Every week there will be five new ones.
If you are finding them tricky, use different strategies to help you such as rainbow writing, pyramid
writing, look cover check, mnemonics, bubble writing and silly sentences.
It would be brilliant if you could ask a grown up or older sibling to test you and then email your
teacher your score on 2email (2email can be found on purple mash).
2. One of the most common ways in which people like to sustain a healthy diet recently has been
through drinking smoothies! Smoothies are a great, easy way to drink many of the amazing
nutrients that fruits and vegetables provide for us.
Can you create a leaflet to instruct somebody how to make the perfect smoothie? To create the
leaflet, grab a piece of paper and fold it in half, then in half again! Below are some reminders of
some of the features for a set of instructions. There are also two word mats at the bottom of this
document to help you with some vocabulary.

3. Kicking off a healthy-me topic without an active challenge would not be right! Grab your nearest
piece of sports equipment, it does not matter what it is. It could be any type of ball, tennis
equipment, hockey equipment, anything! Your challenge is to see how many times you can keep
your ball in the air without dropping it! Each time you drop it, you must do 10 star jumps before
you give it another attempt. Maybe you could get other family members involved and do the
challenge together, or maybe even go against each other to see who gets the highest score? Feel
free to use 2email to tell Mr Hamilton, which type of sports equipment you used, if you had to
do many star jumps and what your highest score was!
(Pro Tip: If you do not have any sports equipment, scrunch up a ball of paper and use it as a
volleyball or blow up a balloon if you have one. This is what Mr Hamilton used to do to keep himself
busy when he was your age, lots of fun is assured!)
Online learning activities
Make sure that you save and ‘hand in’ the 2dos when you complete them so your teacher can
view your learning and write a comment.
1. Earlier in the year, we learnt about properties of lines during our maths lessons. During this
time, we learnt how to spot perpendicular lines (lines that meet at a right angle). We also
learnt that angles where two lines meet at greater than a right angle are called obtuse
angles. On the other hand, two lines that meet at an angle less than a right angle are known
as acute angles.
Can you complete the ‘Acute and Obtuse’ 2do on purple mash and correctly label these
angles?
2. Eating healthily is a huge part of staying healthy! What we eat has a big impact on many
things. For example, the health of our vital organs like the heart, our ability to think clearly
and even how much energy we have throughout the day! What is your favourite healthy
meal?
Using the ‘Plan a Meal’ 2do, can you draw and label your meal? Use the caption box at the
bottom to explain which ingredients make the meal healthy!
3. Read chapter 4 of ‘The Switcher’ on Purple Mash. Complete the multiple-choice quiz to
check your understanding and then complete the ‘switching place’ writing task.
There are also a number of other activities that you can complete for this chapter. You can
find these additional activities by searching for ‘The Switcher’ on Purple Mash and clicking
on the PDF activities in the chapter 4 section.
Read
Remember to read every day – it does not have to be a paper book! You could try a
newspaper, a magazine, a book on Bug Club or a Serial Mash book on Purple Mash. Write a review about a book that you have enjoyed reading over half term. Make sure that
you include the following information: the title, the author’s name, a summary of what
happens, reasons for why you enjoyed the book and why someone else might enjoy it.
