Refunds and TransfersAll withdrawals or transfers will be charged a non-refundable $5 transaction fee. These fees do not apply to withdrawals made on the internet. No refunds for non-attendance or materials fees. Allow 30 days to process a refund. You must complete a “Registration Withdrawal” form in order to drop a class. All refunds are subject to a $5 transaction fee, unless we cancel a class.

Table of ContentsHours of OperationThe Recreation Division Administrative Office accepts registration at City Hall at the Development Services, Parks and Community Services front counter, Monday through Thursday 8am to 6pm and every other Friday 8am to 5pm, excluding holidays. We can be reached at (209) 831-6200.

The Parks and Community Services Department Administrative Office is closed every other Friday: 1/11, 1/25, 2/8, 2/22, 3/8, 3/22, 4/5, 4/19, 5/3, 5/17, 5/31Closed Holidays: 1/21, 2/18, 5/27

Resident Discount (“Res-Disc.”) vs. “Cost”Your resident address must fall within one of three Tracy Zip Codes (95376, 95377, or 95304) to receive our resident discount. In addition, your address must be within Tracy city limits. If your address has five digits or more, then your home may be outside the Tracy city limits. It is possible to live in one of the three Tracy Zip Codes and still not live within Tracy city limits. All non-residents pay the “cost” of a program.

Program WithdrawalIf you are not happy with the quality of any of our programs, please contact us right away. We want to resolve your concern so you can continue, or in some instances, receive a refund. You must complete a “Request for Class/Activity Withdrawal Form” and submit to the Program Coordinator. Withdrawals are subject to a $5 transaction fee. Refunds are subject to an additional processing fee. If you leave a credit on your account you will not be charged the additional processing fee.

Youth Advisory CommissionTo provide youth with an opportunity to make recommendations to staff, the Parks and Community Services Commission, City Council and other groups on matters related to the welfare of youth in Tracy.

Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, 333 Civic Center Plaza, Conference Room 203.

Transportation CommissionTo be advisors to the City Council and to review or comment upon airport and transportation matters as they relate to public transportation within the City. Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Tracy Transit Station, 50 East 6th Street.

Parks CommissionEstablishes rules and regulations governing the conduct of recreation programs, protection of property, and activities of persons in all parks. We hold public hearings on recreation programming and facility usage and advise the City Council on the subject of recreation and facility master planning and development.Meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of every month at 7:00 pm in the City Council Chambers, 333 Civic Center Plaza.

Ready, Set, GrowChildren engage in daily activities such as circle time and stations. Many self-directed activities will also be available such as dramatic play, art, music and manipulatives. Providing these activities will help children

develop physically, socially and mentally.

AM Program: 3-4 year olds Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Time: 9am to 11:30amThe AM program is designed for children to learn to socialize, follow directions, listen, explore new materials, refine motor skills and interact with fellow peers.

PM Program: 4-5 year oldsDays: Tuesday-Thursday or Monday-Friday Time: 12pm to 3pmThe PM program is designed for children to

learn skills that will enable them to transition into Kindergarten easily. Children will be taught the alphabet, sounds, numbers, counting, reading and writing in an atmosphere that is creative and social. Children will also learn how to listen and follow directions.

Tiny Tots Get Hooked on BooksThe wonderful world of reading is opened to young children through the use of books (i.e. fairy tales and favorite stories). Children will learn to appreciate books and the knowledge gained through raiding. Children will increase their vocabulary and verbal skills by participating in play-acting such as the three bears. Art projects will often be used to enhance the learning experience.

Kindergarten Tutoring: A Helping HandGain grade-level skills and complete the school year with more ease and confidence. Kindergarten-aged children receive a helping hand in this class aimed at providing your kindergartner extra support. By using auditory, visual and kinesthetic materials, children will be encouraged and motivated to achieve goals necessary for learning success in reading, math and writing. Minimal homework ill be assigned to reinforce what has been taught.

Preschool Age Sports Classic Gymnastics for Preschoolers Learn to be a classic gymnast. Preschoolers and youth will gain basic knowledge of introductory gymnastic skills such as rolls, cartwheels, balance beam walks, bar strength, and trampoline jumps.

Tae Kwon Do Tots Tae-Kwon-Do Tots class is designed to develop coordination, balance, and attention span in addition to learning basic karate moves in a fun and structured environment. After School Program (ASP) The After School Program (ASP) provides children with opportunities to improve academic performance, enhance their social skills, increase physical fitness and learn new things in a fun and safe environment on school campuses. ASP staff are trained, educated, experienced and committed recreation professionals who value your child’s needs. The ASP program incorporates weekly homework assistance, the Healthy Habits program and enrichment activities. The daily rate allows participants to register for the ASP program one day at a time. The hourly rate is for those children who need after school care in the afternoon for 1-25 hours during a calendar month.

Days: M 1:30-5:30pm, Tu-F 2:30-5:30pm at Bohn and Hirsch, M 1:30-6pm, Tu-F 3pm-6pm at Poet-Christian.

*The monthly ASP fee is prorated for the month of April to equal $150 for residents and $165 for non-residents.

Lego® Engineering Camps

Create, play and learn. Build a town, city, or star base with houses, buildings, pyramids, bridges, tunnels, towers, and more. Build motorized cars, trains, buses, and trucks; race them; crash them; repair them. Explore the many possibilities of LEGO® building systems while learning useful construction techniques.

Junk Yard Challenge: Because engineering is always a team effort, this camp teaches students how to work collaboratively to design and build the fastest, strongest, most maneuverable, coolest machines and structures possible to solve real world engineering challenges. In this advanced camp, success comes from creative thinking and resourceful use of “The Junkyard” – home to more than 100,000 LEGO® pieces! Students will build elevators, bulldozers, conveyor belts, and other motorized and alternatively powered contraptions to complete this challenging course.

Babysitter Training The Babysitter Training Course was designed for anyone age 11 and over interested in caring for young children. In this course you will learn CPR, first aid, taking care of sick children, dealing with emergencies, indoor and outdoor child safety, basic child development, and skills for entertaining young children. You will also learn how to write a resume and find babysitting jobs in your own neighborhood. You will receive a course certificate and CPR card upon course completion.

Led by Recreation staff, Junior Leaders will receive hands-on instruction on topics such as program planning, safety, organization, mentoring, responsibility, and practical things such as arts and crafts, games and snack preparation. The workshop takes place over 2 Saturdays in April. Interviews for Volunteer Junior Recreation Leaders will take place the first week of May. Don’t Text & DriveA survey of 1,000 teens done by AAA, found that 46% text while driving. A study conducted by Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and Liberty Mutual found instant and text messaging while driving is becoming as dangerous as drinking and driving, in terms of inhibiting a teen’s driving abilities. Cell phone use accounts for 2,600 vehicle fatalities and 300,000 collisions annually.

The Youth Advisory Commission supports the “Don’t Text & Drive” campaign during the high schools’ “Safe Driving Weeks” in April. YAC will be on-campus to educate students of the dangers of texting and driving

Adventures in Fly Fishing - An Introduction Do you love to fish and/or love the outdoors? Are you looking for a new hobby or are you interested in expanding an old one? Fly fishing could be the outlet you are looking for! Learn about the adventures in fly fishing from the Tracy Fly Fishers (TFF). TFF is a local fly fishing club that is experienced in fishing all types of water from the mountains to the oceans, and would love to share some of their fly fishing knowledge.

Dog Obedience The goal of this class is to develop a reliable canine citizen, whether to gain necessary control over an older friend or to start a young dog’s education. We teach using a combination of traditional dog training techniques and behavior modifications. Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) Online Course Skills Testing Session

The American Heart Association is now offering online options for certifying in CPR. For students who would like to certify with this new option, simply complete these two steps. Step 1: Visit the AHAs online website which is www.onlineaha.org and select the “BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR Online Part 1” course from the course catalog. You will complete this online training at home in your own time and it will take approximately 1-2 hours. At the end of the training, simply print out the online certifi cate. Adult Softball Leagues The City of Tracy kicks off the 2013 Adult Softball season with our Spring leagues held at the beautiful Tracy Sports Complex. Registration is now being taken and ends on February 13. There will be a managers meeting on February 20 at 6:30 pm at the Tracy Transit Station, Room 103 (50 East 6th Street). League play will begin the week of February 18. Our program is a recreational slow pitch softball league, offering three levels of competition in our coed and men’s leagues. These levels, starting at the most competitive are Advanced, Intermediate and Novice. Participating in a softball league is fun, promotes physical fitness and time to socialize with your friends and neighbors. So start getting your friends together and come out and have some fun.

Coaches Needed for Junior GiantsGiving to our youth and our community is a positive way to improve the lives of others. Volunteering as a coach in the City of Tracy’s Junior Giants program provides you with an opportunity to have a positive impact on the youth of our community. The Junior Giants program is free non-competitive baseball league

that offers participants with an excellent opportunity to learn the basics of the game in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. This free program is for local children ages 4 through 13. No coaching experience is necessary as the Junior Giants offer coaching clinics and training DVDs to assist new or inexperienced volunteers on proper methods to teach the skills of the game. Daily Nutrition Lunch Hot lunches are provided with reservations 24 hours in advance. Individuals residing in San Joaquin County and over the age of 60 qualify for the program. Suggested contribution of $2 per meal is greatly appreciated. Meals are served daily at 11am at the Lolly Hansen Senior Center.

Paralegal Assistance Paralegal assistance is provided to seniors 60 years and older free of charge by the El Concilio organization on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 9am to 11:30am. An appointment is necessary. For more information, or to arrange an appointment, call 831-4230.

Brown BagBrown Bag is a food distribution program for seniors 60 years and older provided by Second Harvest. There are some income restrictions and participants may sign up at the Lolly Hansen Senior Center the day of distribution only. Brown Bag is held the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 9:30am to 11am. A $12 donation for the year is optional.

Mobile Farmers MarketMobile Farmers Market and Nutrition on the Move program is a farmers market on wheels distributing healthy nutritional items, particularly fresh fruits and vegetables, and nutrition education provided free of charge. The program is for Tracy residents 60 years and older. Mobile Farmers Market is held on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 11:30am to 12:30pm at the Lolly Hansen Senior Center.

Daily In-Home Meals Home delivered frozen meals are available to home-bound and/or temporarily ill seniors 60 years and older. Program is Monday-Friday, 10:15am to 12:30pm. Suggested contribution of $2 per meal is greatly appreciated. An application must be complete before services begin. For more information or to register for the program call the San Joaquin Department of Aging and Adult Services at 1-800-510-2020.

Tracy Senior Connection Tracy Senior Connection Network is a group of organizations that provide services to senior citizens in the City of Tracy. The group is a resource within the community for seniors in need of the various services. The meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Lolly Hansen Senior Center from 11:30am to 12:30pm. If you are an agency who provides services to Tracy seniors and would like to attend a meeting, call 833-6709 for more information.

Golden Agers Organization The Golden Agers is a non-profi t organization established in 1997. Their mission is to create activities and programs to unite senior citizens to support and encourage each other to stay active and involved. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month and are open to seniors 55 years and older.

This program uses gentle Sun Style Tai Chi routines that are safe, easy to learn and suitable for participants with mild, moderate or severe joint involvement, diffused muscle pain, decreased muscle strength and/or fatigue.
