flows are presented on a gross basis. The GST components of cash flows arising from investing or financing activities which are recoverable from, or payable to the tax authority, are presented as operating cash flows. Commitments and contingencies are disclosed net of the amount of GST recoverable from, or payable to, the tax authority.

CRITICAL ACCOUNTING JUDGEMENTS, ESTIMATES AND ASSUMPTIONSThe preparation of the financial statements requires management to make judgements, estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amounts in the financial statements. Management continually evaluates its judgements and estimates in relation to assets, liabilities, contingent liabilities, revenue and expenses. Management bases its judgements, estimates and assumptions on historical experience and on other various factors, including expectations of future events, management believes to be reasonable under the circumstances. The resulting accounting judgements and estimates will seldom equal the related actual results. The judgements, estimates and assumptions that have a significant risk of causing a material adjustment to the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities (refer to the respective notes) within the next financial year are discussed below.

Provision for impairment of receivablesThe provision for impairment of receivables assessment requires a degree of estimation and judgement. The level of provision is assessed by taking into account the recent sales experience, the ageing of receivables, historical collection rates and specific knowledge of the individual debtor’s financial position.

Provision for impairment of inventoriesThe provision for impairment of inventories assessment requires a degree of estimation and judgement. The level of the provision is assessed by taking into account the recent sales experience, the ageing of inventories and other factors that affect inventory obsolescence.

Fair value measurement hierarchyThe company is required to classify all assets and liabilities, measured at fair value, using a three level hierarchy, based on the lowest level of input that is significant to the entire fair value measurement, being: Level 1: Quoted prices (unadjusted) in active markets for identical assets or liabilities that the entity can access at the measurement date; Level 2: Inputs other than quoted prices included within Level 1 that are observable for the asset or liability, either directly or indirectly; and Level 3: Unobservable inputs for the asset or liability. Considerable judgement is required to determine what is significant to fair value and therefore which category the asset or liability is placed in can be subjective.

The fair value of assets and liabilities classified as level 3 is determined by the use of valuation models. These include discounted cash flow analysis or the use of observable inputs that require significant adjustments based on unobservable inputs.

Notes to the Concise Financial Statements (cont.)FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

Estimation of useful lives of assetsThe company determines the estimated useful lives and related depreciation and amortisation charges for its property, plant and equipment and finite life intangible assets. The useful lives could change significantly as a result of technical innovations or some other event. The depreciation and amortisation charge will increase where the useful lives are less than previously estimated lives, or technically obsolete or non-strategic assets that have been abandoned or sold will be written off or written down.

Goodwill and other indefinite life intangible assetsThe company tests annually, or more frequently if events or changes in circumstances indicate impairment, whether goodwill and other indefinite life intangible assets have suffered any impairment, in accordance with the accounting policy stated in note 2. The recoverable amounts of cash-generating units have been determined based on value-in-use calculations. These calculations require the use of assumptions, including estimated discount rates based on the current cost of capital and growth rates of the estimated future cash flows.

Impairment of non-financial assets other than goodwill and other indefinite life intangible assetsThe company assesses impairment of non-financial assets other than goodwill and other indefinite life intangible assets at each reporting date by evaluating conditions specific to the company and to the particular asset that may lead to impairment. If an impairment trigger exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is determined. This involves fair value less costs of disposal or value-in-use calculations, which incorporate a number of key estimates and assumptions.

Impairment of property, plant and equipmentThe company assesses impairment of property, plant and equipment at each reporting date by evaluating conditions specific to the company and to the particular asset that may lead to impairment. If an impairment trigger exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is determined. This involves fair value less costs of disposal or value-in-use calculations, which incorporate a number of key estimates and assumptions.

Income taxThe directors are of the opinion that the company is exempt from income tax pursuant to section 50-45 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997. A private ruling was obtained from the ATO on 2 March 2009 confirming this exemption.

Employee benefits provisionAs discussed in note 2, the liability for employee benefits expected to be settled more than 12 months from the reporting date are recognised and measured at the present value of the estimated future cash flows to be made in respect of all employees at the reporting date. In determining the present value of the liability, estimates of attrition rates and pay increases through promotion and inflation have been taken into account.\

Valuation of gaming machine entitlementsDuring the amalgamation with Bateau Bay Sports Club, Wyong Rugby League Club Limited has separately identified 160 gaming machine entitlements at an estimated fair value of $25k each. These were assessed based on recent acquisitions and transaction of gaming machine entitlements. Management is of the opinion that the estimated fair value of gaming machine entitlements is deemed reasonable.

Wyong Rugby League Football Club Report

Season 2016 marked the second year of the affiliation with Sydney Roosters. The departure of long term CEO of Football Operations, Brian Canavan, and the transition to his replacement, John Lee, was one of several important changes at the Roosters. The foundation Club is undergoing a cultural change from being predominantly recruitment based, to principally development based. The catalyst for that change is its long term relationship with rugby league on the Central Coast, and Sydney Roosters has recognized the value Wyong Roos will bring to such program. Three Central Coast juniors were members of the Rooster’s team which secured the NYC premiership. Members can expect to see many more Central Coast juniors (Wyong juniors included) within the tri-colours’ system as the relationship develops and matures.

The Sydney Roosters struggled for NRL success in Season 2016, and this lack of success prompted a closer examination of methods of recruitment and retention. The identified issues impacted to some degree on our Intrust Super Premiership campaign. Such is the life of Reserve Grade, no matter the competition, but the marriage of the two Clubs remains the template for this type of joint venture. Indeed, Wests Newcastle appear likely to assume responsibility for the Knights ISP team in Season 2018, mirroring in many ways this Club’s primary affiliation with the Roosters.

CEO John Lee, Head Coach Trent Robinson, Football Manager Lee Bennett and Development Manager Craig Walker, and their respective staffs, have been supportive, accommodating and generous with their time, and to them the Club extends its gratitude.

Twenty three Central Coast juniors played NRL in 2016. There are plans to refine and expand the Centurions representative program via the closer involvement of Wyong Roos. Such plan satisfies this Club’s charter to foster and develop rugby league in the local area. The NYC will revert to State based Under 20’s competitions in 2018, with training and matches to be largely run in tandem with the NSW and Qld second tier competitions. The prospect of the best young players from this area converging on Roos HQ for training and competition augurs well for the success of both programs and the growth of the game in this area.

Wyong Roos Juniors

Wyong Roos Juniors fielded 35 teams in age competitions from Under 6 to Under 17. The Club, for the first time, had sufficient numbers to field five teams in the Under 8 division, three in the Under 15 and two teams in the Under 17 division. Registrations at this Club (527) are greater than at any other on the Central Coast. Whilst the focus of the Junior Club will always be participation, enjoyment, core skills acquisition, and building a love for the game, we can be proud of the fact 11 junior teams qualified for the finals series (Under 10 and above), with five of those teams progressing to contest the Grand Final in their respective age divisions. The Under 10/3’s (coached

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

by Rebecca Brown), and the Under 11/2’s (coached by Jeremy Tunks) were the two teams from that five to taste premiership success.

The Under 8 Gold (coached by Kristy Mackay) featured in matches at Hunter Stadium on 6 May as part of the Australia v New Zealand Test promotion. The same team, together with the Under 8 Blue side (coached by Blake Newton), also played at Allianz Stadium on 14 August in the Sydney Roosters Junior Appreciation Day. Memories created by events such as these are very special and lifelong.

Wyong Roos Seniors

Wyong Roos regained the CCDRL Club Championship in Season 2016, and were once again the highest try scoring club in the Division. Wyong Roos finished the home and away season in fifth position in Reserve Grade, third position in Ladies League Tag, second position in Under 19’s and Open Age, and Minor Premiers in 1st Grade.

The Under 19’s went on to win the Club’s third premiership in this competition since returning to CCDRL in Season 2013, and 1st Grade annexed the Club’s second premiership in that grade in four seasons.

One measure of a club’s success is the number of representative players produced. Season 2016 saw a continuation of Wyong Roos in representative colours.

Special mention must be made of Jaron Purcell. After skippering NSW CHS Under 15 team to the final of the National Schoolboy Championships, and being named the Blues Most Valuable Player for the series, Jaron was selected in the Australian Schoolboys Merit Team. Jaron has been a Wyong Roo since five years of age.

The NSW Residents team, coached by Rip Taylor, defeated Qld Residents for the first time in three years. Roos ISP Assistant Coach, Ian Bourke, was one of Rip’s offsiders for this season’s successful campaign.

Wyong Roos is fortunate to have the best coaching staff in the CRL. Led by Rip as Head Coach, the Club boasts four Level 3 High Performance coaches, as well as many other well credentialed and experienced mentors. Much of the Club’s success can be directly traced to the quality of coaching available at Wyong Roos, and the way the senior staff direct, guide and educate their less experienced colleagues.

Director of Strength & Conditioning, Bruce Gulliver, brought a fresh approach and the highest degree of expertise to the position in Season 2016. Bruce did an outstanding job preparing the ISP squad to compete against full time professionals, and was instrumental in identifying, rehabilitating and correcting the physical weaknesses of the players. Much of 1st Grade’s success this season can be attributed to their physical preparation under Bruce’s regime.

Support Staff 2016

The support staff and volunteers are essential to the smooth operation of any club, but more so for a club this size, and the commitment, loyalty and good humour of our people differentiates Wyong Roos from all other clubs. Simply put, we have the best in the business. The contributions of team managers, Jeff Munday, Rod Cox and Mitch Thomas (ISP), Gavin Wand and Scott Purcell (1st Grade), Harry Butler and Craig Butt (Reserve Grade), Janelle Heaven (Ladies League Tag), Steve Brown (Open

Wyong Rugby League Football Club Report (cont.)FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

Age) and Dave Lewis (Under 19’s) are under-appreciated at times, but absolutely fundamental to the success of Wyong Roos. The services provided by our blue and yellow shirts are critical to getting players onto the paddock, keeping them there and translating/sanitizing instructions from our coaching staff. The real time feedback from our statisticians, Paulie Gorges and Cam MacKenzie, is invaluable.

The management of our injured players is first class. Brendan Clarke, and his staff at Total Physio Kanwal, provide a professional service equivalent to anything in the NRL, and our medical people, Craig Davis, Shane Selby, Robbie Williams, Richard Gardner, Brett Brown and Jenny Brown compliment that service, and are sensitive to the needs of our players and wholeheartedly committed to their welfare.

Football Committee

The Club’s rugby league program is extensive and defines, in many ways, the public perception of the organisation. Wyong Roos has long taken a visionary approach to its relationship with the game, but executing that vision demands a great deal of thought and energy. I am indebted to the other members of the Football Committee, Rip Taylor, Matt Lavin, Gerard Andrews, Darren Andrew, and especially Chairman Phil Langley, for their enthusiasm, hard work and wise counsel.

Board and Management

Wyong Roos now stands at the pinnacle of CRL. The journey to such point could not have been undertaken without the support and guidance of the Board and Management. Whilst the Club’s interests have broadened and expanded over many years, the Board and senior Management have never lost sight of the fact we are a rugby league club which is determined to be a focal point and at the heart of our local community.

Media

Wyong Roos had 1,856 followers on Twitter (as at 26 October 2016).

The Wyong Roos Facebook page currently has 4,162 “likes”.

The Wyong Roos App was rolled out mid-year and has more than 400 subscribers.

During the period September 2015-August 2016, the daily average visits to the senior website (www.wyongseniorroos.com) peaked at 455, and the total “hits” for that period was 5,974,322.

The team displayed some indifferent early form, but following their comprehensive 26-10 defeat of competition leaders Woy Woy on 26 June, it became apparent the young Roos possessed what was required to win the premiership. Although finishing second (behind the Roosters) at the completion of the domestic season, the Under 19’s twice got the better of Woy Woy in the finals series to grab the silverware. Coach Parker and his support staff again faced the challenge of managing large player numbers, an influx of personnel from other club cultures, as well as the sometime difficult transition from junior to senior football. Despite these issues, the side matured and galvanised as the season progressed, and played some tough and exciting rugby league to end the season as premiers. Members and supporters should be heartened by the fact most of this season’s squad will again be eligible for Under 19’s in Season 2017.

Open GradeSponsored by Central Coast Citrus CleanCoach – Luke Blackhall2016 - Finished 2nd after completion of domestic season, and eliminated in Preliminary Final.

The Open Grade side won 13 matches and lost five in Season 2016, scoring 564 points (more than any other Open Age team) and conceding 230. The team were well beaten by eventual premiers Berkeley Vale in Week 1 of the Finals Series, regrouped to defeat Kincumber in Week 2, and then had Minor Premiers St Edwards on the rack in the Final, only to lose 18-16 in the dying minutes. St Edwards lost the Grand Final by a field goal in golden point extra time. Wyong were that close.

The squad comprised a mix of senior club men, some graduates from last season’s Under 19’s, a few newcomers, and one or two on the comeback trail. The grade again provided the opportunity for young players to receive some onfield mentoring from more experienced colleagues. Coach Blackhall did an excellent job balancing the needs and limitations of players in their twilight with those of younger men eager to advance and test themselves. Many players were required for Reserve Grade throughout the season, and answered the call with the pride and effort expected by

Season 2016 marked the second year of competition for the ladies. The improvement throughout Season 2015 continued this year, and at one stage the squad went on an unbeaten run of 13 consecutive matches, which included wins over Minor Premiers, The Entrance, and eventual Premiers, Erina. The growth of interest in representing Wyong Roos mirrored the increase in female participation across the game, and existing projections indicate the Club should have sufficient numbers to field two ladies league tag teams in Season 2017. Three of this year’s squad were under 15 years of age at the beginning of the season, and as the ladies’ component of the football program matures, the squad can be expected to challenge for premiership honours on a regular basis.

Injuries to key personnel, and frequent team changes prevented Reserve Grade from finding that level of consistency necessary to challenge for the title. New talent was unearthed, and at times the team produced some sparkling football, but ultimately could not quite bring it all together when it counted. Brendan Quigg and Clay McArthur both returned from sabbaticals, and looked as though they had never been away. Season 2016 may have signalled a changing of the guard, but this playing group will be remembered for its attitude and dedication.

1st grade finished eight points clear of its nearest rival at the end of the home and away season, losing only once (to Woy Woy 15-14 on 26 June). The side amassed 598 points in securing the Minor Premiership, conceded only 159 (90 less than 2nd placed The Entrance), producing a phenomenal differential of 439 over an 18 round competition. The Major Semi Final against The Entrance was a brutal affair, with Wyong running away to a 28-8 victory in the last 20 minutes. The Tigers had 11 players on the paddock that day with Ron Massey Cup experience. The Roos had 11 Wyong Juniors take the field. The Entrance did not recover from that beating, and were eliminated the following week by the Roosters. The Grand Final in the hostile environment of Woy Woy Oval was tough and torrid. The Roos withstood everything Woy Woy and its supporters had to offer, and were far too good on the day in securing a 20-0 victory and the Premiership. The work ethic, resilience and closeness of the team was fundamental to such success, and an absolute credit to Coach Clarke and his staff.

The ISP team won 11 matches and lost the same number in Season 2016. However, those bare statistics fail to properly describe the season. The Roos scored a season total of 534 points, at an average of 24.2 per game, and conceded 502 at an average of 22.8 per game. Minor Premiers, Mounties, won 19 matches and lost three, averaging 27.6 points scored per match and conceding 20.5. Eventual premiers and national champions, Illawarra Cutters, won 14 matches and lost 8, scoring on average 27.04 per game and conceding, on average, 20.2 per game.

Very little separates teams in this competition, and the corollary is that there is little margin for error. Rip believed the team should have gone at least one week deeper into the finals series. The ISP players will be better and hungrier for the experience.

Morry Breen ComplexBill Hicks and George Gladding Fields were re-drained and levelled prior to the commencement of Season 2016. The Club secured a joint NRL/NSW government grant for that purpose. The main exterior toilets have been refurbished and a new electronic scoreboard installed. Discretionary funds from NSWRL have been secured for both projects. Additionally, a static camera has been erected at the northern end of Morry Breen Field for coaching purposes. The canteen was also refurbished, pending a future extension of the licensed premises (which will include a modern replacement). Further maintenance and reconditioning of the playing surfaces is planned for the off season.

WRLCG recognizes the Morry Breen complex is a valuable community resource and critical to the sporting life of Wyong Shire and the broader Central Coast. Events such as the CRL Country Championships, PSAA Open Rugby League Carnival, NRL Under 15 Development Game Day, and Central Coast International Rugby Union 7’s competition held at Roos HQ bring people to the area and provides a financial stimulus for local businesses and service providers. The investment made by this Club in its facilities both directly and indirectly benefits the people of this region.

Rod CoxRod Cox resolved to retire as co-manager of the ISP team at the end of the season. Rod was coaxed from retirement to manage the Roos premier rugby league squad in Season 2014. Although the responsibilities and demands of the position are manifold, and the egos and personalities equally complex, Rod managed it all with grace, good humour, and a remarkable sense of obligation. Though Rod will be replaced, he will be impossible to replicate, and he leaves with the Club’s thanks and best wishes.

Matt Lavin

Football Manager, Matt Lavin, has decided to end his long, formal association with Wyong Roos. Matt was an outstanding player and premiership winner for the Club, a dedicated development officer, and very fine administrator. The work inside the Football Department can be unrelenting, even overwhelming at times, but notwithstanding the demands, Matt’s commitment to the cause never waned, and the success of the rugby league program was for him a personal thing, and never far from his thoughts. Matt also leaves with the Club’s thanks and best wishes.

Mick Callaghan

Mick Callaghan was a sitting Board member at the time of his passing. Mick had held various positions with the junior club before moving on to the seniors, and will be remembered for his friendship, unique sense of humour, and unshakeable belief that young people will always repay the faith shown in them if given the opportunity. Mick will continue to be missed. Wyong Roos is so much the better for having had Mick around.

Wyong Junior Rugby League Football Club ReportFOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

The 2016 season was another successful one for Wyong Roos Juniors.

This year we fielded 35 teams from Under 6 to Under 17 with the emphasis on enjoyment & development. Although this number of Junior teams comes with it’s challenges it also comes with reward, none more so then on Saturday’s when we bear witness to our kids right through to our young men & women displaying the passion, courage & mateship synonymous with the green & gold of the mighty Wyong Roos. I could watch for hours on end the enjoyment on the faces of our mini players as they prepare & then play when seemingly nothing else in the world matters to them during that 30 minutes of footy.

For our competition teams from Under 10 to Under 17 we witnessed the development of not only Rugby League players but decent young men & women. Some also had success with 11 teams progressing through to the semi finals, them being our 10-3, 10-1, 11-4, 11-2(Minor Premiers), 11-1, 14-1, 15-2(Minor Premiers), 15-1, 16-2, 16-1(Minor Premiers) & 17’s teams & five being fortunate enough to play in Grand Finals, them being U10-3, U11-2, U15-1, U16-2 & U16-1. Ultimately we finished with two Premiers which were our 10-3’s & 11-2’s, well done to all concerned. The above points can be attributed to the time & commitment given by our hard working coaches & coaching staff. The progression of our kids on & off the field is a result of their surroundings & role models & I take this opportunity to congratulate & thank all of the valued coaches & coaching staff for volunteering your time.

Congratulations to all 2016 representative players. In total we had over 25 players representing the Wyong Roos in representative, country championship & academy squads from U13 to U18 age groups. A special mention to Jaron Purcell from our U15-1’s who was chosen to not only represent but captain the NSW U15 team. From this he was then chosen in the Australian merit team, an extremely rare achievement. Well done to you all on your individual & collective success.

Thank you to Terry Rule & the Central Coast Division committee for your support of us & commitment to Central Coast Junior Rugby League, not an easy task.

Thank you to our senior club led by Rip Taylor, the Board of Directors of Wyong Rugby League Club & especially to Phil Langley & the football committee for your support & assistance throughout the year both on & off the field. Also to Ian Burke (NSW Cup Assistant Coach), Mitch Williams (NSW Cup Captain) & the many number of senior players that gave up their free time to assist with the development of players in our Junior system. This was much appreciated & the significant positive impact was clear to see.

Thank you to our sponsors:Austbrokers Central Coast , Northlakes Glass and Glazing , The Good Guys – Tuggerah, Evolution Security, Aubrey Brown Lawyers, Fill & Carry Fruit Market,

Lastly a huge thank you to the Junior League committee of Belinda Hill, Dean Taylor, Gavin Hayman & initially Wayne Hancock. Take pride in the achievements of our Juniors with the knowledge that all of you have greatly contributed to the day to day running of the Junior Club & any success achieved. I’d also like to mention our wider general committee volunteers, which without their help & support the Junior club simply wouldn’t be able to function. Thank you Alan & Annie Brady, Phil Walsh, Chris Hunter, Luke Blackhall, Josh & Mel Teale, Emily, Jack & Joe Teale, Matt Coombe, Bec Newton & all her canteen staff for canteen operations. Wyong Junior Rugby League Football Club ReportFOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

The 2016 season has been another successful one for Budgewoi Football Club (BFC).

Even though registrations were down on previous years, there were 513 players and 46 teams representing BFC for the 2016 season. Of the 46 teams, 37 of them represented BFC at junior level, and 9 teams at senior level. Of these teams, 19 played in competition football, with 9 of those teams qualifying for the finals series, which in its self is a fantastic effort. In addition, the 11D’s (all girls team) were Grand Finalists in the Central Coast Football U11’s tournament.

At the present time, the listed teams have accomplished the following achievements;

BFC Team Achievements;Teams playing in Grand Finals – U12B’s, U15B’s, U16B’s and M35CNTeams playing in Finals Series – MAA7Semi Finalists – M13B’s, W14A’s, WAA1, and MAA5

The 2016 has seen a continuation of BFC working closely with the WRLCG. BFC are proud to have the WRLCG come on-board as a major sponsor from 2015 to 2017. WRLCG have been very supportive and forthcoming with any requests that have been made by the BFC Committee. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the appointed manager of the Budgewoi Soccer Club, Paul Hope, for his support during the 2016 season. I would like to thank the entire bar staff for their assistance and help when needed, and Brent Farnworth for all the effort and support that he has provided to the BFC this year. Taking everything into consideration, I can only see the relationship between the BFC and WRLCG getting stronger and stronger, which in turn will benefit all parties involved.

The Budgewoi Soccer Club is a fantastic club, which has a lot of passionate members and patronage. If it wasn’t for the support of the WRLCG, the club wouldn’t be the pleasurable little club it is today.

I would like to thank my hard working executives, Alicia Hills (Junior Vice President) and Robbie Collins (Senior Vice President) for their support, hard work and commitment throughout the 2016 season. We would have not accomplished and achieved what we have this season, if it wasn’t for the efforts of these two. A big thankyou goes to Leanne Faber (U10 – U18’s Coordinator), Maria Berrios (U5 – U9’s Coordinator), Sharon Hyland and Rob Alston (Cadet Referee Coordinators) and the committee members, for their hard work, in what can be a very tireless and thankless job. Also, a big thankyou goes to the Budgewoi Soccer Club Coordinator, Haydn Appo, for the support and hard work that he has put into the 2016 for BFC.

BFC is going form strength to strength, and I am of the opinion that 2017 will deliver greater success to our club.

The Bay Bowlers Report

2015-2016 has been a most successful year and for all that has been achieved; your committee has worked tirelessly in their efforts to ensure all The Bay Bowlers have a great time.

Our visitations this year have been a highlight, starting with the weekend away in September to Windang. This was followed up with visits to Mingara, St John’s Park, East Maitland and Gwandalan, with a return visit from St John’s Park thrown in. Thank you Sue Robb for a job well done.

The Christmas Party was well attended, with 127 enjoying the day and dancing to the music of Brassick. A great meal was presented by the Wyong Leagues Club and our raffles well supported.

A ‘Scroungers’ Bowls Day was held this year under the sponsorship of Road Runner Tours and everyone (72 bowlers) enjoyed the new initiative and we are requesting a follow up event. Thanks to our ladies for presenting everyone with a lovely lunch.

Our Creightons Memorial Triples was again a big success with 78 players (26 teams) and our thanks goes to Creightons Funeral Services for their sponsorship and to Graham Cameron for organizing the pizza’s for lunch and afternoon cheese and biscuits.

Our Championships this year saw two marathon singles matches played. Firstly in the Ladies Singles Lisa Caswell defeated Sue Robb 25-22 (in 35 ends), then in the Men’s Singles Graham Cameron defeated Doug Roffey 31-30 (in 37 ends). The Mixed Pairs was won by Adrian Last and Shirley Coltman, with runners up Graham and Cynthia Cameron.

A big thank you to the Wyong Bowling Club staff and our Greenkeepers – having Kim Smith back has certainly brought our greens back to what we have enjoyed for many years – thank you Kim.

Renewals as at July were down slightly (177), but it won’t be long before we are back over 200 bowling members again and the envy of a lot of bowling clubs.

During the year we have made $500 donations to the following charities. Salvation Army Christmas Food Appeal, Careflight and McDonald House Family Room at Gosford hospital.

Our trip away this year is to Diamond Beach, staying at the Seashells Resort, bowling two days at Black Head and then on Monday a lunch cruise with Free Spirit Cruises at Forster. A lot of time and effort has gone into planning of the weekend and if it’s like our other trips away – a good weekend will be had by all.

Canton Bowlers Report

Once again I have the pleasure to report on a successful year for Canton Mixed Bowlers.

We love our bowls, and play to win, but our main objective is to ensure that everyone who comes to play, member or visitor, experienced bowler or novice, has an enjoyable time.

This year we are proud to have assisted in the rehabilitation of a wheelchair dependant bowler, who has now progressed to bowling with the aid of a walking stick. Age or injury are no bar to our bowlers as we often share a team spot with bowlers playing half a game until they return to full fitness.

The other important part of Canton Bowlers, is our social side where we try to augment the bowling experience with dinner nights, BBQ’s, Xmas, and of course Australia Day celebrations. We also award weekly prizes for winners, losers, and lucky picks. For the seventh year running we held a charity day, with the proceeds donated to Camp Breakaway, a local charity supporting disabled children and their carers. This year we presented Camp Breakaway with a cheque for $2500. We have also donated to “Shirley Shuttle Bus”, another local charity, providing hospital transport for cancer patients.

My goal during my presidency is to work closely with Wyong Rugby League Club, Canton Beach Sports Club, staff and greenkeepers, and the Men’s and Women’s Bowling Clubs. I am lucky to have an excellent working relationship with all of the above, and will strive to maintain and build upon that relationship. I would also like to commend the greenkeepers for their exceptional work in providing high quality playing surfaces despite the extremes of heat and rain that we have endured this year. I have also been most fortunate in retaining an efficient and knowledgeable executive and committee.

We have benefitted from a steady influx of new recruits. We have also had the pleasure of nurturing new bowlers who have been recommended to us by the Men’s and Women’s Bowling Clubs, and their coaching staff. Two of our members are now qualified club coaches, and we now have several umpires within our ranks.

We have enjoyed visitations from both Morisset and Toronto Bowling Clubs.

This year’s treasurer’s report shows that membership remains at a fairly constant level, the club remains on a stable financial footing, with the club raffles being well supported, and that we closed the year with a positive financial balance.

The aim of my executive, committee, and myself, is to ensure that Canton Bowlers, within the structure of the WRLC organisation, remains a place to enjoy mixed bowls

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, and we look forward with the support of WRLC, the Men’s, and Women’s Bowling Clubs to the coming year.

Wyong Women’s Bowling Club ReportFOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

After another year of successful bowling, the Wyong Bowling Club Ladies would like to thank the Wyong Rugby League Club Group for their continued assistance and support. We would also like to thank the Management and bistro staff at the Wyong Bowling Club for all the help they have extended to us during the past year. Thanks also go to our greenkeeper Kim and helpers.

Donations this year were made to the Ronald McDonald Room at Gosford Hospital. We also gave a substantial donation to the Biggest Morning Tea with funds being raised from a Garage Sale and also a Club Biggest Morning Tea function which was very successful.

Our membership this year stands at 76. During the year some older members have resigned and others have transferred to other Clubs. Our deepest sympathies are extended to Ladies who have lost family members this year.

As in past years, in November we hosted the children of St. Cecelia’s Primary School for a period of one hour per week over five weeks in coaching classes, and both the children and those adult members who assisted had a very enjoyable time. We may see some bowling stars of the future from these endeavours.

Teams from our Club again competed in the District Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours. We were also represented in the Hetherington Trophy, Challenge Cup, and the Pink Ribbon Cup for Breast Cancer. There are always a large number of teams entered in these competitions from all over the Central Coast and our Club is well represented every year. It should be noted that a Pairs Team of Barbara Jansen and Joyce Pirie from Wyong were successful in winning the District Senior Pairs Competition, and also a Fours Team of Barbara Jansen, Judy Wheatley, Cynthia Cameron and Marilyn Last were successful in winning the District Open Fours Competition. These two teams will now play in the Regional Playoffs at the beginning of August, which is a prelude to playing in the State Playoffs. We wish them every success in this endeavour.

Two teams were entered in Pennants in 2016 and both teams played very well.

We also had a Wyong team in the Saturday Morning Triples competition played each year over 5 weeks in August.

Our own Club Championships were well supported, with the following results:Singles Champion: Laurel AndrewsPairs Champions: Barbara Jansen, Joyce PirieTriples Champions: Laurel Andrews, Mary Hickey, Julie CoulsonFours Champions: Barbara Jansen, Joyce Pirie, Carol McCleer, Mary Anderson

During the year several other special Days and Tournaments were run including the Roo & Joey and Versatility Fours competitions, Friendship Day, Baker Trophy, the Frewin Trophy, and our annual competition against Kurri Kurri and also the Joan Williams Shield against Lemon Tree Passage. These days were very successful. We also play each year against Wyong RSL.

Finally we must pay tribute and give special thanks to our Sponsors, the Creightons Group and the Wyong Rugby League Club Group, whose continued support is very much appreciated.

Goulburn Railway Men’s Bowling Club ReportFOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

Our club had a successful year but owing to recent adverse weather has had a slight decrease in our bowling numbers on the green, however we are able to report an increase in Bowling Numbers as of the start of 2016/17 and are hopeful this will continue.

We have now had two of our greens laser levelled and the quality of the greens is now as good as any others in the area. Thanks go to the Wyong Rugby League Club Group, our Greenkeeper Michael and all concerned.

This year we inducted three Life Members into our Club. They are Leo Haynes, Boyd Cook and John Adams. These three deserving members have given above and beyond for many years and are deserving of this award and are to be congratulated for their effort.

Scott Cooper, our venue manager since we became part of the Wyong Group, has decided to accept a new position within the town. We thank him very much for his assistance and guidance over the past 6 years and wish him all the best in his new position. We now welcome Stuart Joyce as our new Venue Manager and I would like to thank Stuart for all of his assistance and the co-operation he has shown to date.

It also gave us great pleasure to see our Men’s Rose Tournament being successfully run again. Without the assistance of Scott, our Club volunteers, the mother Club and the caterers this could not have been possible. Thanks go to Greg Rice especially as one of the major players in getting this Tournament successful again. Also it was great to see the presentations done by the family of the late Joe Cooke who was the Instigator of this tournament.

On a sad note again there are some members who have passed away and they will all be missed. Condolences go to all of their families and friends.

Congratulations go to all of our Championship winners over the past 12 months. As a result of some changes made this year the championships had an increase in participants.

This year in our enlarged Zone 5 we had two Pennants Teams entered and though we were not successful it has given us the makings for better results in the next few years. Our thanks go to our Pennants Selectors.

We held a very successful Mini Tournament as well last year and intend to again hold more of these.

The Intra Club Weekend held at Wyong Bowling Club was a great success and we congratulate all concerned with the organization. We look forward again to this year’s visit to be held at Bateau Bay on the 8th and 9th October.

We held a combined presentation day this year with the Ladies that was very successful. This is to be held again this year. We have an excellent relationship with the Ladies Club and integrate our programme with them where possible. This year the President of our Ladies Club, Joyce Wade, has decided to stand down after many years in that position. We wish her all the best and thank her for her cooperation and assistance at all times.

It has been a pleasure for us through the year to support several charities that have included Cerebral Palsy, Legacy and the Prostate Cancer Group.

We look forward to another successful and rewarding year in 2016/17 and look forward to the increasing fellowship within the group of clubs.

Thanking you

Goulburn Railway Women’s Bowling Club ReportFOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

This year we have been pleased to welcome one new member to the club. Our membership currently stands at 42 and we have possibly another member “in the pipeline”. All new members of our club are taught by our three accredited coaches and we are very grateful to them for their involvement and support.

An important part of our calendar is the pennants season. We can be proud of our performance this year. Our Grade 2 pennant side is a “stand out” side as there are no other clubs in our district which field a grade two side. This means the side automatically won the district pennant and progressed to the Region playoff. The Grade 3 side defeated Bowral to win the district pennant and progress to the Region playoff also. In June the playoffs were held at Goulburn Railway Bowling Club. Unfortunately the Twos side was defeated by Warilla and the Threes went down to Windang.

In February we conducted our twentieth anniversary Rose Tournament when the club hosted 36 triples teams over a two day event which attracted entries from the Southern Tablelands, South Coast, Sydney and Central Coast. This is a prestige and very popular tournament.

We have two further major events planned: In October we will host an Open Triples event which will attract entries from district clubs and in November our club will be the venue for a Veterans’ Day to honour older bowlers from the region. A possible eighty veterans are expected to participate in the celebration.

We have completed our club championships. Results are:

Major SinglesThis event was staged in April with the winner being Karen Marshall, who went on to win the District Singles but was defeated in the Region final.

Club Pairs Staged in March, this championship was won by Heather Thornton and Margaret Lawless.

Club Triples In July the club Triples championship took place with the winning team being Dorothy Wilson, Lorraine McNeil and Jodie Marshall.

Club FoursThis event was played in May with the winning team being Dorothy Wilson, Mary Leslie, Lorraine McNeil and Ann Redhead.

Club Minor SinglesThe Minor Singles championship was staged in August with the winner being Cheryl Corby.

Goulburn Railway Women’s Bowling Club Report (cont.)FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

First up I am submitting this report on behalf of our President Barry Beavis who sadly become gravely ill in the latter part of this year.

The past 12months have been both very rewarding and also very sad. A few months ago President Barry suffered a brain aneurysm leaving me as acting President up to the AGM this was followed with the passing of two very hard working Committee members, John Bourke and Ian Baker leaving a very large hole in the Committee.

The past 12 months has seen quite a few new challenges for us as a bowls committee, we have in the past month lost the services of our bowls co-ordinator (Kevin Trezise) whose contract ended in July. Kevin has indicated that he is prepared to continue assisting the committee where possible and we thank him for this generous offer.

In making this report I must thank a great deal of members for all their assistance and if I miss anyone I sincerely apologise, first up my committee who have taken up the slack left through illness and death it has been a great effort. The running of the bowls office has been taken over by Nevil Brown which has helped us immensely, the Wyong Rugby League Club has gone out of its way to allow us to continue running bowls with as little inconvenience as possible. The pennant selectors thank you for your efforts in a most difficult and thankless role as we still continue to try and improve our results in the zone pennants and while on the subject of pennants thank you to all the managers and helpers throughout 2016. I would like to thank Dean Wilson for his ongoing efforts with membership and all the other jobs he performs for the club.

Last year we had the introduction of Sunday scroungers thanks firstly to Kevin Trezise and Ray Peck who formatted this idea for the Club. Dennis Baker, Paul Hannagan, Dean Wilson and Karen Jones and I am sure a lot more were involved. Up till scroungers started our Sunday bowls was virtually non-existent to all those who participate in this event the committee thank you.

Congratulations to our R S L bowlers who continue to go from strength to strength we look forward to working together in the upcoming year.

Finally I would like to offer my sympathy and condolences to all who lost family and friends in the past year.
