Fake Wyndham tip vouchers are being sold online, sparking warnings of a council crackdown and hey penalties for those caught.

Wyndham council last week revealed an inux of photocopied tokens had been put up for sale on social media and community websites.

A Star Weekly search of online classieds website Gumtree revealed at least two advertisements selling vouchers for the Wests Road tip, including one selling two vouchers

Fake tip tokens sell onlinefor $75 and another selling two for $70. While it was unclear whether these vouchers were genuine or fakes, one advertisement stated genuine [tip] tickets not needed now.

e council issues two waste management vouchers each year on rates notices, entitling ratepayers to recycle and dispose of waste at a refuse disposal centre at no charge. Tip fees range from $25.50 for cars and station wagons with rubbish to $160 for large trucks.

Councils environment and sustainability portfolio holder, Peter Gibbons, said fabricating tip tokens wasnt worth the risk.

Wyndham [council] issues residents with two tokens each year, so there is no excuse to use the counterfeits, Cr Gibbons said.

I urge all residents to avoid acquiring tip tokens from anywhere [except council].

Photocopied tokens and those that are sometimes found for sale on the internet are not legitimate and using them can land you with infringements and nes.

Councils chief executive Kerry ompson warned of a zero tolerance policy for anybody found selling or trying to use the false vouchers.

e [tip operator] has intercepted up to a

dozen fake tip vouchers in the last 12 months and council has known of some genuine tip vouchers being traded online, she said.

Council can detect fake tip vouchers as there is an invisible watermark placed on the tokens, which is only visible under UV light.

Ms ompson said the council also oered alternatives to dumping waste in landlls, including hard and green waste collections, the Detox Your Home program to safely dispose of chemicals, and Techcollect, which recycles e-waste such as televisions and computers.

Work has begun on the new Ravenhall prison, which will hold more than 1000 oenders when it opens in 2017.

e prisons price tag will be in the order of $2.5 billion over 25 years including running costs of $1.6 billion and will be built on government-owned land near the Metropolitan Remand Centre and Dame Phyllis Frost Centre.

Corrections Minister Wade Noonan said the prison would create 700 construction jobs and 600 ongoing jobs, and have capacity to expand to hold 1300 inmates.

Given the forecast surge in prisoner numbers, we will need this prison, Mr Noonan said. An extra 1200 oenders have entered the prison system in just the past two years.

Victorias recidivism rate is 39.5 per cent and likely to go higher.

e government also announced the prisons operators, GEO Consortium, will receive as much as $2 million a year if it reduces recidivism at the prison by 12 per cent compared to that of the states overall prison system.

e private operators could be paid millions of dollars in bonuses if they reduce the reoending rate of their inmates.

e contract includes a target of a 14 per cent reduction in recidivism among indigenous prisoners, which has increased 73 per cent in the past four years in Victoria alone.

It is painful to watch Altona Meadows boy Nathan Visser struggling to breathe through a hole in his neck.

Nathan the lionheart Visser, a 12-year-old student at Warringa Park School at Hoppers Crossing, is one of about 60 people in Australia with Charge syndrome.

Getting to school has become an ordeal as Nathan grows, with his mother, Maureen, turning to crowdfunding to raise $30,000 towards the cost of a wheelchair conversion and car.

Nathan, who was not expected to survive more than a few days aer birth, has severe heart and lung problems. He cant go anywhere without his oxygen tank, is fed through a peg in his stomach and has a host of other medical problems.

He has only half a heart but its a big one, Ms Visser says.

A sole parent since her husband suddenly died when Nathan was 13 months old, Ms Visser said her sons care became even more demanding aer a recent throat scope procedure wrecked his airways.

Now he has a tracheotomy, which is 24/7 care, so you cant leave him out of your sight for one second because you have to suction him all the time, she said. You have to watch that he doesnt pull it out because if he pulls it out hell die because hes got nowhere to breathe.

Halfway through our interview, Ms Visser has to stop to suction uid from her little boys neck.

e total cost of the wheelchair conversion and car under government legislation a conversion has to be done on a new car is $71,000.

the cause to raise the nal $30,000. Its 5:6 campaign, calls for 6000 people to donate $5.

Hes getting bigger now and my car is not able to carry his wheelchair, Ms Visser said.

Im liing him in and out of the car at the moment. Ive got a pram that I use in the car as I cant put the wheelchair in, but hes now outgrowing that so we have to get a wheelchair.

And Im not getting a full conversion. If Id done a full conversion it would have

been nearly $60,000. And the government only gives us $10,000.

It makes it hard; everything is so far out of reach.

Police are hunting a cross-dressing robber who threatened to blow up a fast- food restaurant at Laverton North.

A man wearing sh-net stockings, high heels, a mini-skirt and blonde wig demanded cash from counter sta at the McDonalds on Fitzgerald Road about 7.45am on February 8.

Investigators have been told the man demanded cash while holding a paper cup, which he claimed contained a detonator for an explosive device.

e man ed the store with some cash before taking o his wig outside. A search of the area revealed no sign of a bomb.

Detectives have released CCTV footage and are calling for witnesses.

Detective Senior Constable Lloyd Felber said it was a disturbing incident.

When theres talk of an explosive device it does make people even more uneasy, he said.

In this case, we have no evidence to show that there was an explosive device at the scene, but obviously were going to be investigating that thoroughly.

e man is described as Caucasian, about 183cm tall, of thin build, with a chiselled jaw and heavy facial stubble. He was wearing black high-heeled shoes, black sh-net stockings, a pink shawl and blonde wig, and was carrying a large brown bag at the time of the incident.

A drug and rehabilitation service that opened in Hoppers Crossing last week aims to help people tackle the problems associated with addiction and get their lives back on track.

e 12-bed Destiny Transformations Centre will provide a holistic approach with therapy and case management to include biological and spiritual needs.

ose behind the centre believe its approach is part of the solution to a chronic shortage of drug and alcohol rehabilitation beds across Victoria.

Established through a partnership between Destiny Centre Christian Church and a Queensland rehabilitation organisation, the centre will also assist people going through problems such as marriage breakdowns.

Transformations executive director Michael Barrett said the centre would oer a nationally recognised drug and alcohol treatment program that has been running in Queensland since 1999.

Each year we have the privilege of seeing many people experiencing diculty in overcoming their addictions. ey come in with a past and leave with a future, he said.

Centre director Dean Landy said the aim was to give hope to those who feel hopeless.

When you have a substance addiction, whether its drugs or alcohol, your life oen falls apart and you eventually hit rock bottom, he said.

Besides dealing with their addiction, our program is about enabling people to rebuild their lives, whether its through nancial assistance, anger management or dealing with their emotions.

Its a 12-month program designed for people who have gone through detox and are

Aer they graduate, we also help with re-establishing their relationships, the transition to employment and things such as

helping them with their drivers licence or to gain qualications. is program has been running elsewhere for 15 years and its achieved a 75 per cent success rate of people turning around their lives.

Abuse proves costlyHurling abuse at a passing police car proved costly for two men in Werribee on Thursday night. Detectives from Wyndham crime investigation unit were driving along Derrimut Road about 9.50pm when a car drove past with its passenger hanging out the front window shouting abuse. Police intercepted the car and a 20-year-old Noble Park man recorded a blood-alcohol reading of 0.120. He will be charged on summons with drink-driving, unlicensed driving and using an unsafe vehicle. The passenger was arrested for being drunk in a public place and will be ned $738 and a further $148 for having body parts protruding from a vehicle.

Hundred up for re brigadeWerribee Fire Brigade opens its doors on February 28 as part of the brigades 100th anniversary celebration. The open day will include the presentation of an Australian ag in memory of two brigade members who were killed in World War 1. The open day will be from 1-8pm at the corner of Anderson and Gibbons streets, Werribee.

Harness up to thisAustralias largest heavy-horse show returns to Werribee Park this weekend. The National Clydesdale and Heavy Horse Festival will feature traditional harness and ridden classes, working draft horses and heavy horse dressage. Trade stalls, demonstrations and refreshments are on the program for Saturday and Sunday, 9am-4pm, at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre. Adults $15, under-16s free.

Local real estate identity Rob Westwood started a social media meltdown when he suggested on Facebook that the way to x the parking problems in Werribees CBD was to introduce parking meters.

A robust debate ensued with many suggestions and ideas. e mayor went on radio talking about congestion and the lack of buses, but I believe the councils parking strategy is still a couple of months o being released.

e problem is not conned just to the CBD; its also at our train stations. I visited Masters in Williams Landing the other day and struggled to get a car park. It was packed, as were all the surrounding streets.

When I walked into the store there might have been a dozen people inside. e carpark is obviously being used by commuters at Williams Landing station. Its the same story at Hoppers, Werribee and Laverton.

e CBD needs a multi-level carpark, either in Barnes Place or at the back of Ballan House, something that has been talked about for more than a decade but has never materialised.

e proposed carpark in Cherry Street wont make a big impact if as I hear it will be mostly used for council sta parking. Like many others, I ration my visits to the CBD on a strictly have to basis.

ere are some very good shops and eateries there, but they dont get my business because of the parking.

e cultural centre has nowhere near enough parking for the events it runs. Many expect the opening of the regional rail link to make a signicant impact at local train stations. We shall see.

e parking situation is like the roads. We are playing catch-up and its leading to more and more frustration for everyone. is is also increasing the aggression behind the wheel, and thats an even bigger social problem.

I dont have the denitive answer, but what I do know is that we dont need a report that tells us we have a problem.

We need a report that oers options and a plan of action.

    Your thoughts are welcome.

One of the oldest soccer clubs in the west is angered aer Hobsons Bay council refused it permission to hold a ve-minute reworks display for its 50th anniversary celebration.

Altona City Soccer Club president Joe Tanti said the club wanted to throw a community party on March 21, with reworks at 9pm aer a twilight game with Hoppers Crossing.

He said a highly regarded reworks company had been hired and had planned to do a letterbox drop notifying surrounding residents of the party at Kim Reserve.

e council has refused the permit to have reworks because they say they dont allow reworks on a reserve, Tanti said.

is is a club that has served the Altona community for 50 years, a place where kids have the chance to meet new friends and be part of Altona. is is a club that was started by one of the biggest names in Altona, Lou Nordenne, a man who turned Altona into what it is today and the council has refused it.

Tanti said a council ocer who refused the permit had told him to blow up a jumping castle.

It made me sick to the stomach, Tanti said.Hobsons Bay mayor Colleen Gates said

the council wished the club a happy 50th anniversary but could not make an exception to allow reworks on council land.

For health and safety reasons, reworks arent permitted on council land, she said.

    is is something council applies

consistently to all groups, all clubs and all organisations that lease or use council sites, including our reserves.

We did try to explore ways to make this work.

But with this being a private event and with the proposed ring site in such close proximity to both residents and wildlife, in the end weve decided it wouldnt be appropriate, Cr Gates said.

Late last year, Bunnings Warehouse, which is located near the soccer club, put on reworks for the opening of its relocated Altona store.

Cr Gates said reworks on private land were permitted on occasions, provided a permit was obtained from the Victorian WorkCover Authority and the display was carried out by licensed pyrotechnicians.

Point Cook businesses are abandoning Wallace Avenue in frustration over trac mayhem on both sides of the Princes Freeway due to a shortage of commuter car parking at Williams Landing railway station.

Desperate commuters have resorted to parking on both sides of Wallace Avenue, which is on the opposite side of the freeway to the station parking in spaces reserved for businesses and on vacant land adjoining the Palmers Road overpass at the base of the footbridge.

Direct Vet Services Karen Davies said with car parking outside businesses on Wallace Avenue regularly being occupied by all-day commuters, she knew of one business that had opted to relocate.

From as soon as the station opened [in April, 2013], the impact on businesses around here has been horrendous, Dr Davies said.

ese businesses own the parking spaces outside their premises and theyre being occupied by train commuters, meaning clients are unable to access them.

Cars are parking on both sides of Wallace Avenue in two-hour and no parking spaces because of this, trucks which need to access businesses either cant get through or risk damaging other vehicles.

e commuters parking on the grass verge near the overpass have taken it upon themselves to park in a safe and responsible manner, but it again shows the lack of planning and foresight from those involved in planning the station.

Dr Davies said businesses had even explored the possibility of installing boom gates or employing parking ocers.

We can arrange for wheel clamps, but any steps we take would be at our own expense, she

connecting bus routes and a secure Parkiteer bicycle cage for cyclists.

As part of opening Williams Landing station, bus services were more than tripled in the Point Cook area, from 697 to 2120 weekly services, and public transport was extended to Point Cook South and Saltwater Coast for the rst time.

e number of train customers travelling

said. Public Transport Victoria spokeswoman Andrea Duckworth said Williams Landing station had one of the largest carparks in the metropolitan rail network, with parking for about 500 cars.

We believe that the best way to alleviate parking congestion is to oer a range of ways to get to the station, she said. In addition to the 500 carparks, there is a drop-o zone, ve

to the station by bus is three times higher than bus access across the rest of the train network, demonstrating that many people are using the new bus services rather than driving to the station.

Ms Duckworth said PTV ocers were only able to issue infringement notices to vehicles illegally parked at train station carparks.

Since being elected as your Mayor, Ive been keen to promote the wide range of ways that residents can have input into Councils decisions. Some of these ways include our very popular Listening Posts where we reach out to the community in fun ways and in areas that you visit for your normal day-to-expanding and available on our website. We can never stop learning from the ideas that residents have on all of our policies and projects. Whether these are smaller projects such as upgrades to local parks or larger projects such as imagining what Wyndham will look like in 2040 as I talked about last week, we are always keen to hear from you. I also want to remind you of the other way residents regularly have their say. Not everyone in our community know that you can have direct contact with your elected Councillors. Based Councillors are grouped into Wards and can contact your Councillors via email or mobile telephone via contact details provided on our website.Regards, Peter.

While the locations may not be obvious at rst, Wyndham has played a starring role in one of this years most anticipated television events.

Last year, television crews and actors took to Point Cook Homestead and the Werribee International Shooting Complex to lm the eight-part series Gallipoli, which screens on Channel 9 on Monday nights.

e homesteads front room was used to portray a conservatory of General Ian Hamiltons house in England, while the surrounding coastal park was transformed into Suvla Bay and Imbros Island, where journalists were sent to keep them safe during hostilities.

A replica ship deck was also built and trench scenes were lmed on a specially constructed set at the Werribee shooting complex.

Location manager Nicci Dillon said both sites were selected following an extensive search for landscapes similar to those experienced by the troops at Gallipoli.

For Suvla Bay, we needed a at area with scrubby grasslands with the beach in the background and thats what the homestead gave us, she said.

We set up a mini-headquarters for the British with tents and small buildings in the sand and the stables were used for scenes with the gypsy fortune-tellers, who the Australian troops visited in Cairo before going to the front.

Ms Dillon said an elaborate trench system was built on the shooting complex rie range near Wyndham Vale.

We spent ve weeks lming there and the construction process took about eight weeks, she said.

e trenches were nearly two metres deep with reinforced concrete walls and were the

To be involved in telling such an iconic story was an honour and we came away with a dierent perspective and greater understanding of what happened during the war.

Gallipoli star Andy McPhee, who plays Australian Major General John Antill, said working on the project was a privilege.

e father of lead actor Kodi Smit-McPhee,

who plays 17-year-old omas Tolly Johnson, Mr McPhee said there was an even deeper family connection to the battle besides acting alongside his son.

My grandfather was at Gallipoli, he said. Its not oen you get the chance to play a role in helping to tell a major part of Australias history, and both Kodi and I were really proud.

e Kangaroos will visit schools, football clubs and community groups and hold a footy clinic at Chirnside Park, Werribee.

e visit builds on Wyndhams strong relationship with North Melbourne, which includes its alignment with Werribee in the VFL and e Huddle program, awarded a council grant last year to deliver school and multicultural activities.

Set up in 2010, e Huddle programs engage young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds in North Melbourne, Flemington, Kensington, West Melbourne and Wyndham.

Forget hot dogs and party pies soon lunch orders at Werribees Wyndham Park Primary School will be packed with vegies that children and parents have grown themselves.

anks to a $5000 grant from Wyndham councils Healthy Together Wyndham program, school families and sta are working together to encourage healthy eating choices at home and school.

Wyndham councils youth portfolio holder, Cr Marie Brittan, says the Kookaburra Kitchen Garden project will support children and their parents to make changes for better lifelong health.

Getting the children involved in growing the vegetables used to prepare school lunch orders is a great idea, she said. When children take part in growing and preparing healthy meals, they are more likely to eat them. With more than half the adults in Wyndham overweight or obese, its a change we need to encourage.

With support from local social enterprise Shoestring Gardening, the Kookaburra Kitchen Garden will grow vegetables for the schools canteen to use for its lunch orders.

Wyndham Park Primary teacher Jacek Tomaszewski says the school is embracing the project.

We have 12 garden beds at the moment, but we want to increase that to 15 vegie patches as well as planting some fruit trees, he said.

Were getting parents involved through healthy-meal-preparation workshops, oering opportunities to volunteer by expanding the lunchtime garden club, having workshops with Edible Gardens and Werribee Heritage Orchard, and a harvest festival at the end of term, Mr Tomaszewski said. We also want to connect with the large local Karen community,

who have a rich heritage of plant knowledge they can share with the wider school community. e backbone of the program will be gardening lessons with Shoestring Gardening, starting with the preps to grade twos.

Growing vegies and healthy eating will also be included in the school curriculum, with a dierent year level responsible for looking aer the garden each term. We want to inspire Wyndham Park Primary families to start growing their own vegies and herbs at

home, so the health benets ow into the wider community, Mr Tomaszewski said.

Kookaburra Kitchen Garden is more than just growing vegies at school. We hope it will prompt healthy, sustainable changes in our local community.

Whats your connection to the local community?Im co-ordinator of the dog-walking program run by Wyndham council. I work in the council oce on Mondays as part of that role and walk a dog three times a week. e program is for aged and disabled people with dogs, who are unable to walk them. I organise volunteers to walk clients dogs, which involves assessing whether the client is eligible for the service, ensuring the dog is not dangerous and matching a volunteer to the dog owner and dog. Wyndham is the only council in Victoria to have a dog-walking program. Im also involved in planning walks around Wyndham for Seniors Week in September. is year, the walks will be held in Wyndham Vale.

What do you remember being in Wyndham thats no longer there? When we came to Wyndham there used to be cows at the bottom of our road. It was a small village/country town and a place people came to visit for a day trip, picnic or holiday.

What do you like about your neighbourhood? Its a great place to live. eres plenty of parks, walking and cycling tracks and its great to see the new swimming pool coming along. My wife and I like to cycle and walk along Federation Trail, along the creek in Wyndham Vale and the river track to Werribee Mansion.

What would you change in your neighbour- hood? Our roads and trac islands need to be improved.

MY WYNDHAMA Wyndham resident of four decades, Peter Sharp arrived in town as a 10-pound Pom and has no plans of leaving. If he did, he would be sorely missed, as Rebecca Miller discovered.

Ballan Road, in particular, needs to be widened and given better drainage.

We need more integration of dierent nationalities so new Australians dont feel segregated.

The idea of stepping out of a stylish apartment on to your own boat is a lifestyle dream that most people think is way beyond their budget. Wyndham Harbours Lighthouse apartments may change this impression.

Wyndham Harbour is on the western shore of Port Phillip Bay, shaded by Norfolk pines and palm trees, and comprises luxurious apartments, land lots and a wet-and- dry-berth marina.

The development is being built in stages. The rst stage of the marina is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2015-16.

Several houses are being built.Joes Corner Cafe, now open, is a focal

point for the community, and Marina Square now hosts regular public events.

Lighthouse is the second apartment complex to be built and is designed to look more like a resort hotel than a workaday apartment building. The rst complex, Marina Quays, is all but sold out and residents have moved in.

Prestigious rm SJB Architects designed Lighthouse. The bold, angled facade maximises views across the bay, to the marina and the beaches that will be created for the development.

The sense of luxury and atmosphere of a resort will be evident as soon as you enter the buildings hotel-like foyer.

At their heart, the Lighthouse apartments will have a landscaped communal area, designed over two terraces with a barbecue area and timber deck furnished with day-beds and public art. The Lighthouse will comprise 137 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. A coastal palette, with driftwood tones and textured surfaces, reinforces a relaxed and stylish coastal lifestyle.

Apartment buyers have a choice of light or dark colour schemes. Kitchens are stylish and very contemporary. One-bedroom apartments have linear, galley-style kitchens, while those in the two-bedroom apartments have an island bench of stone tops on a dark metal frame which function as storage on the kitchen side. On the dining area side, stools tuck away beneath the bench and it becomes a casual eating or working area.

A striking feature of some of the kitchens is a textured wall with a V-groove prole to match the tiled splashbacks. Neff appliances, or equivalent, are standard with an upgrade to Gaggenau if desired.

Pale tones with dark highlights to the borders create stylish, contemporary bathrooms, and an interesting hand basin design offers shelving and enclosed storage. Conveniently concealed laundries have space for the broom and vacuum cleaner.

Lighthouse apartments start at $355,000 for a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment with underground carpark. Some two-bedroom apartments have two parking spaces. Storage cages are available as an upgrade.

Wyndham Harbour offers a great, outdoor lifestyle. Tennis courts, bicycle paths and walking tracks will be part of future stages. Sailing and shing, services and amenities are at your doorstep. The Melbourne CBD is 30 minutes away by car, Geelong 40 minutes, and buses connect Werribee South with Werribee railway station.

A public meeting of property owners and the community has given the green light to the state governments Urban Renewal Authority for a study into redeveloping an area bounded by Watton, Wedge, McDonald, Anderson and Bridge streets, as part of a plan to expand Werribees central shopping district. e Authoritys chairman, Harry Parsons, told the meeting landowners could rest assured their properties would not be compulsorily acquired, while Werribee councillor Neville Hudson said any redevelopment required the approval of the council and the state government.

Werribee Hospital management is planning to make a submission to the states Health Commission calling for a major upgrade, including ward and x-ray facilities, an extension to its casualty department and remodelled operating theatres. Hospital manager John Williams said this was a last-ditch attempt to get the government to listen. e hospital is hopelessly inadequate now and the situation will become even worse as the areas population grows. Mr Williams said the lack of investment in the Synnot Street hospital had reached a critical stage it was now serving a population of 47,000.

Wyndham council announced it would need to cut 26 jobs by the end of June to make up the $1.1 million surplus agged in its recent mini-budget. e councils director of engineering services, Ian Robins, told e Banner that, as a result of the cuts, residents could expect an overall drop in their rates next year. Spending for a number of council projects, including the Derrimut Road underpass and a performing arts centre, were not included in the mini-budget, but Mr Robins said the councils commissioners were committed to these projects.

e row over the relocation of Melbournes wholesale markets has continued with a report naming Werribee as the best option described by Whittlesea mayor Sam Alessi as awed and erroneous. Cr Alessi, who is lobbying for Epping to be the new market site, said the report contained mistruths, including estimated distances from both regions to the Melbourne CBD and the cost of land gures. e markets will move from Footscray Road near the city as part of the state governments port expansion plan. Fruit and vegetable king Frank Costa is among those to back the Werribee option.

Dear Resident,Did you know the School Kids Bonus was paid to over 30,000 local students in January? Thats over 17,000 families that benefitted from this back to school payment, to assist with the costs of school uniforms, books, stationery and IT equipment.A total of $17.5 million was paid to Lalor families, the highest amount for an electorate in Australia. The impact of the Abbott Governments planned scrapping of this payment will have a huge impact locally, on families, on local schools and local businesses. Tony Abbott said recently that families will be front and centre of his governments agenda for 2015. But Tony Abbott has already launched a full scale attack on the family budget. You cant rip money away from families one day and then say you care the next. Tony Abbotts first budget will leave a single income family on $65,000 with two children about $6,000 per year worse off.I will ensure local families have a strong voice in Canberra and that cost of living pressures are understood.Kind regards

ITS A MUGS GAMEAs you may know, Im a big fan of single-serve cakes and desserts made in coffee mugs. So when this sweet little recipe from a lady called Margaret landed in my inbox, I simply had to share it. It takes just two minutes and chances are youll already have most of the ingredients on hand.

Margaret says, This recipe for a coffee cup brownie is a mug of heaven. Its so simple and delicious that you will be having this little treat after dinner every night.

COFFEE CUP BROWNIE5 tablespoons plain our 3 tablespoons brown sugar 1 tablespoons butter, softened 3 tablespoons water 1/8 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 pinch salt

Mix all ingredients into a large mug and put in microwave on high for one minute. Let it cool before eating.

PIZZA PERFECTIONHomemade pizzas are always well received, but getting the base nice and crispy in a regular oven can be a tricky business. With its dual heating elements, the Breville Crispy Crust stone-baked pizza oven reaches temperatures of 350 degrees Celsius, replicating traditional brick pizza ovens. The pizzas cook in as little as ve minutes and theres a special keep warm setting to reheat any leftover slices. Priced about $169, its a great gadget to have on hand if youre strapped for time or for ideas on what to feed the kids.

    Give

    a chance.SPINACH

Vegies are quicker and easier than you think.

Heres four easy ways to add spinach to your day:

    1. Scrambled eggs or an omelette will give you and the kids a full tummy to start the day on. Mixing in some shredded spinach will give you an extra boost.

    2. A handful of baby spinach leaves adds colour and goodness on top of any soup, curry or pasta dish. Throw them straight on or nely shred them rst.

    3. Youll be amazed how quickly a bunch of spinach disappears when you cook it into a pasta sauce. Your family will eat their greens without even realising!

    4. A frozen box of spinach kept in the freezer is a great base for a last minute curry when the fridge is bare. Cook up the spinach, some tinned tomatoes, tinned chick peas and a jar of your favourite curry base. Much cheaper than buying take-away.

Theres plenty of fun for families at Palm Lake Resort and lots of scope for quality time with loved ones.

Tony and Sylvia moved into Palm Lake Resort Truganina about 17 months ago.

We looked at other villages before purchasing, but nothing was as good as here, Sylvia said.

We were sold on the village. Houses are separate and on separate blocks, and the facilities are great.

Both Tony and Sylvia work part-time and enjoy activities such as bowling, swimming in the resort pool, gym workouts, aqua aerobics, line dancing and mini-golf.

They also enjoy the monthly dinner night at the bowls club and resident dinners.

Recently, Palm Lake Resort Truganina held its grandparents day.

Sylvia attended with six grandkids all had their faces painted and enjoyed movies and a magician.

The hall was lled with so much laughter and fun, she said.

The kids enjoyed the lunch put on by the

resort I really enjoyed this special time with my grandkids.

When buying into Palm Lake Resort, there are no entry fees and no stamp duty.

A low, fortnightly site fee covers all council rates, garbage disposal and standard water usage.

That means there are no rates to pay and unlimited use of all the facilities the resort has to offer.

House prices start at $319,000 and residents get to keep 100 per cent of their capital gains.

Come along to any of the free information sessions on Tuesday, March 3, at 10am, 2pm or 5.30pm and learn how easy it is to make the transition to your brand new lifestyle.

Palm Lake Resort, 7 Taronga Road, Truganina, is open seven days a week. Resort tours can be arranged by appointment. Inquiries:1800 686 096 or visit www.palmlakeresort.com.au.
