“Christina is a true professional. In the time that we have worked together, she has made it her personal mission to learn the details and nuances that are so prevalent in my business and in my industry. She has taken the objectives and goals I have for my company with respect to health insurance and employee benefits and made them her own. Her approach to her work is both personable and professional. I have witnessed her work well with both experienced professionals and novice line personnel. She has demonstrated an acute attention to detail and willingness to “go the extra mile”. Christina has been able to take a commodity service (i.e. health insurance and employee benefits) and bring real value to my
company, my employees and me personally.” David, President & CEO
90% of businesses are unaware they are
non-compliant in human resources.
Ineffectively managing critical responsibilities in compliance & benefits can result in

Absolutely HR “More important than her actually reducing our benefits cost by 50%, was Christina’s in depth
evaluation of our FSA, HRA and HSA plans that helped us process all the government regulations
we were not comfortable with.” – Jim, President & CEO
“Christina is the consummate professional. As our broker, she constantly and consistently provided me with up-to-date information and creative ideas with all our lines of coverage. Her operational knowledge as a broker, combined with her extensive HR knowledge, make her the best of all possible resources. Additionally, she always has a smile and a positive attitude. Simply the best.” ~ Jim, Director of HR
Why conduct a “Soft Audit”?
A “soft audit” is a compliance survey that minimizes risk to your business. It’s cost effective: There when the need arises, gone when the project is complete, and costs much less than your corporate attorney. It’s prudent to invest time understanding your compliance position before the Department of Labor audits your business - and potentially levies fines. Absolutely HR provides trusted advisor guidance, creative resources & is backed by an attorney, without the overhead in recruiting, hiring, training and insuring an executive level HR employee.

Corporate training budgets have thinned. Attorneys are costly. A pro-active “soft audit” through Absolutely HR may identify vulnerabilities like these before the DOL appears: “DOL will assess a penalty of up to $1,100 a day (or higher amount if adjusted pursuant to the Federal Civil Penalties
Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990, as amended) for each day a plan administrator fails or refuses to file a complete
report.”
(ERISA section 502(c)(2) and 29 CFR 2560.502c-2)
“Federal law requires employee benefit plans with 100 or more participants to have an audit as part of their obligation to file an annual return/report Form 5500 Series.” (DOL/EBSA)
Grandville, Mich., restaurant operators ordered to pay more
than $2 million in back wages and damages following US Labor Department investigation. (DOL/WHD November 2009)
Welch Foods Inc. of Lawton, Mich., agrees to pay employee more than $14,000 in back wages after violating Family and
Medical Leave Act. (DOL/WHD January 2011)
reviewing benefit plan management, required plan documents, personnel files and employment policies. I’ve partnered with businesses to secure Key Person, Buy-Sell Arrangements & assist with business succession plans. I’m available for long-term guidance on benefit administration – including renewal coaching and marketing; assisting with filing deadlines & compliance responsibilities under the DOL and HHS, specifically: HIPAA, ERISA, IRC and PPACA (health care reform).
My experience began in human resources in 1993 and progressed into an executive role in HR. I’ve spent the last decade as a benefits consultant for a national brokerage firm. I launched Absolutely HR in September of 2011 after seeing clients increasingly burdened with healthcare reform changes & regulatory demands from our government. My firm is focused to help any company get & STAY compliant.
I obtained a Pre Law degree from Michigan State University & am a licensed agent in Michigan. Professional memberships include Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Kalamazoo Human Resource Management Association (KHRMA), & Small Business Association of Michigan’s (SBAM) Leadership Council.

It used to be…
... one supervisor could manage the recruiting needs, compensation, benefit management & daily people development no problem.
Advancements such as technology, social media and the narrowing of employment laws has created a cauldron for legislative brews, ushering in changes to FMLA, ADA and introducing HIPAA & GINA laws within the Office of Civil Rights. Governing entities are changing rapidly.
Managing HR has gone from transactional to
strategic. If your HR focus has not changed to
include self-educating & fully understanding the compliance landscape, your business could be in
trouble.
