In this context, Acting Hope has joined hands with Oxbridge Academy (a registered and accredited distance learning college) to further enable people from disadvantaged backgrounds to enhance their skills and

education – through Acting Hope’s bursary programme.

Our non-profit organisation, Acting Hope (NPO 131-510), provides opportunities for women & youth from rural and disadvantaged communities in South Africa to participate in activities focused on empowerment and the nurturing of

physical, mental, and spiritual growth.

WHERE DOES ACTING HOPE FIT IN?Acting Hope works closely with various communities in South Africa and abroad, with the aim of giving people the opportunity to use their own talents to make a difference, no matter what their living circumstances are. Acting Hope introduces communities to the power of self-motivation, and shows people how to create sustainable projects directed toward the development and growth of their communities.

Through a variety of their own projects, Acting Hope volunteers (including those who participate in Hope Pageants International) are constantly creating opportunities for the growth and empowerment of those in need.

Acting Hope’s bursary programme is there to contribute toward the education of these volunteers, as well as toward the education of the members of the communities in which these volunteers operate.

Their aim is to make affordable, high-quality education accessible to all in South Africa.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED:Companies and individuals are invited to donate to Acting Hope’s bursary programme, thereby helping us to give more people access to education, and consequently empowering them to build a better future for themselves and their communities.

By offering financial support to Acting Hope’s bursary programme, if you are a company, you will not only be providing an opportunity for someone to receive an education, but you will also be engaging in corporate social responsibility (meaning that you will be able to claim the related tax benefit).

Hope Pageants International was founded by Ingrid Burger (CEO), along with Elsabe Huysamen, Ben Reynecke, and Sandra Walter-Lewis (as directors).

This pageant system was launched to give recognition to women and children who are passionate about making a significant difference in their communities, touching the lives of others, and being positive role models in society. It is currently the only registered pageant system that allocates 50% of the finalists’ scores based on participation in community projects and interviews. Hope Pageants International is therefore not about glitz and glamour, but about character, values, and the heart to make a difference.

The idea for the pageant started in 2012, after Ingrid founded her own community project, Acting Hope (www.actinghope.co.za).

Acting Hope is now a registered NPO, with the aim of giving confidence and hope to women and children in disadvantaged communities in South Africa. The pageant is open to participants from South Africa and other countries in which Hope Pageants directors have been appointed. Once national finalists have been selected in each country, these finalists start doing various small projects that will be judged at the final event, which takes place annually in Cape Town in December. Both national and international pageant winners are encouraged to use Acting Hope as their platform for making a difference during their year of reign.
