House hunters looking for a bargain should look no further than Wyndham, according to the Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV).

Properties in three of the municipalitys suburbs have been included in the REIVs top-10 bargain buys in Melbourne.

Topping the list was a three-bedroom house in Werribee on the market for $240,000. e price was well below the suburbs December quarter median price of $330,000.

e property was followed by a three-bedroom house in Hoppers Crossing selling for $299,999. Last December, the median house price in Hoppers Crossing was $337,500

Also making the list was a house in Wyndham Vale on the market for $352,500.

Other western suburbs rounding out the list included Deer Park and Craigieburn, with four suburbs from Melbournes south and east also making the cut.

REIV communications, policy and public aairs manager Paul Bird said the list proved that house hunters could still nd bargains in Melbourne.

For about $240,000, a three-bedroom brick home can be all yours, he said.

Mr Bird said Wyndham suburbs remained aordable for buyers because they were slightly farther from the CBD but still within reach.

Max Pini wasnt expected to survive long beyond birth.

But the bubbly, energetic six-year-old Point Cook boy continues to defy the odds despite six strokes and undergoing open-heart surgery four times, including his rst when he was just nine days old following heart failure.

Max was born with a complex cyanotic congenital heart defect, a life-shortening condition that results in a low blood-oxygen level.

During an operation to correct a twisted bowel, he started having seizures and had his rst stroke aged just one month.

Following his third open-heart surgery, he was struck down by another three strokes that le him with weakness on his le side.

Despite getting back to walking independently, Max has lost the use of his le arm.

His parents, Mathew and Kirsten, are constantly on edge knowing each day with their son could be the last. Sometimes he wakes up and says he doesnt want to do it any more, Mr Pini said. When you hear your son say something like that, its heartbreaking.

As well as epilepsy, severe migraines, autism and anxiety attacks due to his regular hospital visits and almost daily medical appointments, Max also has heterotaxy meaning many of his organs are in the wrong position. He has no spleen and is beset by balance, feeding and speech issues.

Last year, aer more surgery on his heart, he suered another stroke and now has balance diculties and involuntary twitching of his le arm and leg.

Mrs Pini said Max was constantly at risk.Because of the set-up of his heart, even

    Bravery to the Max

Mathew and Kirsten Pini with Max and Patrick. (Joe Mastroianni)

catching the common cold can cause another stroke, she said.

Max needs a new saturation monitor to keep track of his oxygen levels and heart rate at home, tie-down anchors so his wheelchair can go on the school bus and other equipment to help him around the house.

To help the Pini family, a fundraiser will

be held this Sunday from 11am to 2pm at e Brook at Sneydes, 215 Sneydes Road, Point Cook. It will include stalls, sausage sizzle, raes, face-painting and childrens entertainment. Entry is by gold coin donation. Visit the Support for Maxwell Pini Facebook page, or to donate to the rae, phone Jodie Turner on 9394 6444.

Heartless thieves have ripped up $5000 worth of articial turf from the oval at a Wyndham Vale primary school.

A six-metre by three-metre section of the grass was stolen from Iramoo Primary School in a brazen late-night attack on March 10.

Principal Moira Findlay told Star Weekly the Star Weekly the Star Weeklythe was hard to believe.

It makes you shake your head, she said. How can people be so ordinary, particularly towards a primary school?

eres so much disappointment because most of our fundraising goes to improving our school grounds, and theyre a great source of community pride.

Ms Findlay said the thieves had come prepared with equipment to cut the turf and take it away in a ute.

According to [CCTV] footage, they were in the school at 10.15pm and had gone by 10.20pm, so it all happened very quickly, she said.

e school will now have to nd the money to replace the turf. Its a real shame that something else will suer, as that money could be used to buy books or other things for our children.

Werribee polices Senior Constable Kelly Innes said it was clear the thieves had little regard for others.

Youd think a school playground would be a no-go for the common thief but, alas, thats not the case, she said.

Anyone with information should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Two of Wyndhams most notorious intersections will be upgraded as part of a $13 million roadworks package.

Werribee MP Tim Pallas last week announced the start of improvements to the Princes Highway-Hoppers Lane and Princes Highway-Sneydes Road intersections.

e Princes Highway and Hoppers Lane intersection will receive new trac lights and be widened to accommodate additional lanes, with footpaths around the intersection to be

linked with the pedestrian crossing to allow easier access to the nearby Werribee Mercy Hospital, Suzanne Cory High School, Victoria University and Hoppers Crossing railway station.

Both intersections will receive new street lighting to improve visibility and safety.

Mr Pallas said East Werribee road improvements projects also included widening Sneydes Road and the construction of the Sneydes Road diamond interchange, which would provide another connection to Princes Freeway.

    Dangerous roads overhauled

e interchange will be built in two stages, with the Melbourne-bound lanes to be constructed rst. Work will then start on the Geelong-bound lanes before removal of the Sneydes Road bridge over the freeway.

All of the works are due to be completed by late next year.

ese upgrades will make the intersections safer for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists and support local trac into the future, Mr Pallas said. e East West Employment Precinct will be huge for jobs and growth, so we need to upgrade the local roads now.

In 2013, the former Coalition government announced $72 million in funding for East Werribee, including $9.6 million to realign the Hoppers Lane-Princes Highway intersection and $16.9 million to upgrade Sneydes Road, on top of $40 million for the diamond interchange.

These upgrades will make the intersections safer - Tim Pallas

A teenager girl who put a classmate in hospital following an alleged assault at a Wyndham high school last week is expected to be charged by police.

e victims mother, Sonya (not her real name) told 3AW her 15-year-old daughter was attacked during the lunch break on March 10 by a girl who she claimed had been bullying her for weeks.

She claimed her daughter was eating her lunch when she was approached by the alleged attacker, also aged 15.

Sonya said her daughters hair was grabbed before she was kneed in the face, punched, kicked and pushed down stairs.

It was very heartbreaking to see my daughter in the situation she was, she said. Emotionally, shes a wreck. School bullying is still going on and we need to put a stop to it.

Sonya said her daughter was taken to hospital by ambulance and le in a neck brace.

However, she was upset when she was told by the school they would only be issuing her daughters alleged attacker with a ve-day suspension.

I did tell the school that it was quite unacceptable, Sonya said.

e schools principal conrmed an incident had taken place between two year 10 students last week and it had taken disciplinary action.

e alleged attacker has been interviewed by police and released pending a summons.

Omar Haddara is doted on by his ve older siblings, but no one does more for him than his mum Ida.

e Truganina mother grapples with the usual demands of a family, as well as eight-year-old Omars special needs.

He was born with spastic quadriplegia and cerebral palsy, depends on an oxygen tank and suers from vision impairment, intellectual disabilities and chronic lung disease.

Hes a joyful boy, who smiles and giggles all the time, even when he becomes ill, Mrs Haddara said.

Hes a tall boy, weighs 26 kilograms and continues to grow, which makes his care increasingly hard to manage.

Hes completely dependent on me for feeding, toileting, mobility, dressing and showering.

We continuously adapt our home and family life to better manage his needs and give him the best quality of life.

e family is in desperate need of a wheelchair-accessible van to transport Omar and is hoping the community can help raise the $60,000 needed to modify a van to his needs.

Currently, Omar is lied in and out of the car by one of his parents and is unable to have his wheelchair with him on outings because it takes up so much space that no one else can t in the car.

[It] will enable Omar to attend critical medical appointments, give him greater access to the community to prevent social isolation and give us a chance to go out all together like other families, Mrs Haddara said.

She said she had applied to various groups to help buy the vehicle but had been told they no longer assist with this type of funding.

    Mums plea for mobility

Victorias statewide equipment program, funded by the Department of Human Services, will pay a maximum of $2000 for modications but only aer the vehicle has been bought.

Its sad to know theres not much help and that parents like us are doing it tough, Mrs Haddara said. Were working as hard as we

Scar clue to teenage robbers Police are appealing for help to nd a group of nine teenagers who robbed a 14-year-old boy in Wyndham Vale last month. The group confronted the boy in Evergreen Drive about 8pm on February 24. One of the teenagers police are looking for is aged 14 or 15, with a thin build, short brown hair and a diagonal scar between his eyebrows.

Drugs on boardA simple trafc stop turned into a drug bust last week. A 30-year-old Altona Meadows woman was pulled over by police on Heaths Road, Werribee, on March 10 for driving a vehicle without number plates. Police found a quantity of drugs and cash along with drug paraphernalia. The woman was arrested and charged with possession and use of a drug of dependence and bailed to appear in court in June.

Parenting a teenWyndham City, together with FMC Mediation and Counselling Victoria are hoping to make the transition to adulthood easier for teens by presenting an information night for parents of teenagers tomorrow (Thursday). It will be held at Point Cook Community Learning Centre, 1-21 Cheetham Street, from 7pm. To register, e-mail [email protected].

My dad, Phil Hillier, passed away last week. It was not unexpected but it was still very sad, as will be his funeral this week. While he was born in Sydney and lived in Tasmania and Queensland, so much of what made my father the man he was happened in the west of Melbourne.

He grew up in Benbow Street, Yarraville, with his mum and joined the RAAF, which posted him to Townsville where he met my mother. He was then posted to Laverton, where I was born. Dad was a motor body builder at the RAAF base in Laverton and we lived o the base in Ulm Street.

A few years back, dad visited and was completely blown away by what had become of his old workplace and the fact there was a rapidly growing suburb where he used to work. Across the highway in Point Cook was an explosion of houses where he used to take us mushroom picking.

Williamstown Beach used to be a day trip for us. Mind you, getting to Point Cook can still take you a day depending on trac. Dads

passing made me think of how the role of a father has changed. Dad was the breadwinner, mum stayed at home and did the household duties. Dad did all the around-the-house work like lawn mowing and mum did all the cooking and cleaning. Mum did the shopping and dad did the nances. Mum was there when we got home from school and dad was there when we got into trouble (to boot us up the backside).

e parental roles today are so much more exible and shared, and I am so glad that is the case. In so many families now, dad is not the one who brings home the bacon and mum is not chained to the kitchen.

We have learned to share the responsibilities of parenting and working. Hopefully that is a positive thing for our children and the generations to come. Stay-at-home dads and full-time working mums is something my dad would never have thought possible in his youth.

I know dad would not have changed a thing in his life, but I am glad that life has changed for me and my children.

Kevin Hillier reects on the changing nature of family roles

Wyndham residents in need of mental health services may be missing out as the city has only half as many Medicare-supported mental health experts as other areas.

A Monash University study shows Wyndham has 45 psychiatrist services and 24 psychologist services per 1000 people.

Hobsons Bay, has 99 psychiatric services and 46 psychology services per 1000 people, while Maribyrnong has 109 psychiatric services and 52 psychology services. Brimbank has 67 psychiatric and 26 psychology services.

people, fewer of them actually seek it. Professor Meadows said it was concerning that regional areas such as Greater Geelong and Ballarat had more psychiatric and clinical psychology services than Wyndham.

Greater Geelong has 70 psychiatric services and 30 psychology services per 1000 people.

Were condent lower socio-economic areas have higher rates of . . . depression and anxiety, Professor Meadows said.

ose disorders sometimes remit, but oen they persist or become chronic in the absence of treatment.

is means those people may have more

Lead researcher Professor Graham Meadows said areas such as Wyndham were powerful examples of big variations in quite close areas.

People living in disadvantaged and rural areas typically receive a mental health service model characterised by lower volumes of service and provided by less highly trained providers, he said.

Working in the Better Access to Mental Health Care program, researchers analysed 25 million Medicare-supported mental health service interactions from 2007 to 2011.

e analysis highlights that although more psychological help is needed by less-wealthy

diculty at work and wont be as able to function in higher-earning positions.

eyre also more likely to become unemployed, have family issues and possible substance abuse problems.

Quite a lot of people may be missing out on what they really need.

Professor Meadows said the solution was a complete reform of our highly confused and poorly organised health care system.

I dont have a simple answer, he said. A start could be by changing Medicare rebates. It might help somewhat but I think, long term, a deeper structural reform is needed.

A Tarneit school hopes a new online method of reporting bullying will encourage more students to come forward and seek help.

Ahead of this Fridays National Day of Action Against Bullying, Tarneits omas Carr College has developed a bully box, which enables students to send emails to well-being sta if they witness an incident or are being bullied themselves.

ese concerns can then be followed up by sta, allowing the appropriate action to be taken.

e leader of the colleges student well-being team, Susan Ward, said the bully box would oer students another avenue for reporting bullying.

It also gave them more choices of how they could access support.

Many students dont want to be perceived as dobbing, she said. Some may feel very comfortable walking straight up to a sta member and telling them directly if they have a problem or concern. Others prefer email because its less daunting and less visible.

Principal Dr Andrew Watson said the new approach was part of the schools zero-tolerance approach to bullying.

We need to continue to encourage our students to report any bullying they experience or witness, he said.

e bully box highlights in a very practical and tangible way that students dont have to put up with bullying and that there are avenues for support.

This week I spoke at length with Grade 5 students at Manor Lakes College on the role of the Mayor & Council. I was requested to wear our Mayoral Robes, and although they are too formal for my liking, students were fascinated about their origins and history. There were think the needs of our local area would be in the future.

I reckon were in good hands if some of these Grade 5 students become our future leaders, which they probably that kids are far more comfortable in

Residents of a quiet Tarneit street are up in arms about a proposal to open a childcare centre in their slice of suburbia.

A planning permit application for the Leading Leaps Early Learning Centre on Royal Oaks Drive is in its advertising stage and neighbours are making their objections known.

Royal Oaks Drive resident Paul Busuttil said he was concerned about the plan to turn the two-storey house into a kinder for 36 children.

Noisy kinder not wantedIts a nice, quiet estate and weve put our life

savings into it, he said. All the residents are pretty upset. It aects us all and itll become like a main road and inhibit our access.

We can hear the kids from omas Carr College and thats in the next estate, while this is two doors down. Almost 40 kids will make it noisier and busier than it should be.

Wyndham council has received 32 objections to the proposal so far.

e estimated cost to turn the house into a fully-edged childcare centre is $35,000.

We were the rst to the estate and had to obey all these covenants and regulations and now theyre able to do whatever, Mr Busuttil said. Itll devalue our properties and the whole estate. e rates are pretty high here as its supposed to be prestigious, so were all pretty upset.

I cant understand how this application has got this far, but we plan to try everything to make sure it doesnt happen.

e applicant did not respond to Star Weekly before publication deadline.

Two Wyndham secondary schools have come out in defence of trade training centres, saying they are highly successful and used well.

e comments come as federal Assistant Education and Training Minister Scott Birmingham trumpeted a scathing review of Labors Trade Training Centres (TTCs) in Schools program.

Senator Birmingham said the independent review commissioned by the Abbott government found TTCs were more about ashy new buildings than training and some facilities were at risk of becoming white elephants.

TTCs are in-school training facilities for students in years 9 to 12 and apprentices.

Mackillop College VET-course leader Mark Westgarth said his schools TTC, which focuses on mechanical engineering and fabrication, was very successful.

Its brilliant. Victoria is the only state with a dedicated certicate for vocational training so that might be a reason theyre ashy, but the students are specially trained, Mr Westgarth said.

[e training centre] meets the needs of our kids, and were still only in the initial stages. Its also being used for teaching a technology subject for younger students, and Gordon University is also hoping to use it, so the whole community can benet.

Senator Birmingham said the independent review was commissioned because

employers told us that TTC graduates did not have the skills they needed.

Unsurprisingly, the review nds TTCs were failing students and employers because Labor rushed the policy, focused on buildings rather than student outcomes, and failed to establish any performance benchmark, Senator Birmingham said.

is review focused on TTCs that opened before 2012. Wyndhams facilities are not covered.

Last month, the $3.2 million TTC at omas Carr College in Tarneit was opened. It is part of a $9.4 million pledge by the former federal Labor government to build four trade training centres at omas Carr College, e Grange P-12 College, Mackillop College and Wyndham Central Secondary College.

e Grange P-12 College principal David Smillie said the 80 students enrolled in the automotive technology subject at his school had a foot into the industry. I know theyre all very well used in Wyndham, he said. Were currently in negotiations with local business and major corporations to see where we can link in with them and use the TTCs for apprentice training.

Its about time that kids in the west had access to quality resources.

    Principals back trade training

Students at Alamanda College in Point Cook are riding, walking, scooting and skating their way to better health.

e school has become the third in Wyndham with an active travel plan, launching it as part of National Ride to School Day last Friday.

In partnership with Bicycle Network, the college has laid stickers on footpaths outlining popular and safe routes to school to encourage parents to leave their cars at home.

Teacher Ryan Ma said it was important for the school to support healthy habits.

We know that trac congestion is an issue for many schools, especially at drop-o and pick-up time, he said.

It seems to be working. In the short time since weve implemented the plan, weve gone from one in three students walking or riding to

school to one in two. Our goal is to increase that to 60 per cent.

Another ve schools Iramoo, Bellbridge and St James e Apostle primary schools as well as e Grange P-12 College and Manor Lakes P-12 College will receive $5000 grants to develop active travel plans as part of Wyndham councils Healthy Together Wyndham program.

e councils community well-being portfolio holder, Cr Bob Fairclough, said walking or riding to school was a great start to the day. Taking the active way to school is an opportunity to talk with your children, teach them about road safety and get to know other families along the same route, he said.

Whats your connection to the local community?Im an actress and director of the Screen Actors Australia acting studio in Werribee, where I teach workshops and classes for children, teenagers and adults. Students learn to build their condence and work as a team, along with how to read and write scripts and operate cameras and lighting. Professional Australian actors such as Andy McPhee, Scott Major and Carla Bonner teach classes at the studio, and casting directors visit. e students and I were involved in the Weerama Festival last year and hope to be again. I moved to Wyndham Vale two years ago to be closer to my studio and Ive been acting since I was ve. I was involved in many Australian TV shows, including Neighbours, Kath and Kim, Stingers, e Secret Life of Us and Blue Heelers. I love acting because it allows me to live in the moment of a character and freely express emotions when, in real life, people oen suppress them. Im hoping to do Wyndham proud by auditioning for an upcoming TV series called is is Your Life Change, which is about people pushing their minds, bodies and spirits to turn their dreams mine is becoming a well-known actress into reality.

What do you like about your neighbourhood? Its great for families, especially Werribee Mansion and zoo. ere are beautiful parks and plenty of entertainment for children. I oen take my family for picnics to celebrate birthdays at local parks.

MY WYNDHAMActress Robyn Duse has appeared in some of Australias best-known TV shows. Shes now helping the next generation of potential stars realise their dreams, as Rebecca Miller discovered.

I like that the area is growing and how multicultural it is.

What would you change in your neighbour- hood?We have the Wyndham Cultural Centre, but Id like to see more of the arts represented. We need more places that are aordable to hire for end-of-year performances and we need more quality family-friendly restaurants.

How do you spend your downtime?I enjoy travelling to Hollywood to learn more about the acting scene and bringing information back to my students. Time with family and friends is also important.

Whats your favourite eatery or coee place?I dont drink coee. I oen buy lunch on Watton Street and like Jaa as they have healthy options such as vegie soup and rice paper rolls.

Two new Catholic schools opened their doors this year to meet the growing demand for a Catholic education in Melbournes west and there are more schools on the way.

St John the Apostle primary in Tarneit West and St Clares primary in Truganina South have been embraced by students and families.

Parents really like the warm atmosphere when they step through the front gate, St Clares principal Andrew Leighton says.

They feel welcomed and supported, and take enormous comfort in the knowledge that the same thing is happening for their children.

There are 16 Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Wyndham region.

Taking into account growth trajectories across the state, Catholic Education Melbourne executive director Stephen Elder believes that number could rise by as many as six in the next 10 years.

He says continued academic achievement is one reason Victorian Catholic school enrolments have this year surpassed 210,000 for the rst time.

In VCE, the median study score universally regarded as the best way to judge performance for Catholic schools in and around Melbourne was well above the Victorian all-schools gure.

Our schools strive for excellence in everything they do, Mr Elder says.

Those results are symbolic of the dedication and commitment our teachers and staff display every day of every year.

A Catholic education equips students with the tools to shape a greater understanding of themselves and their world through the lens of the Gospel.

And to be empowered to take action and leadership in the establishment of a more just society.

    Growing in every way

Parents and families are being encouraged to join in the spirit of Catholic Education Week to help celebrate both the rich tradition and bright future of Catholic schools.

Catholic Education Week, which runs until March 22, provides the perfect opportunity to reect on what makes Catholic schools such vibrant, caring and sought-after places of learning.

Catholic Education Melbourne executive director Stephen Elder says that while there are several factors in making Catholic education so dynamic, developing a strong foundation for future learning is critical.

We discover what matters to our students and help to identify what they want from life, what will give them joy, Mr Elder says. Without a strong sense of self, successful learning and achievement is difcult to attain. Self-regard is a powerful motivator in all walks of life and its no different when it comes to education.

Catholic teaching and learning programs are based around diversity and dignity, and engage students at a social and emotional level, forever strengthening the critical bond of trust.

Catholic schools focus on a range of factors that put the whole child at the heart of education.

A holistic approach celebrates each childs capabilities within an open-minded and balanced platform, honouring the intellectual, pastoral, spiritual and physical components of student formation.

We want our students to explore the big questions in life and to do so with a clear vision of what is good about themselves, their relationships and the world in which they live, Mr Elder says. We have a very rich past and our future is just as strong. Catholic beliefs about the innate dignity of the human person, the importance of the common good and sensitivity for our precious environment are more relevant today than ever before.

    For the loveof learning

MacKillop College Werribee opened the school year with Mass on Wednesday 11 February celebrated by Bishop Most Rev Vincent Long Van Nguyen OFM Conv STL DD VG and concelebrated with Canonical Administrators Rev Fr Frank Buhagiar and Rev Fr Pius Kodakkathanath, Rev Fr Benneth Osuagwu, Rev Fr Shymon Thekkekalathunga.

The Opening Mass at MacKillop College was a sacred opportunity for us to gather as a community to celebrate the Eucharist. At this time, we entrusted our year to Gods providence and care, and prayed for the deepening of our relationship with Christ in all that we do. The Opening School Mass is always inspirational in its focus marking the spiritual beginning of the school year. Our theme linked with that of St Andrews Parish, Jesus the Good Shepherd.

Our faith in life was evident as the College community gathered in the Tenison Woods Centre where a sense of unity was demonstrated by the number of people that gathered in reverence. Principal, Mr Rory Kennedy exclaimed

that, In 2015 let us look after those less fortunate than ourselves, let us be a support to our fellow travellers as we go through our academic year. In 1873 Mary MacKillop said, No duty is too little to not be done well. Mr Kennedy continues, Give it your best, give yourself the opportunity to realize your potential, you have set your goals, strive to achieve them.we follow in Mary MacKillops footsteps.

Our College vision is grounded in Gospel values and the tradition of St Mary of the Cross. At MacKillop we strive to encourage individuals to reach their full potential as life-long learners by providing an innovative, challenging and collaborative learning and teaching environment in a rapidly evolving society - Mr Rory Kennedy.

Our College has outstanding facilities that are complimented by beautifully maintained gardens, sporting fields and recreational areas. Our emphasis on contemporary learning strategies is supported by up-to-date and extensive digital infrastructure. This includes a comprehensive wireless/hard wire network in all classrooms throughout the College as well as a dedicated ICCT centre which provides students and staff with specialised video and podcasting studios as well as green-screen animation workspace.

MacKillop boasts innovative and technologically rich state-of-the-art learning areas including an exemplary Science wing, a 400 seat Auditorium within the Performing Arts Complex, an outstanding Sports Centre with

gymnasium and an excellent Creative Arts Centre. MacKillop College offers a broad and comprehensive curriculum, including a Gifted and Talented program and support to students who experience learning difficulties. We have established successful policies that support student wellbeing. Our unique and dedicated Year 9 Campus provides programs which foster close links with the local community. We offer a diversity of pathways for our students through our offering of VCE, VCAL & VET subjects.

Visioning work at the College is ongoing as we develop our contemporary and flexible learning environment. Construction has commenced for the building of our College Chapel to nurture our education in faith, and additional learning spaces to expand and complement our existing facilities are in the development phase. MacKillop is always engaged in the review and

evaluation of our educational programs, particularly in light of the implementation of the Australian Curriculum. The pathways available to our senior students continues to diversify with MacKillop including the SEDA Sport Development Partnership Program and a dedicated Trade Training Centre the Temuka Centre, which was officially blessed by Bishop Most Rev Vincent Long Van Nguyen OFM Conv STL DD VG on Tuesday 24 February. Our College continues to be a vibrant, faith-filled learning community as we prepare our students with the skills they need for citizenship and a life of meaning in the twenty first century.

Enjoy the village lifePut your worries to rest and enjoy the next stage of your retirement.

Federation Village Werribee, regarded by many as the best in the west, is a retirement lifestyle complex which offers a wide range of activities.

Since opening in 2003 the village has maintained a reputation as being the retirement home of choice when people decide to downsize.

It has evolved into a beautifully presented village with 179 units, manicured gardens and common areas surrounding the stately federation-style community centre, creating a resort-style ambience.

Marketing and sales manager Graeme Robinson said the village offered solutions to many common issues retirees faced while living in their present properties.

Personal safety and security, loneliness and isolation, property upkeep costs are all eliminated when people join our community, he said.

In fact, several over-55s in the village are still happily working while continuing to enjoy the benets of village life.

Managers and relief managers live on site and are available to offer assistance 24 hours a day.

Residents can enjoy the many activities available, including the luxury air-conditioned cinema, card room and library, craft room, pool tables, gymnasium, bowling green and a beautiful swimming pool.

The large community clubhouse hosts weekly functions where residents, their families and friends can dance the night away to a musical act.

There are no council rates, no stamp duty, no entry fees and no water rates when buying into Federation Village Werribee.

Huge savings can also be made on electricity thanks to solar panels on each unit, and theres free caravan, boat and trailer parking on site.

Theres no need to bring the lawn mower, either because gardening staff will take care of the yard for you.

All units are well furnished and include air-conditioning, heating, ceiling insulation, quality oor coverings and an abundance of storage.

Rental assistance is available for concession and veteran affairs card holders.
