I’m often inspired by members of my family who feature in my quilts either as portraits or asstories. My Grandma has always danced. Once day we were looking at some of her olddance shoes and she said to me “I wish I could go back to all the places I danced in thoseshoes”. I thought that was quite an evocative statement and it fixed in my mind. Iphotographed her holding the shoes and since then have made a number of pieces thatfeature them. This quilt is a hand painted whole cloth with free machine quilting.

Yn aml, rydw i'n cael fy ysbrydoli gan aelodau o fy nheulu ac rydw i'n eu cynnwys nhw yn fynghwiltiau, naill ai ffurf portreadau neu storïau. Mae fy mam-gu wedi dawnsio erioed. Un tro, roedden ni'n edrych ar rai o'i hen esgidiau dawnsio a dywedodd hi wrtha i, “Byddwn i'n hoffimynd yn ôl i'r holl lefydd roeddwn i'n dawnsio yn yr esgidiau hynny”. Roeddwn i'n meddwlbod hynny'n ddatganiad eithaf atgofus ac mae e wedi aros yn fy nghof. Tynnais i lun ohonihi'n dal yr esgidiau ac, ers hynny, rydw i wedi creu nifer o ddarnau sy'n eu cynnwys nhw.Mae'r cwilt yma yn frethyn cyfan sydd wedi'i baentio ac sy'n cynnwys cwiltio rhydd.

I often work with the same theme and subject matter over a series of pieces using differentmedia. This is a smaller and simpler piece than ‘In Those Shoes’. Here I’ve drawn the shoesdirectly to the fabric and stamped the lettering before adding stitch by machine. I love to use thesame techniques on fabric as I can in my sketchbook and this little piece was an idealopportunity for demonstrating that.

Yn aml, rydw i'n gweithio gyda'r un thema a phwnc dros gyfres o ddarnau, gan ddefnyddiocyfryngau gwahanol. Dyma ddarn sy'n llai na ‘In Those Shoes’ ac mae'n symlach. Yma, rydw iwedi arlunio'r esgidiau ar y ffabrig ac wedi stampio'r llythrennau cyn defnyddio'r peiriant iychwanegu pwythau. Rydw i wrth fy modd â defnyddio'r un dulliau ar ffabrig ag rydw i'n eudefnyddio yn fy llyfr braslunio ac roedd y darn bach yma yn gyfle perffaith i wneud hynny.

A collaborative wholecloth silk quilt inspired by the decorative style of the Arts and Craftsmovement. We chose all our favourite fruits which were free motion quilted by Laura before Ihand painted them. Just like painting by numbers!

Dyma ddarn sydd wedi'i wneud ar y cyd. Mae'n gwilt sidan cyfan a gafodd ei ysbrydoli ganddull addurnol y mudiad Celf a Chrefft. Dewison ni ein hoff ffrwythau a chawson nhw eucwiltio'n rhydd gan Laura cyn i mi fynd ati i'w paentio nhw. Mae'n debyg i baentio yn ôl rhifau!

I love sketchbooks and making handmade books. With this piece I combined those ideaswith textiles. We’d recently moved into a new house that needed lots of work so the bareplastered pages and emulsion paint are a literal reference.

Rydw i wrth fy modd â llyfrau braslunio a chreu llyfrau fy hun â llaw. Yn y darn yma, rydw iwedi cyfuno'r syniadau hynny gyda thecstilau. Roedden ni newydd symud i d newydd acroedd eisiau cyflawni llawer o waith yno, felly, mae'r tudalennau o blastr a phaent emwlsiwnyn cyfeirio at hynny.

Everyone assumes that I get my creativity from my Mom’s side of the family, but after researchingmy family history it turns out that relations on my Dad’s side were lace makers in Nottingham andCalais. Turns out they gave up on lace and went to Australia for gold hence the title of the quilt!

Mae pawb yn honni bod fy nghreadigrwydd yn dod o ochr mam ond, ar ôl hel achau, mae'ndebyg mai gwneuthurwyr les o Nottingham a Calais oedd perthnasau fy nhad. Mae'n debygroedden nhw wedi troi eu cefnau ar les a mynd i Awstralia er mwyn cloddio am aur, a dyna'rrheswm dros deitl y cwilt!

This was the first painted quilt I ever made. It was inspired by the stained glass designs of PreRaphaelite artist Edward Burne Jones, a long time favourite of mine, and features the Fifth Day ofCreation when the birds of the air came to be. It is wholecloth cotton, free motion quilted and handpainted with screen printing inks. Burne Jones didn’t include crocodiles, crabs and grasshoppers -they were my idea!

Dyma'r cwilt cyntaf roeddwn i wedi'i baentio. Cafodd ei ysbrydoli gan ffenestri lliw yr artist Cyn-Raffaëlaidd, Edward Burne Jones -sef un o fy hoff artistiaid. Mae'n cynnwys darlun o bumeddiwrnod y Creu pan gafodd yr adar eu creu. Dyma frethyn cotwm cyfan, gyda chwiltio rhydd acwedi'i baentio â llaw gan ddefnyddio inc ar gyfer printio sgrin. Doedd Burne Jones ddim wedicynnwys crocodeiliaid, na chrancod na cheiliogod rhedyn - fy syniad i oedd y rheini!
