QUICK FACTS AGAINST NORTHEASTERNAll-time vs. Northeastern, Dartmouth is just 8-26-3. Under Hudak, the Big Green are 1-0-0 against the Huskies as the two met last season in Hanover with the home team taking the 4-3 overtime win. Sally Komarek scored the winner just 51 seconds into the extra session with Lisa Berreman and Camille Dumais picking up the helpers. Katie Milligan earned her first career win in the game, stopping 29 shots, including two very early in the OT period.

POWERLESS PLAYAgainst the Crimson, Dartmouth was thwarted 10 times with the man-advantage. The 0-for-10 performance dropped the Green’s power play to 14.9% (7-47) overall this season, but did come at the hands of the second-best penalty killing unit in the country (Harvard is 32-34 / 94.1%).

BROKEN RECORDIt seems like lately every game has seen a Dartmouth player reach the century mark for games played. Friday against Harvard was no different as Sasha Nanji’s total hit triple digits. Barring a shakeup in the lineup, forward Jessica Gagner will reach the milestone Wednesday at Matthews, while Komarek will get there Saturday afternoon at Maine.

ODDITYDespite the score, the Big Green were only outshot, 27-26, by the Crimson Friday night. Three times this season Dartmouth has been outshot by

the opposition and is 0-2-1 in those outings. However, the team is 4-0-1 when attempting more shots than its opponents.

ON THE ROAD… AGAINThe Big Green are in the midst of their eight-game road trip with their second straight away from Thompson Arena coming Wednesday night in Boston. The entire road swing from start to finish will stretch the course of 42 days through a Jan. 9 contest in Burlington at Vermont.

UP NEXTFollowing the midweek meeting with Northeastern, Dartmouth will head north, but not to Hanover, rather playing its final two games before the winter break in Orono, Maine, this weekend. Saturday and Sunday will see the Big Green square off with the Black Bears at Alfond Arena as both games are slated for 3 p.m. starts.

REGULATION? NO THANKSBefore the Friday night in Cambridge, Dartmouth’s last three games (0-1-2) have all needed overtime. So far in the entire month of November (6 games), the Big Green have played four overtime contests (1-1-2), including a 5-4 win at Yale on Nov. 2. In the two contests that did not need the extra period, Dartmouth was 2-0, defeating Brown, 1-0, on Nov. 3 and New Hampshire, 3-2, on Nov. 6.

ONE-GOAL GAMESIn November, the Big Green took to the ice against seven opponents. In all but one of those games, the teams

either played to a draw or the score was separated by just one goal. The team edged out three straight one-goal games to start off November before ties with No. 5 Boston College and Colgate sandwiched a 2-1 overtime loss to No. 2 Cornell.

DUAL PASSERSAgainst Colgate, both Big Green goals had a similar look on the scoresheet. It wasn’t the player that finished the play that was alike on each, but rather the two members of the team that set up the goals. On each, senior defenseman Margaux Sharp and freshman forward Laura Stacey were credited with helpers. Sharp had the primary assist on both tallies, while Stacey earned her team-leading sixth and seventh assists of the year against the Raiders.

BIG GREEN|GAME NOTES (cont.)

KNACK OF ITThis season, senior captain Reagan Fischer has a knack of finding the back of the net when her team needs it the most. In both of the team’s ties, it was a Fischer goal that forced the draw. Against BC, it was a wrist shot from the circle in the final minutes to send the game to overtime, while most recently, the Irma, Alberta, native tied the game 11:47 into the second period against Colgate that eventually helped Dartmouth earn the hard-fought point in the league standings.

LOTS OF ‘ONES’ IN THIS ONEIt took until the seventh game of the season, but senior Sally Komarek finally got on the scoreboard with her first goal of the season against Colgate. Finishing off a play from Sharp and Stacey, Komarek tied the game at 1-1 with just 1:11 remaining in the first period. It was her first goal since Feb. 17, 2012 when her fourth tally of the year made it 7-1 midway through the second period against Yale.

HOLDING DOWN THE FORTJunior goaltender Lindsay Holdcroft did her part last weekend as she held opponents to just two goals apiece. Playing a combined 128:38 of action against No. 2 Cornell and Colgate, the Pittsburgh native stopped 51-of-55 shots she faced, including 28 against the Big Red. Her goals-against average dropped from 2.41 to 2.23 in the two games.

trip that will stretch the course of 42 days through a Jan. 9 contest in Burlington at Vermont.

BERREMAN’S BLASTNot known as a goal-scorer, senior defenseman Lisa Berreman found the back of the net just 8:37 into the opening period against Boston College with her team on the power play. The marker was just the second for Berreman in her career. She now has four points on three assists and that power-play goal this season. In her 89-game career, Berreman has 19 points (2g/17a).

Mark Hudak enters his 10th year behind the bench for the Big Green and 15th season with the program. Last year, he guided the team to an 18-10-2 record with a 14-6-2 ECAC Hockey mark. The 2011-12 squad

advanced to the ECAC Tournament for the eighth time with Hudak at the helm, falling to St. Lawrence in the First Round.

During his tenure as the head coach, Hudak has coached two All-Americans, an Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year, an ECAC Hockey Player and Rookie of the Year, along with two first team All-ECAC Hockey selections, seven first team All-Ivy performers and an ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Year. He also has tutored four U.S. and Canadian National Team members who have combined for seven appearances at the last three Winter Olympic Games.

During the 2010-11 season, Hudak helped the Big Green bounce back from a down 2009-10 season, leading Dartmouth to a 22-12-0 record with appearances in the ECAC Tournament Championship and the NCAA Tournament. The team ended the year ranked eighth in the nation. During the season, Hudak earned his 150th career victory and his 100th ECAC Hockey victory.

Also that season, Hudak served as an assistant coach for the U.S. Women’s National Team at the 2010 Four Nations Cup and at the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation World Women’s Championship at Hallenstadion. He was ultimately named the 2010-11 New England Hockey Writers Association Coach of the Year.

In 2009, Hudak led Dartmouth to its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance and fifth of his coaching career. The Big Green also won their fourth ECAC Hockey Tournament and second under Hudak. During the 2008-09 season, he passed former head coach Judy Oberting for second all-time in career wins. Now, with 180 victories to his credit, Hudak is just 14 wins away from tying George Crowe as the all-time winningest coach in program history.

During the 2007-08 season, the Big Green made the ECAC Hockey semifinals for the fourth time under Hudak. He achieved two milestones that season, posting his 100th career victory with a 6-4 win over Mercyhurst on Dec. 16 and leading Dartmouth to the program’s 500th win on Nov. 17 with a 4-1 win against Yale.

In 2006-07, Hudak led the Big Green to a record-tying 27 victories for the second time during his tenure as head coach. It was his third 20-plus win season since taking over the program in 2003. Hudak helped his team to its first ECACHL regular season championship since 2002 with a 16-1-1 regular season mark in conference play. The Big Green won the Ivy

League, ECACHL regular season and ECACHL Tournament in the same season for the first time since 2000-01.

During Hudak’s second season as Dartmouth’s head coach in 2004-05, the Big Green posted a 27-8-0 mark, garnering second-place regular-season finishes in both the ECAC Hockey League and Ivy League. Dartmouth qualified for the ECACHL Championship and then knocked off Wisconsin in the NCAA quarterfinals to reach its fourth NCAA Frozen Four. The 27 wins tied a single-season program record, and allowed Hudak to reach the 50-win plateau faster than any other coach in program history.

In 2003-04, the Big Green went 24-8-2, won the Ivy League crown and advanced to the ECACHL semifinals after holding the No. 1 ranking in the nation for three weeks during the season. Hudak also became the first ever first-year coach to lead his team to the NCAA Frozen Four. Hudak and his coaches were twice named Staff of the Month by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

Prior to his promotion to head coach in July 2003, Hudak helped direct the program to two NCAA Frozen Fours as an associate head coach and assistant. The Big Green advanced to the Frozen Four in 2001 and 2003, also claiming ECACHL championships both years. Additionally, Dartmouth won the 2001 and 2002 Ivy League championships.

Since joining the Big Green women’s hockey program in July 1998, Hudak has helped Dartmouth amass a record of 294-129-30 as an assistant coach, associate head coach and now head coach.

A 1989 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, Hudak played varsity hockey for the Black Knights and was a commissioned field artillery officer in the U.S. Army from 1989-92.

Hudak headed the boys’ hockey team at New Hampton School from 1993-96 and taught in the math and history departments. He was also an assistant men’s hockey coach at Cortland State University from 1992-93.

From 1996-98, Hudak was the hockey program director for the National Sports Academy in Lake Placid, N.Y. While there, he created, administered and developed a varsity program for girls, as well as varsity and jayvee programs for boys. As coach of the boys’ varsity, Hudak compiled a 58-17-7 record.

In addition to his college coaching experience, Hudak has served as a coach for multiple USA Hockey camps. He has helped at USA Hockey National Camps in Lake Placid in 2000 and 2005. Hudak served as a coach at the USA Girls’ Regional Junior Camps in 1998-99. In 2006, he worked at the U.S. Under-22 National Camp and has also served as a coach for the US Under-18 National Camp in Lake Placid. Hudak has directed at both the Elite Hockey Training Centers and the NSA Hockey School. He has also served as a guest lecturer for USA Hockey Coaches Clinics.
