Act one opens with the back stage image of tree branch shadows. This image remains in section E of the
set during scenes that take place inside of the cabin.
Blue ice cycle lights (B) and dotted blue lights (A) illuminate “outside” of the set. These lights are dim
when no one is outside and brightened when characters leave or arrive at the cabin.
A fiery red light remains lit on the potbelly stove during all scenes performed in the cabin
All lights are dim on stage, except for a spotlight on Jonathan during his chair smashing scene.
All lights are dim on stage, except the spotlights that follow each character as they walk on stage and sit
during Maria’s funeral
Firework lights shall began and continuously flash in different colors until ending in sections A&E of the
play’s set.
Lights fade out on Frank at the end of the play.

Artificial snow continuously falls in sections A&D
A white summer dress continuously hangs (C) throughout play. This
is mainly visible to the audience when section A is brightened
Those approaching and leaving cabin enter stage from left side,
passes A and enters cabin through stage door I
Maria and Francois first enter stage from section J of set
During opening and funeral scene of Act II, Cabin is drapery
changed from white cloth to black cloth
COSTUME DIRECTIONS
Maria and Francois sips from champagne glasses
throughout beginning of Act I. Maria gulps remaining
amounts when Engagement is announced.
Edwina grabs suitcase whenever storms out of cabin.
Bob and Steve arrive in pizza delivery uniform with pizza
box in a hot bag. They remove their caps as they enter the
cabin and speak to those inside.
All characters enter ACT II in black costumes.
The Deacon carries a Bible in his hand throughout funeral
scene.
