    Untitled story by Jessie Caceres

I stared at the swirled figure in my hand. My handsgripped over it as my fingers slid across its smoothedges, feeling every bump and curve. I gazed at the

dragon shaped necklace, suddenly feeling sharp in mypalm. Its wings spread apart as if ready to take off. Its

body in an upward position, like a cobra ready to attack.

My fingers came across the scales at the top of its head, then its razor sharp teeth that seemed to be made for

hunting. My fingertips continued to follow its shape as I put

the necklace around my neck and tied the string. I

looked at myself in the mirror, never once glancing atmy own appearance, only gazing at the creature thathung from my neck in admiration. A sudden vibrationerupted I my from my jacket pocket, taking me out of

my deep trance. I looked at my phone and quicklyrealized it was a text message. My heart somersaulted in

my chest as I prepared myself to read the message.

wrote in my reply. Alright mom, Ill save yousome pizza. I snapped my phone shut andplopped myself on my bed, staring at the ceiling.

I thought it was him. The him that sent me tothe stars ad back with the 3 most beautiful

words. The him that had a smile that could brighten

up any room, no matter what the mood. Thehim that was sweet and kind. The him that

begged to know of every thought that ranthrough my mind each day. That him. The himthat went by the name of Jacob.
