Group Practices Hands-On EnvironmentalClean-UpSARATOGA CO. - A local group called Friends of the Kayaderosseras believesin doing environmental clean-ups, rather than just talking about them. Twotimes each year the volunteer organization conducts clean-ups of some of thepublic access sites along the Kayaderosseras Creek and its tributaries. It is timefor the Fall Clean-up, to improve the creekside environment before winter setsin and the snow flies. Members of the public with the same “can do” attitudeare invited to grab their work gloves and assemble at Ballston Spa’s KelleyPark Pavilion at 9am on Saturday, November 2nd. In case of significant rain,the work day will take place the following Saturday, November 9th, at the sametime and place. This season volunteers will be conducting clean-ups onnine sites in the watershed – maps of the area/sites will be provided. Blue Neils,the group’s Conservation Director, observed that the several year’s of effort areshowing signs of progress. As the Creek environment gets cleaner, less trash isbeing deposited along it’s banks. “We are winning the battle,” said Neils. Trans-portation to each of the sites will be provided. Anyone that would like to vol-unteer is reminded to wear weather and task-appropriate clothing (long pants,long sleeved shirts, boots, etc.) Including a sturdy pair of work gloves (prefer-ably leather).
