Member Sponsorship

It is that time of year again! ERSC is accepting applications for new mem-bers at this time. If you have a rela-tive, friend or colleague who might be interested in membership, now is the time to get that paperwork in!

If you don’t personally know a likely candidate, please come to the Novem-ber or December membership meet-ings. There will be lots of folks seeking sponsors there, and who knows, you may find a new shooting buddy!

Construction almost Complete

Construction of the new storage building is almost complete. The final outside finishes should be complete before winter arrives, the rest to follow shortly thereafter.

Club Elections

Reloading Classes

Ever wanted to get into cartridge reloading but never knew how to start? Ever want to learn the finer parts of reloading for accuracy?

This March, ERSC will be hosting two reloading classes. An entry level reloading class for beginners (March 2), followed by an advanced reloading class (March 16).

The first class will focus on the basics of safely reloading rifle and pistol am-munition. The second (advanced) class will focus on the finer points of reload-ing focusing on rifle accuracy. Both classes will be hands on, and a lot of fun. Come on out!

Look for more information in the De-cember/January newsletter, or contact Jon Clauson ([email protected]) for more details.

Wooo Hooo! It’s hunting time! I wish everyone a safe and successful hunting season. I am off to Montana shortly, look for pictures of my record book mule deer and elk on the national news. Yes, I am that confident!

There has been great progress made on the storage building in the last month. Walls were erected and sheathed, trusses were installed and roof sheathing was completed. The building was inspected by the city for proper construc-tion and passed with flying colors. The roof and siding materials are on site and should be completely installed by the middle of November. There are too many names to list here, but I would like to thank all of those that have helped with this huge project.

Nominations for club offices are now officially closed. Come to the December election meeting to see who wins election or re-election. Thanks to all the candidates for stepping forward to run for office.

I am sure Cathy will have a reminder about renewals elsewhere in this newsletter but here is a friendly reminder. Cathy is a volunteer. Please be patient waiting for your new membership card. Remember to have all your required informa-tion included with the renewal and also include a self-addressed stamped envelope for a quick return. You are respon-sible for yourself. The Board of Directors authorized increasing the membership roster by an additional 50 members for 2013. If you know of someone who would like to join the club, please have them fill out a new member application. These opportunities don’t happen very often.

Have a safe and successful November!Scott Olson, President

President’s Report

For me, renewals and new member applications will be my main focus the next few months. Already the renewals are pouring in. My mailman must wonder what I am involved in with all these letters I suddenly started to get.

As of the 20th of October I still haven’t gotten the 2013 membership cards, so there will be a slight delay in processing the early bird renewals. I know that the cards are on the way, so please hang in there and give me a chance to dig out once they arrive. All I know is the pile is getting bigger each day I get mail.

For those members that joined in 2010, 2011 and 2012 remember you need to send proof of current NRA membership with your renewal. Proof of current NRA membership is your NRA membership card with the expiration date showing. Cards that just say Annual Member will not be accepted. If your card shows you are a Life Member, Patron, Benefac-tor etc, those are fine. Another proof of NRA membership is the mailing label from your NRA magazine. Just cut out or copy the mailing label and send that in with your renewal. Renewals missing the NRA membership proof will be de-layed until I get the copy and proof regarding your NRA membership.

Recently I sent out emails to members that were missing items from their applications when they joined the club in the last three years. I will need to have the copies requested in order to process your renewal. I still need the copy of your Permit to Carry or Permit to Purchase, even if it is now expired to attach to your membership application.

Because of having to track down missing items for new members, if you are sponsoring a new member for 2013 be sure that they send in ALL the listed requirements shown on the form. Anything missing means their chances of becom-ing a new member are very, very slim. Please go over the paperwork with the person you are sponsoring to be sure they have all their ducks in a row. It saves me time and effort and saves you from having to tell a family member, friend or co-worker they couldn’t join due to not following simple directions.

Hunting seasons are in full swing. Good luck to everyone in the field whether it is with a gun or bow.
