• June 28th 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand visited Sarajevo (Bosnian capital)

• Gavrilo Princip assassinated the Archduke & his wife because he was a member of the Black Hand- a terrorist group that believed Bosnia should belong to Serbia (not Austria Hungary)
