Why We Love Wicker Park/BucktownWicker Park/Bucktown offers the best combination of bou-tique shopping, casual dining and people watching of any neighborhood in Chicago. It’s the place you go if you want a perfect relaxing day. The Violet Hour (pictured) is a great spot for an awesome cocktail, and Big Star is the best place to hang out and people watch with some tacos.—Ben Nelson, Concierge, Chicago Athletic Association Hotel

WPB LoveIt is a unique neighbor-hood, not only for the brand shopping, but also the one-of-a-kind eclectic shops. One of my favorites is the John Fluevog shoe store (1539 N. Milwaukee Ave.), housed in an old movie theater. The vibe in the area is funky with many of the owners living not far from their shops. Many of the old lofts have been converted into great, huge apartments, and it has attracted a very hip and diverse food scene. Some of my local favorites: Mindy’s HotChocolate, The Bristol (pictured) and Presidio. This spills into the night-life scene with places like The Violet Hour and The Charleston, that will keep you entertained until the wee hours of the morn-ing. — Victor Colon, Chef Concierge, The Langham

Why We Love Wicker Park/BucktownWhy we chose Wicker Park? Goorin Bros. is in our seventh year in the vibrant neighborhood of Wicker Park. We love the blend of artists, families and visitors that the diverse and innovative businesses attract. When we were looking for a place to call home, we knew that our 4th-generation, family-owned hat shop would fit right in with the hard-working, cre-ative neighbors in this community. Why we love Wicker Park? Because it never sits still. You don’t have to look far to find an event to be a part of, a new business to explore, a local artist to admire, or the perfect brand-new lunch spot. This growth and change keeps us thinking outside the box about ways to connect with our customers and community, and keeps visi-tors coming back to see what’s new in the neighborhood this week.—Ben Goorin, Owner/President, Goorin Bros.

Rick Bayless on Wicker ParkWhy I chose to open in Wicker Park? Wicker Park right now is the beating heart of Chicago, and it only made sense for us to want to contribute to the vibrancy. We’re known for our River North restaurants, but we’ve established our Wicker Park location as a destination for Chicagoans who don’t want to venture downtown. Why I love Wicker Park and Bucktown? I’ve called Bucktown home for a while now and one of the things I love most is walking over to the Wicker Park Farmers’ Market on Sunday mornings (June 5-Oct. 30, 8 am-2 pm, Damen Avenue between Schiller Street and Wicker Park Avenue). It’s filled with amazing produce from Midwest family farms.—Chef Rick Bayless, Xoco

Why We Love Wicker Park/BucktownIn a city of neighborhoods, Wicker Park/Bucktown is one of the best. Coffee shop Buzz Espresso (1644 N. Damen Ave.) provides the perk for visiting all of the wonderful shops and boutiques in the area. I always find things at Mildblend Supply Co. and Fjäll-räven. As the sun sets, you’ll find me at Presidio enjoying a deli-cious cocktail, or having dinner in the garden at Red Door (2118 N. Damen Ave.).—Mat Chapman, Concierge, JW Marriott Chicago

WPB LoveJust take a short ride on the Blue Line El train out of the Loop, and you can be in one of the more edgy neighborhoods of Chicago: Wicker Park. A neighborhood centralized around foodies, hipsters, bar hoppers, music-goers and trendy boutique shopping. Anyone that’s been to that area knows where Big Star (pictured) is and craves its Mexi-can street food. Hit up The Wormhole for some locally brewed coffee and head over to Myopic Books (1564 N. Milwau-kee Ave.) to get lost in the unique tri-level book store. Feel like a drink? Hungry? The Crocodile (1540 N. Milwaukee Ave.) is a hip music spot that serves free pizza with any drink purchase, so there’s no reason not to check it out! —Catelyn Rydzewski, Concierge, Hotel Monaco

Why We Love WPBI chose WPB some 25 years ago because I liked the mix of shops, people and it’s slightly rough-around-the-edges attitude. I lived in the neighborhood for 25 years and just love that it always has a great buzz. We have The 606 (pictured) and Wicker Park, great public transport, fabulous restaurants and food stores, boutiques, book shops, music stores. You don’t need to leave the neighbor-hood for anything!—Debbie Sharpe, Owner, Goddess and Grocer
