If you are single, you can take full advantage of every day that you can spare. From weekend jaunts to summer resort vacations, this is the time in your life when you can best afford to get away.

Feeling lonely or alone

This feeling will surface when you are struggling with a big problem, suffering from an illness, or going through the major holidays. You will feel out of sort too when you have no one to share your secrets or celebrate a major or exciting event or achievement

Lack of intimacy

One of the disadvantages of not getting married is the lack of physical closeness. And as single women get older, they will have fewer or no intimate partners.

Doing things solo

You will have to cook, clean, shop, pay the bills and do almost everything by yourself. If you are a single parent, you have an additional responsibility of taking care of the children without help from your spouse.

Expenses of living alone

It costs more to live alone. You pay the rental and bills without any financial assistance. If you don't learn to budget your money and expenses, you will find it challenging and feel the financial constraints. Sharing your home with another person to ease your living expenses is an option but finding the right person is tough.

Reduced benefits.

Singles don't get the extra benefits in insurance, housing and other areas. And another one of the disadvantages of remaining single is that you have to pay a higher income tax. Other reduced benefits are like losing the benefits of the 2 for 1 offer, and at times having to pay for the same price a couple pays for a hotel room or a cruise.

Extra safety and security precautions

You don't have to start imagining being maimed or robbed in your homes. But you do have to take extra safety and security precautions when you choose to live or travel solo.

Other Disadvantages

1. You have to search for a date for outings that require one, i.e. company parties or double dates.2. You get less money for taxes3. During inclement weather, you often get restricted to the house with no one with whom you can share the moment

4. When it rains it pours and when it doesn’t there is a drought. When you are on a roll meeting new people and exploring the dating scene it is like The Weather Girls’ song “It’s Raining Men.” But when the dating pool is fresh out and your bait is not as enticing, you feel the void.5. Family and friends always ask about past relationships that did not work out. Often, they ask at the wrong times, i.e. when you bring someone new to dinner
