Introduction: This workshop is organised by EFSA in cooperation with DG SANTE, and funded by the European Commission (EC) under the EFSA Pre-Accession Programme 2015-2017 (Programme). The overall objective of the Programme is to promote the understanding of EFSA’s work, share expertise and create information exchange mechanisms.
Aim of the workshop: The aim of the workshop is to increase the awareness on the epidemiological situation of LSD and to improve cooperation at regional level for LSD surveillance, prevention and control by:
- establishing synergies; - identifying specific needs and possible instruments to satisfy them; - sharing of best practices; - preparing a list of shared recommendations valid for LSD and other transboundary
diseases. Invited:
- Representatives from European and other Mediterranean countries where LSD is of particular concern: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Kosovo*, Lebanon, Montenegro, Serbia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey
- Representatives from EFSA, EC (DG SANTE), OIE Reference Laboratory on capripoxviruses, REMESA secretariat, CODA -CERVA
