Monday, 15 June – When You Come Into the Land (Deut. 26:1) Arrive in Israel to be met and assisted at Ben Gurion Airport by your ITC representative (today’s program depends on arrival time) Visit with our Israeli peers at Netzach Yisrael in Ashkelon. Hotel check-in and welcome dinner. Overnight: Mitzpeh Ramon

Tuesday, 16 June – Desert Dwellers. Spend this morning relaxing, swimming at our hotel and possibly enjoying optional activities (bicycling, horse- back riding, alpaca farm, etc., in Mitzpeh Ramon – not included additional cost) Mid- morning departure to gaze into the other-worldly Ramon Crater; marvel at this unique geological structure and hear the story of its formation. Please choose two of the following for the group: Visit Ben Gurion’s Hut in Sde Boker for personal insight into the life of this outstanding Zionist leader and Israel’s first prime minister. At Israel’s Air Force Museum near Beersheva, view the planes and equipment and to hear the story of this brave fighting force. Visit a center for traditional Bedouin weaving done in women’s homes in the village of Lakiya. Learn about Bedouin culture and see their traditional hand-weaving process demonstrated. Wednesday, 17 June – Freedom Fighters or Fanatics? I Rosh Hodesh Tammuz: Early departure for the Dead Sea Region, the lowest place on earth. First time Israel visitors Ascend Masada by cable car; tour this impressive excavation and discuss the terrible dilemma faced by its Jewish population during Roman times. Take a walk through the beautiful Ein Gedi Nature Reserve to the waterfall and review the biblical story of kings David and Saul “on site” Enjoy lunch at Kibbutz Ein Gedi. Stop for a dip and mud baths at the amazing Dead Sea. Repeat Israel visitors Spend today at Dead Sea resort hotel enjoying its spa facilities, lunch, and the amazing Dead Sea. Thursday, 18 June – Jerusalem of Old. II Rosh Hodesh Tammuz: Take part in a moving B’nei Mitzvah service at the “Masorti Kotel” Explore the Southern Wall Excavations and learn more about the ancient Jerusalem Temple at the Davidson Center. In the Kotel Tunnels, walk alongside the massive foundation stones of the Western Wall. Enjoy lunch (on one’s own) in the Jewish Quarter. Take part in a new family- friendly “scavenger hunt” as you learn about the history of the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem (option available for b’nai mitzvah to train in advance to lead part of this activity. Friday, 19 June – Those Who Sacrificed. Visit the newly-opened state-of-the art Holocaust Memorial Museum (age 10 and up only; 12 and up recommended), Children’s Memorial, and Valley of the Communities at Yad Vashem. Alternative for younger children: At the Jerusalem Bird Conservatory, take part in an ecology workshop and see birds ringed to be tracked by conservationists. Take a sobering walk through the history of the Jewish State at the Har Herzl Military Cemetery. Browse through colorful, bustling Machaneh Yehuda open-air market – am yisrael chai!. Enjoy a walking tour of the historic Yemine Moshe, Mishkenot Sheananim, and Ketef Hinom neighborhoods. Return to the hotel to prepare for Shabbat. Kabbalat Shabbat at the Kotel. Sunday, 21 June – Jerusalem Then and Now. Enjoy visiting with renowned Israeli artists in their studios in Jerusalem’s Hutzot Hayotzer Artist Colony. At Ammunition Hill, see a terrific new audio-video presentation about the fierce Six Day War battle for Jerusalem; enter former Jordanian bunkers. Stumble across many archeological finds as you take part in a hands-on dig through archeological matter that has been removed from under the Temple Mount. Israel Museum. Free evening in Jerusalem. Overnight: Dan Panorama Jerusalem

Monday, 22 June – The Jordan River Valley and Golan Heights. Depart Jerusalem through the Judean Desert. At P’til Tekhelet, learn about the process of dying the wool for this blue thread of the tzitzit according to traditional sources. Continue north along Israel’s border with Jordan to the Golan Heights. Please choose one for the group: Ascend the Golan Heights and gaze down over the Galilee, as the Syrians once did OR Ascend to the peak of Har Bental, where you can enter army bunkers and take in a panoramic view at the crossroads of three countries; discuss the significance of the Golan Height in today’s geo-political reality. Group may split: Enjoy a tour and tasting, at the delicious De Karina Chocolate Factory at Kibbutz Ein Zivan followed by a chocolate-making workshop OR Tour and wine cheese tasting at the kibbutz’s boutique Bahat Winery Hotel check-in followed by a free evening in Tiberias. Overnight: Leonardo Plaza Hotel, Tiberias

Tuesday, 23 June – Nature in the Galilee. At Agam Hahula (Hula Lake) ride family golf carts or bicycles around the lake and enjoy viewing some of the many species of small animals and birds that migrate through Israel each year. Visit a wonderful pioneer-founded high-tech dairy farm where you can learn about modern breeding techniques; try your hand bottle-feeding the calves and milking cows; discuss the challenge of “kosher” milking on Shabbat; taste different varieties of olive oil and fresh chocolate milk. Take a lovely nature walk among the lush forests and streams of the Banyas Nature Reserve. Tour an IDF base and then enjoy a barbeque dinner with the soldiers – a chance to rub shoulders with those who defend Israel . Overnight: Leonardo Plaza Hotel, Tiberias Wednesday, 24 June – Israel Tapestry. Tour the synagogues, courtyards, and artist colony of the mystical city of Tzefat, including some time for shopping. Travel south to port of Old Jaffa, once the gateway to the Land of Israel. At the new Jaffa Tales exhibit take in an engaging presentation about the history and legends of this ancient city. Continue to the modern Hebrew city of Tel Aviv for hotel check-in and a Mediterranean swim. Free evening in Tel Aviv. Overnight:Crowne Plaza Tel Aviv

Thursday, 25 June – Foundations of the Modern State. Sustainability Institute visit (by Coca Cola) near Ayalon Inst. (if available as alternative to Weizmann Institute) At the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot learn of the impressive accomplishments of Israel’s top science university Group may split: Walk through the superbly appointed Weizmann family mansion to enjoy its fine design and architecture OR visit the Science Garden for a fun, hands-on experience of Israel’s cutting-edge science and technology. Climb down into the amazing underground, pre-State bullet factory built by the Haganah under the noses of the British at the Ayalon Institute. At Independence Hall, relive Ben Gurion’s moving declaration of the State; discuss whether it seems that the vision of Israel’s founding fathers – articulated in the Scroll of Independence – has come to fruition. Remainder of the day free for a Mediterranean swim, packing. Farewell dinner at Lilliot, a gourmet teaching restaurant that employs youth at risk. Depart for Ben Gurion Airport
