Melbourne Festival of the Creative and Performing Arts

Cue the sunshine, cue the music, September in South Derbyshire means its Melbourne Festival! Now into its ninth year the Festival is eagerly awaited by local people and visitors from far afield.

Melbourne Festival is the highlight of South Derbyshire’s cultural calendar. For four weeks people pour in to take advantage of the programme taking place in this gem of a town.

The traditional art of decorating springs and wells with pictures using only what nature can provide. It’s origins are a mystery and are thought to date back to the time of the Celts or even earlier.
