7.1 – Standards for Wellhead Seals Inferior to Couplings
Deficiencies:• Seals qualified from a single sample, ignoring manufacturing tolerances• Limited test cycles are not representative of field conditions• Make or break tests are required to prove serviceability• Not testing to destruction, obscures the point of failure• Wellhead seal are subject to loading.
