• O’Reilly Tech started an invite-only ‘Foo Camp’ annual tech meeting. (2003)

• Those left out started ‘BarCamp’ (open to all) in 2005. Topics were collectively decided.

• BarCamp’s simple ‘UnConference’ model went global very quickly.

Now BarCamps are every year, and also happen at the provincial level.

All you need are enthusiastic volunteers --

- And a Wi-Fi setup. (Easier said than done!)
